QUICK START GUIDE
INSTALLING THE NETRONIX™ THIAMIS™
GSM/GPS COMMUNICATION MODEM IN
THE ENVIRONMENTAL ENCLOSURE
MODEL 8535
This guide will help you quickly install the Netronix™
Thiamis™ GSM/GPS Communication Modem for
Environmental Enclosure Model 8535.
Unpacking Netronix Thiamis
GSM/GPS Communication
Modem (801901)
1. Unpack the Netronix TM ThiamisTM GSM/GPS
Communication Modem (801901) for the
Environmental Enclosure (8535) and verify that all
the items listed in the following table are present.
2. Contact TSI immediately if items are missing or
broken.

Preparation of Environmental
Enclosure (8535) if Purchased
with a Digi XStream-PKG
RF Modem
1. Disconnect cables from Digi®XStream-PKG™
RF modem.
2. Remove the Digi
XStream-PKG
RF modem from base
bracket using a Phillips
screw driver.
3. Remove the antenna
housing from the
8535 enclosure with
a Phillips-head screw
driver and save the
screws for a later
step.
Preparation of Environmental
Enclosure (8535) if Purchased
without a Digi XStream-PKG
RF Modem
1. If the Environmental Enclosure was purchased
without a wireless Digi XStream-PKG RF Modem,
remove the two screws shown, along with the nuts
and washers attached to the screws. Save the
screws for a later step.
2. Loosen the nut then remove the plug as shown.

Installing the Netronix Thiamis
GSM/GPS Communication
Modem (801901)
1. Using a ¼” nut driver fasten the hex standoffs to the
base bracket.
2. Using a 3/32” ball driver, socket head screws, and
washers fasten the adapter plate to the base
bracket.
3. Lay the O-ring in the O-ring
groove at the base of the
antenna housing.
4. Using the previously
installed screws
fasten the antenna
housing with the
O-ring to the
enclosure.
5. Remove the slip nut from the GSM-GPS antenna.
6. Feed the GSM and
GPS cables down
the antenna housing
and screw the
GSM-GPS antenna
onto the antenna
housing.
7. Fasten the Thiamis unit to the adapter plate using the
1/8” hex driver and button head hex screws.
8. Connect the GSM and GPS cables to the Thiamis
unit.

9. Connect the RS-232 to USB converter cable to the
Thiamis unit and the DustTrak Aerosol Monitor.
10. Connect power cable to the AC power cable
connector or battery cable connector (not shown).
11. Connect the phoenix connector end of the power
cable to the Thiamis unit.
12. Connect the barrel
connector end of the
power connector to the
DustTrak Aerosol
Monitor.
13. Connect the
locking connector
end of the power
cable to the
heated inlet if you
have purchased a
heated inlet
otherwise leave
unconnected.
