5.Application possibilities - basics
The control and automation panel TTL -UBT plus is an universal electronic operators panel for comfortable
switching and control of TTL air curtain devices of all types and construction lengths.
The used CAN bus technology affords the possibility to connect several units. Single units or groups of units
can be addressed by coding. Sutchlike units of a group will be controlled equal and operates at the same opera-
ting stage or power level.
The behaviour in dependency of door contact(s) and/or a room thermostat(s) and possibilities of enable of
each of the units in this group are separately settlable.
In compare to similar step switches TTL -Touch offers enlarged functions concerning:
• large LCD touchscreen, coloured
• menue with clear text display and users guidance
FRQWURORIDLUEORZRXWWHPSHUDWXUHÁXLGÁRZFRQWUROOHU
FRQWURORIDLUYROXPHÁRZIDQSHUIRUPDQFHFRQWUROOHU
• functions for WINTER mode resp. for SUMMER mode
• detection of the actually outside temperatues for blow-out temperature reduction control
for operation with active guided decreased air outlet temperature
• timer operating with switching times in a weekly programm
• groupings of units
• programming of basic functions, like programmings of enable, for restart after frost alert triggering
DQGIRUVSHFLÀFVZLWFKLQJIXQFWLRQV
• key lock with programmable functions
In TTL -Touch automation panel implemented controllers for water and air control additional to conventional
control functions permits an autarcic control of air curtains.
Thereby basic datas can be saved in internal controllers concerning to desired operational values, which are

6. Operating modes and operating settings
For action with control and automation panel TTL-Touch is generally to defferentiate between a operation with
static values concerning to blow-out temperature and air volume and a operation with control functions.
The static operation without activated controllers is equal to conventional operation of air curtain systems. But
it is less effectiv by energetic respect, because the caloric requirement of air curtain unit keeps mostly constant
and only react to variations of water supply but will not adjusted to changing ambient conditions.
6.1 Operation without controllers
6.1.1 OFF mode
In the OFF mode the air curtain system is switched off, but in serviceability and can be activated for operation
by actuation of the buttons MANUAL/HAND mode or AUTOMATIC mode.
6.1.2 MANUAL mode (inactivated controllers)
,Q0$18$/PRGH+$1'PRGHWKHDLUFXUWDLQXQLWZLOOEHFRQWUROOHGGLUHFWO\E\VHWWLQJRIDQDLUYROXPHÁRZ
rate with adjustment of a continous alterable slider bar.
Perhaps connected door contacts, room sensors or room thermostates are without effect.
Howether fault messages as like motor faults or frost alert faults and with it associated switchings take place
for safety reasons.
6.1.3 AUTOMATIC mode (inactivated controllers)
6.1.3.1 AUTOMATIC mode
In AUTOMATIC mode the air curtain unit(s) will be switched On or Off by a external contact transmitter
(door contact or room hermostate) contacted at terminals 18/19 at internal connecting board.
6.1.3.1.1 OVERRUN within AUTOMATIC mode
A overrun time for the AUTOMATIC mode can be set in menu 3.2 (Basic settings - Overrun time). In case of
shutup of the automatic contact (terminals 18/19 at the internal connecting board (PCB) inside the air curtain
unit) of the system installation, that means if the door closes, the air curtain unit will keep in operation for the
preselected time.
The switch-off of air curtain device(s) by OFF button (0) at theTouch control panel doesn`t
disconnect automatically the power connection to the electricity grid. Electrical systems in-
side the air curtain unit as well as in the control panel and also the power cable and the data
lines may still be energized. The complete electrical disconnection of the air curtain device
from the mains will be effect exclusively by a repair switch provided by customer!

6. Operating modes and operating settings (cont.)
6.1.3.1 AUTOMATIC mode (cont.)
6.1.3.1.2 HEATING mode within AUTOMATIC mode
In case of a switched-off automatic contact, the door is closed, the air curtain unit can activated for direct
room heating by using the HEATING mode within the cycle of AUTOMATIC mode.
The HEATING mode is active only if a room thermostat is connected at terminals 20/21 of the internal con-
necting board (PCB).
If the room temperature is lower then the temperature adjusted at the room hermostat (accessory) the air
curtain unit switches ON at the preselected power level or operating stage (menu 5.2 Basic settings - Heating
stage).
The AUTOMATIC mode and the WINTER mode (heating) have to be active.
The automatic contact for the AUTOMATIC mode takes preference over the HEATING mode.

6.2 Operation with controllers
Mostly effective and energy-saving is the operation with activated controllers. At a completed system indoor
sensors gather the temperature value in entrance area behind the door and adjust the air volume stream of air
curtain to this (VOL controller).
Implemented sensors on water circuit and in air stream adjust the blow-out temperature (AIR controller).
For use of controllers functions according maesure elements have to be integrated in system.TTL offers the-
UHWRWKHSUHHTXLSSLQJZLWKVHQVRUVERWKDWZDWHUFLUFXLWWHPSHUDWXUHDWZDWHUÁRZDQGDOVRLQDLUVWUHDP
(blow-out temperature). For external sensors infrared sensors and equally room sensors are deployed, like also
outside sensors (TTL accessories) for appropriated reaction following changed outside climatic conditions.
To infuence the water circuit (controlling of blow-out temperature - AIR controller) an actuator like a motor-
valve or motor-mixer have to be installed (TTL accessories).
6.2.1 HAND mode with activated volume controller (VOL controller)

VOL man mode). This is a programmable shield against unintentional and unwanted deactivating of the control-
lers operation with a switchover to the MANUAL mode.
The automatic contacts for a perhaps connected door contact and/or room thermostat keeps furthermore.
6.2.2 AUTOMATIC mode with activated controllers
With adaquate installed acessories (motoric valve or motoric mixer, infrared sensor or room sensor) and
VHWWLQJRIQRPLQDOYDOXHVIRUDLUEORZRXWWHPSHUDWXUHDQGURRPWHPSHUDWXUHÁRRUWHPSHUDWXUHWKURXJK,5
sensor) one or both controllers can be activated in AUTOMATIC mode.

temperature) setted value by an internal air temperature sensor. This value can be made conditional on a measu-
red value of an external sensor. The blow-out tempearture can decreased adequate and continous correspon-
ding to this referece value (see menu 6.4 Energy saving functions - Setback mode).
7KHDLUYROXPHÁRZFRQWUROOHUIDQSHUIRUPDQFHFRQWUROOHUDGMXVWVWKHDLURXWSXWRIWKHDLUFXUWDLQGHYLFHVR
much, that the nominal value for the infrared sensor setted for WINTER mode (see menu 5.1 Volume cont-
roller VOL - Temperature WINTER) resp. or setted for SUMMER mode (see menu 5.2 Volume controllerVOL -
Temperature SUMMER) is to be reached and to be kept.
This controlling process within AUTOMATIC mode is visualised by the slinding indicator.
With a stepless controlling process (possible at air curtain units with EC fans) the air outlet power of the air
curtain unit will be adapted continuously.

6. Operating modes and operating settings (cont.)
6.3 Energy-saving functions
For an especially and energy saving operation of air curtain system(s) ca be activated special functions:
Temperature setback mode
With activated blow-out controller the air blow-out temperature will be adjusted normally at a programmbled
À[HGYDOXH
More effective is to make this nominal value changable, e.g. to follow the course of the day of outside tempera-
ture or the heating up of inside a mall area. Increases this reference temperature (value at noontime, intensive
solar radiation, interal heat generation), the air outlet temperature can lowered accordingly without accepting
restraints of the shielding effect or the comfort feeling in the scope of air curtain system.
$RSHUDWLQJPRGHLQWKLVNLQGFDQJHQHUDWHDVLJQLÀFDQWO\HFRQRPL]DWLRQRIHQHUJ\HYHQDWODUJHGHYLFHV
Hereto as well as start values can be set (at which temperature process begins) and also a scaling of blow-out
temperature reduction in ratio to rising measured outside temperature.
6.4 SUMMER/WINTER mode
By WINTER switchover at menue 2 - settings can be switched between an operation with activated heating
battery (WINTER mode) or an operation without heating (SUMMER mode) manually.
For using this function a selenoid valve, electrothermal valve or athe anyway for controlling used motor-valve-
have to be installed.
At activating function WINTER mode the valve will be opened and is operated by the (if activated) controlling
process.
In case of SUMMER mode ithe valve is principially closed.
The functions SUMMER mode or WINTER mode can also be initiated by an associated BMS signal connec-
ted at the terminals 26/27 on the internal connecting board (PCB) - see also chapt. 10.1 - Internal connecting
board.
