OUTRIGGER PLACEMENT
Pivot outriggers so they are fully extended. Install
outrigger support by inserting small end of rod into
angled bracket. Align outrigger support hole with
outrigger hole. Insert smaller diameter pin from top to
bottom. Repeat process for outrigger and outrigger
support on other side. NOTE: There are extra boom
support and outrigger bracket support pins.
Once outriggers are secured in place, position
outrigger pads under outriggers.
TAPE REMOVAL
Remove tape from chain on underside of model.

CONNECTING BOOM & BOOM SUPPORT
Remove tape (pin included inside of tape). While
supporting boom, align holes on boom and boom
support. Insert pin through aligned holes. Weight
from boom will secure pin in place. NOTE: Extra pins
are included in the plastic bag.

POSITIONING WINDOW SUPPORTS
Fully open window cover. Insert support rod into
lower right-hand corner of window frame. Lower
window cover so upper part of support fits into
recessed portion of window cover. Repeat process
for three remaining window covers. NOTE: Extra
window support rods are included.

POSITIONING REAR DOOR
Fully open rear door panel. Fully open rear door
platform. Connect chains to open holes on lower
platform. Place door rod props into vertical position to
hold up rear door panel.

CHIMNEY ASSEMBLY
Remove chimney stack from bag. Place chimney
(with flange down) on chimney receptacle. Remove
chimney support straps from bag. Insert straight end
into chimney support bracket at top of chimney.
Insert angled end into the hole in the house roof.
Repeat process for the three remaining chimney
support straps. NOTE: Extra chimney support straps
are included.

Remove three screws – two on the
underside of rear frame body, and one
in the middle of rear truck assembly.
Remove hitch and hitch bracket.
Re-insert and tighten all three screws.
To replace hitch, work the above
sequence in reverse order.
7a OPTIONAL ITEMS: HITCH REMOVAL*
*NOT RECOMMENDED
Although this model replicates many of the functions of the original machine,it is intended for static display only.
Please do not attempt to use in conjunction with current railroad pieces.
Displaying the steam shovel on a separate, non-powered length of track is also strongly recommended.
To remove house (if necessary) remove
all four chimney support straps and
chimney.
7b OPTIONAL ITEMS: HOUSING UNIT REMOVAL*
Remove boom support pin. Remove eight Phillips-head screws
located on both sides along the outer
edge of the underside frame body (four
per side).
Lift housing unit off of frame body in
order to clear the key receivers for the
bucket hoist on the right side and boom
operation on the left side. Once
cleared, lift entire housing unit up and
forward so boom support feeds through
the opening in the house roof.
To place housing unit back on the frame
body, work the above sequence in
reverse order.
8KEYS ARE INCLUDED FOR:
Crowd action –

Steam shovel
movement on track –
forward/reverse.

Boom operation –
swing left/right.
Bucket hoist –
raising/lowering.
