1Overview
The UfiSpace S9701-82DC is a high-performance, versatile, open disaggregated core and
edge router. It provides high-density 25GE and 100GE Ethernet ports for aggregation and
supports IEEE 1588v2 and SyncE timing synchronization features. The S9701-82DC’s 400GE
fabric ports can be connected to the UfiSpace S9705-48D fabric to create a distributed
disaggregated chassis routing system to fulfill the high traffic loading in 5G application
scenarios. In the past, monolithic chassis was the only solution for carrier aggregation and
core networks. Now, the S9701-82DC can form a pay-as-you-grow architecture, which
provides a more flexible solution for network operators.
With 25GE and 100GE services ports, the S9701-82DC platform can enable multiple
application architectures required for high traffic loading in a 5G mobile Ethernet network.
Due to its flexible configuration, the S9701-82DC can be positioned in different parts of the
network to perform aggregation, such as in data center for massive server aggregation or
even as a Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) within the central office.
With the hardware fully supporting IEEE 1588v2 and SyncE synchronization, 1+1 redundancy
hot-swappable components, and a high port density design, the S9701-82DC delivers high
system reliability, Ethernet switching performance and intelligence to the network that
helps reduce infrastructure and administrative costs.

Installation Environment Requirements
•Power Reserve: The S9701-82DC power supply is available with:
1. DC Version: 1+1 Redundant and hot swappable, active/active, DC power supply field
replaceable unit or;
2. AC Version: 1+1 Redundant and hot swappable, active/active, AC power supply field
replaceable unit.
For power voltage range requirements, please see section 2.3.
To ensure the redundant, active/active feed power design functions properly, a field with
dual power circuit is recommended with a reserve of at least 1300 watts on each power
circuit.
•Space Clearance: The S9701-82DC chassis width is 17.16 inches (43.6cm) and is shipped with
an adjustable mounting rail kit suited for standard 19 inch (48.3cm) wide racks. The depth of
the S9701-82DC chassis is 24 inches (60.9cm) without the field replaceable units (FRUs). The
fan FRU handle will extend outwards by 1.2 inches (2.9cm) and the power supply handles will
extend outwards by 1.1 inches (2.7cm). Therefore, to accommodate the fan handles, power
supply handles, airflow and cabling, a minimum space clearance of 6 inches (15.2cm) is
needed at front and back of the S9701-82DC. A total minimum reserve depth of 36 inches
(91.4cm) is required.

• Cooling: The S9701-82DC airflow direction is front-to-back. Make sure the equipment on
the same rack have the same airflow direction.
