Introducon
The microMIND V2 allows to add a MiCard reader or a MiCard PLUS / MiCard PLUS-2 /
MiCard PLUS-2 V2 reader as a secure print soluon to any printer. This allows you to turn
your normal oce printer into a cost-eecve secure print soluon. It does not maer
whether this printer is connected via USB, the network, or a dierent connecon. As
long as the respecve printer is available and congurable in uniFLOW, a microMIND V2
can be used in conjuncon with the printer.
The microMIND V2 supports all MiCard (V1, V2, V3, and all future versions / Magnec
Reader (since rmware V2.0.7)) and MiCard PLUS / MiCard PLUS-2 / MiCard PLUS-2 V2
readers (since rmware V2.0.5).
Secure Prinng
The microMIND V2 is designed to add the Secure Print feature to single-funcon
printers, regardless of whether they are Canon devices or not. Each device from each
vendor is supported. It does not maer if your printer provides an Ethernet TCP/IP
network, WLAN, USB, or other connecons. Thus, NT-ware provides an easy and cost-
eecve soluon to include almost all printers and install them in uniFLOW as a secure
printer.
However, an Ethernet TCP/IP network connecon is required for the microMIND V2. The
microMIND V2 has a built-in network switch, allowing it to connect the printer to the
network through the microMIND V2. This can be required for network printers. Note
that the microMIND V2 does not have to be aached to the printer. It only transfers the
ID data, read from the user's ID card, to the uniFLOW server and thus tells the uniFLOW
server to release the print jobs for this user.
Copy Accounng
Furthermore the microMIND V2 supports copy accounng. In order to allow for
accounng of copy costs on an MFP, the user interface of the device needs to be locked
unl a user has been idened at the MFP. Aer idencaon the user interface opens
up, the user starts copying, and the costs can be assigned to the user, a user group, or a
cost center.
To lock the interface you need to connect a cable to the relevant machine and make the
required sengs in the service mode of the MFP.
The following two graphics outline how the microMIND V2 can be implemented in the
network environment.

LED Status
The microMIND V2 is equipped with two status LEDs. The tables below show the status
informaon given by the respecve LED.
Power LED:

Update).
Green Device is powered with power over Ethernet (PoE).
Orange Device is powered with an external power supply.
Status LED:
Status/Colors Status Descripons
O The microMIND V2 did not boot. It is most likely defecve.
Green A MiCard/MiCard PLUS card reader is connected and has been
idened. The microMIND V2 is ready to receive data from the
MiCard/MiCard PLUS.
Note that the green status only appears, if the microMIND has been
congured with a printer in uniFLOW.
Green ashing No USB card reader is connected. This status will only be displayed if
the microMIND V2 is connected to the network and to a uniFLOW
server.
Green ashing (fast) If a new rmware has been loaded successfully during the boot
loader phase, the green LED is ashing fast (see also chapter
Firmware update (on page 14)).
Orange A card has been detected by the MiCard/MiCard PLUS reader and
the uniFLOW server has been informed about it. This status is shown
for approx. 2 seconds. Aerwards the LED turns green again. It also
lights up in orange during the boot loader phase.
Orange ashing A not supported USB card reader has been connected. Note that
only MiCard/MiCard PLUS readers are supported by the microMIND
V2. MiCard PLUS readers are supported since rmware V2.0.5.
Red The microMIND V2 has an IP address but is not connected to a
uniFLOW server nor to an RPS, thus it is inoperable.
Red Flashing The microMIND V2 has no IP address and is trying to acquire an IP
address, thus it is inoperable.

Conguraon
The microMIND V2 works without any addional conguraon if your network has a
DHCP server congured to provide an IP address for the microMIND V2. However, some
"advanced" opons are available which are explained below.
Congurable Parameters
▪ A conguraon of the microMIND V2 in a dierent network segment than the▪
uniFLOW server is not possible. The reason is that the conguraon requires
network broadcasts which are in general not forwarded between dierent network
segments. However, if your router conguraon allows the forwarding of broadcasts
to a dierent segment, the conguraon may be possible.
▪This only aects changes of the microMIND V2 IP address conguraon. The
▪
websites of the microMIND can of course be reached from any subnet and there is
also no further limitaon.
▪Furthermore, if there is no DHCP server available or if a DHCP server doesn't send
▪
any IP conguraon to the microMIND V2, the microMIND V2 will appear on the
MIND & microMIND > List view page nevertheless.
Same is true for microMINDs which are set to a xed IP, even if its IP does not match
the subnet mask.
IP Address
The IP conguraon of the microMIND V2 is performed directly via uniFLOW.
To congure a microMIND V2 IP address, do the following:
1. Open the uniFLOW Server Conguraon, choose the main menu Connecons >
1.
Agents/Terminals > MIND & microMIND and select the List view page.
2. In this screen, you can see the status informaon of the aached MINDs /2.
microMINDs / microMIND V2. The column Type shows you if it is a MIND (MindNet
Device) or a microMIND.
3. The microMIND V2 IP conguraon can be found by selecng a microMIND V2 via3.
mouse click on the IP address.
You’ll nd the serial number of the respecve microMIND V2 on a scker on the back
of the microMIND V2. A browser screen will open to congure the microMIND V2 IP
address.
By default, the microMIND V2 is set to DHCP, meaning that the microMIND V2
receives it's conguraon from the network's DHCP server if available.
If there is no DHCP server available or if a DHCP server doesn't send any IP
conguraon to the microMIND V2, the microMIND V2 will appear on the MIND &
microMIND > List view page as well. This is because the microMIND V2 vendor MAC
address poron is known to the uniFLOW server.

4. Aer all sengs have been made, conrm the sengs by clicking on Save Sengs.4.
5. The reboong process of the microMIND V2 takes a few seconds.5.
Code Conversion
The Code Conversion funconality lets you convert the read ID into a number of other
notaons, e.g. you read out an ID in hexadecimal, but you need it in decimal, or you
need the read ID in a reverse order etc. For such cases, a code conversion opon is
available in the uniFLOW Server Conguraon. It has been implemented, primarily to
support a Code Conversion for microMIND. However, the Code Conversion can be set to
a "Global Code Conversion" for all ID devices or to microMINDs only.
The conguraon is done on the in uniFLOW Server Conguraon > Server Cong. >
General Sengs > General > Code Conversion.
