Getting started
1.1 Getting to know your device
Name Description
Power button Turns your deviceon and off.
Cameralens Takes aim atthe subjects for pictures.
Battery door lock Loosensand secures the batterydoor.
Speaker Sends outsounds.
Mini-USB connector Connects tothe USB cable.
Note: Please make sure to close the protectioncover firmlywhen not using the
connector toprevent water or dirt fromenteringthe connector.
Touch screen Displays the outputof your device. Tap the screen withyour fingertipto select menu
commands or enter information.
Microphone Receives sound andvoice.
Camera button Takes pictures.
Function button You cancustomise the function of this button.

1.2 Opening thebatterydoor
1.
Raise the arm,andturn thebattery door lock90degrees counter clockwise.
2.
Lift thetop of the battery dooruntilthe pivot point atthebottomreleases, allowingthecover to becomefree
fromthedevice.
When reinstallingthebattery door, make sure tofirst insert the hingepoint atthebase of the cover andthenclose
thetop of thecover. Whenthe cover is connectedclosely tothe device,turnthebattery door lock 90degrees
clockwise tosecure it.
1.3 Installing thebatteries
CAUTION:
Do not heat, open, puncture, mutilate, or dispose of batteries in fire.
Use only the correct type of battery.
When not using the battery for a long period (more than one month), remove the batteries to prevent damage from battery corrosion.
In case the battery leaks, clean the liquid and install a new battery.
Check the regulations of yourlocal government for proper battery disposal.

Placetwo AA”batteries inthebattery compartment. Adiagramintheinterior of the battery compartment
showsthe orientationof the batteries.

Replaceandsecurethebattery door. (See theprevious Opening the battery door for information.)

1.4 Using a memorycard
Note: The product s compatibilities with MicroSD cards from all manufacturers are not guaranteed.
CAUTION: Do not apply pressure to the centre of the memory card.

Openthe batterydoor(Seethe previous Openingthebatterydoor for information.)
2.
Removethebatteries (if installed).
3.
Slide the silver retaining platetowards thetopof the device,and then lift theretainingplate upwithyour
fingernail.
4.
Insert a MicroSD cardwiththecontacts down,pointingtowards thetop.
To removeacard,gently push thetop edgeof thecard inwards toreleaseit, and pullit outoftheslot.
5.
Close the retainingplate and slide towardsthebottomof the device,lockingthecard inplace.
6.
Reinstallthebatteries.(See the previous Installingthebatteries for information.)
7.
Replaceandsecurethebattery door. (See theprevious Opening the battery door for information.)
8.
Hold theMicroSD cardbytheedgesandgentlyinsert itinto theslot withthelabel facing thebackofyour
device.

Gettingto knowthe basics
2.1 Turning on and off
To turnonthedevice,press thepower buttonfor1 second.
To turnoff thedevice,press andholdthepowerbutton for 3seconds.
To resetthe device, press andholdthepower buttonfor 10seconds.
2.2Navigating onthescreen
To operateyour device, touch thescreenwithyour fingertip.You canperformthe followingactions:
Tap
Touchthe screenonce withyour fingertip toopen items or select on-screenbuttons oroptions.
Drag
Hold yourfingertiponthe screenand drag up/down/left/rightor across the screen. (This is notsupportedby
allapplications.)

Bluetooth connectivity
Note: Bluetooth connectivity is not available on Russell 500.
Ifyou havea mobilephonewith Bluetooth wireless technology, you can use yourdeviceas ahands-free car kitor
toprovideaninternet connection.Itcan also beused toconnect toaBluetoothmono/stereoearphonetooutput
audio.Models with Bluetoothcapabilities canexchange informationover adistanceof about 10meters (30 feet)
withoutrequiringaphysical connection.
Beforeyoucan usethis featureyou must pair yourmobile phone withyourdevice.Ensure that the Bluetooth
wireless featureofyour mobile phoneis turnedonbefore you beginpairing.Whenyousearchfor or connecttoa
mobilephone/ headset,the Bluetooth onyourdevice willbeturned onautomatically.Tosave power, Bluetoothis
settoOFFbydefault.
Note: Not all phones with Bluetooth wireless technology are compatible with your device.

Navigation
4.1 About GPS
TheGPS (Global Positioning System) navigationis madepossible byanetworkof satellites.Eachsatellite
transmits arangeof signals whichareutilized byGPS receivers todeterminean exactlocation.Aminimumof 4
GPSsatellite signals aretypicallyrequired toprovideaposition or GPS fix”(latitudeand longitude) for vehicle
navigationsystems.
GPSsignalsare availableatanytime, free of charge.
4.2 Precautionsand notices
For your ownsafety, donotoperate thecontrols of theproductwhiledriving.
Use this productprudently.The product is intendedforuse solely as a navigationaid.It is notfor precise
measurement of direction,distance,locationor topography.
Thecalculated routeis for reference only. It is theuser’sresponsibility tofollowthe trafficsignsandlocal
regulations alongtheroads.
Whenyouget out of thecar,donot leaveyourdeviceon thedashboard subjected to directsunlight.
Overheatingofthebatterycancause malfunction and/ordanger.
GPS is operatedbytheUnited Statesgovernment, whichis solely responsible for the performance of GPS.
Anychangeto the GPS systemcan affecttheaccuracy of allGPSequipments.
GPS satellite signals cannotpass throughsolidmaterials (exceptglass).When you are insidea tunnelor
building,GPS positioningis not available.
Aminimum of 4 GPS satellite signals is neededto determine current GPS position.Signalreception canbe
affectedby situations such as badweather or denseoverhead obstacles (e.g.trees andtallbuildings).
Other wireless devices inthevehicle might interferewiththe receptionof satellite signals andcausethe
reception tobeunstable.
Acar holder is neededwhen using thedevicein a car.Besure that youplace thedevice in anappropriate
place,soas nottoobstruct thedriver’sview, or deploymentof airbags.
4.3 Starting the GPS Position
When themapisloaded,GPSpositioningautomaticallystarts.Thefirst timeyouuse your device,itmaytakeup to
severalminutesto establishaGPS connection.Toguaranteetheoptimum GPSsignalstrength,make surethat your
deviceisplaced outdoors,orin a vehicleoutdoors,and thedevicehas an unobstructedviewofthesky.
Oncethesystemhas a fixon your position, you willsee on thescreena yellow arrow inacircle indicatingyour
currentposition.

5.1 Troubleshooting
Note: If you encounter a problem you cannot solve, contact an authorised service centre for assistance.
Problem Solution
Power does notswitchonwhenusingbattery
power. The remainingbatterypower maybe too low torun your device. Changethe
batteries.
Screenresponds slowly.Make sure thatyour device isnotrunningoutof batterypower. If theproblem
stillpersists, resetyour device.
Screenfreezes. Reset your device.
Screen is hardto read. Make sure that the backlightof the display is setto a high-enough brightness.
Make sure that your device and your computer are both switched onbefore
tryingtoestablisha connection.
Makesure thatthe cableissecurely plugged into theUSB porton yourcomputer
and on your device. Connectthe USB cable directly to your computer—donot
run the cable througha USB hub.
Cannot establish a connectionwitha
computer.
Resetyour device before connectingthe cable. Always disconnectyour device
before yourestart your computer.
5.2 Caring for your device
Takinggoodcare ofyour device will ensuretrouble-free operationandreduce theriskofdamageto your device.
Keep your device away fromexcessive moistureandextremetemperatures.
Avoidexposingyourdevicetodirect sunlightor strongultravioletlight for extendedperiods of time.
Do notplaceanything ontop of your deviceor dropobjectsonyour device.
Donotdrop yourdeviceor subject it tosevereshock.
Do not subjectyour device tosuddenand severe temperature changes. This could cause moisture
condensation insidetheunit,whichcoulddamageyour device.Intheeventof moisture condensation,allow
thedevice todry out completely before use.
Thescreensurface can easily bescratched.Avoid touchingitwithsharp objects.Non-adhesive generic
screenprotectors designedspecificallyfor useonportable devices withLCD panels maybeusedtohelp
protect thescreenfromminor scratches.
Never clean your devicewithitpoweredon.Use a soft,lint-free cloth towipe the screenand theexterior of
your device.
Do notusepapertowels to cleanthe screen.
Never attempt todisassemble, repair ormakeanymodifications toyour device.Disassembly, modificationor
any attempt atrepair could cause damage toyourdevice andeven bodily injury orproperty damage and will
void any warranty.
Keepyour device and its accessoriesoutof thereach of smallchildrenor animals.
Donotstore orcarryflammableliquids,gasesor explosivematerials inthe samecompartment as your
device,its parts or accessories.

To discouragetheft,do not leavethedeviceand accessories in plainview in an unattendedvehicle.
Do notleavethedeviceandits accessories in avehicle indirectsunlight.Overheating maydamagethe
device.

Use aspecifiedbatteryintheequipment.
About the charger
Do notuse thecharger ina high moisture environment.Nevertouchthe charger when your handsor feet are
wet.
Allow adequateventilation around thecharger whenusing it tooperatethe deviceor chargethe battery.Do
not cover thecharger withpaper or other objects thatwillreducecooling.Donotusethechargerwhile itis
insideacarrying case.
Connectthecharger to aproper powersource.Thevoltagerequirements are foundontheproductcase and/or
packaging.
Do notuse thecharger if thecord becomes damaged.
Do not attempttoservicetheunit. Thereareno serviceableparts inside. Replacethe unitif itis damagedor
exposedto excess moisture.

Use thespecified battery type in theequipment.
