1. Description of the URIPHON
®
classic
The URIPHON
®
classic is a small, handy and light alarm which is worn as a shoulder
strap and is connected via pushbutton contacts to an absorbent insert fastened
inside the underpants. The universal inserts can be used in any underpants, ensuring
continuous usage without a drying phase. After the alarm has been triggered,
repeated and immediate reuse is possible by simply connecting a new insert.
Specialist underpants are not needed.
The URIPHON
®
classicdoes not have an on/off switch; the device is ready for use as
soon as a connection is made between the alarm and the inserts.
Before first use, the URIPHON
®
classicmust be correctly configured, this process is
set out in point 3 “Setup”.

3. Setup
Open the URIPHON
®
classic by pulling on the Velcro tab that covers the electronic
circuit board. Gently pull the electronic circuit board out of the bag (Fig. 2) until the
battery holder for the Lithium battery is exposed (Fig. 3). Remove the (supplied)
Lithium battery (CR2032, 3V) from its packaging and insert it into the battery holder
(Fig. 3). Important: When inserting the battery take care to insure the polarity is
correct. The positive terminal of the battery must be at the top!
Completely slide the electronic circuit board (Fig. 4) back into the pocket and seal it
by pressing lightly on the Velcro tab.
The URIPHON ® classic is now ready for use.

4. Testing the device
To check that the URIPHON
®
classic is working correctly, use a coin or another
electronically conductive object to connect both push buttons contacts (Fig.5,
contacts B and C). The alarm will sound.
If no alarm is sounded or the alarm volume is very low, the Lithium battery must be
replaced with a new one.
Turn off the alarm by tapping contacts A and B (Fig. 5) together.
Important:
Before using the URIPHON
®
classic for the first time, check that all items listed in
point 2 “In the URIPHON
®
classic package” are included.
For hygiene reasons the inserts are excluded from exchange.

5. Application
We suggest using several tight fitting underpants or briefs (of the appropriate size) for
the duration of treatment with the URIPHON
®
classic.
The device came with three absorbent inserts which are placed so that the centre of
each of the insert is applied in the underpants in front of the urethral opening.
The inserts are attached using the glue dots.
The alarm of the URIPHON
®
classic is located in the upper part of the shoulder belt
(see Fig. 4) and should be placed by the clavicle and close to the ear. The belt
should be a tight fit. The child is quickly woken when the intense, intermittent alarm is
activated. The URIPHON
®
classic is activated once the push buttons in the shoulder
strap and the contact pad are connected.
Before each use of the URIPHON
®
classic carry out a function test, do this as set
out in point 4, ‘Testing the Device’.
Important:
The Lithium battery (3 volt, type CR2032) supplied in the box has a capacity of 240
mAh. The operating life of this battery depends on the amount of wake-up alarms
created. Experience suggests that the battery will last about one year.
9
6. Operating the URIPHON
®
classic
The alarm is triggered by a small amount of urine.
This will wake the child who will, get up and go to the toilet for urination.
Turning off the alarm is deliberately awkward; this is done to prevent the child from
accidently turning the alarm off.
To turn off the alarm:
1. Separate the push-button connection between the URIPHON
®
classic and
contact insert (Fig. 6).
Fig. 6
2. Fold the end of the shoulder strap to make contact between buttons A and B -
the alarm turns off (Fig. 5).
Important:
If the area of blue ribbon around the push buttons become wet, the alarm cannot be
turned off. If this happens, remove the battery (as described in section 9, battery
replacement), and replace the battery once the device is completely dry.
10
After the child has visited the toilet for urination, dry underwear with a fresh insert
must be worn. Once the new connection is made the URIPHON
®
classic is once
again ready for use, and the child can return to sleep.
At the start of the therapy, and depending on the age of the child, parental assistance
may be needed to ensure the device is reset correctly.
7. Length of Treatment
Based on general experience the average length of treatment is about 6 – 8 weeks.
It is not advisable to interrupt the treatment until the child has at least 14 consecutive
dry nights. It is highly recommended to discuss all questions related to treatment with
a doctor.
8. Cleaning and care of the contacts.
Cleaning the contact inserts is done with commercial detergents (hand wash 40 ° C).
After a thorough rinsing between two dry towels, lay the inserts smooth and press out
the moisture with a cloth, do not wring the inserts. Then hang them to dry. For reuse,
the insert must be absolutely dry, as residual moisture can trigger the alarm.
To prolong the life of the inserts, it is recommended to soak them for several hours
after use in in a container filled with clean water.
The contact inserts should be tested at regular intervals. To do this, ensure they are
completely dry and then insert them into the device, wet them with a few drops of
water, which should be immediately absorbed, at which time the alarm will be
triggered.
If during the test, the water droplets remain on the surface of the insert and are not
absorbed, then the inserts need to be replaced with new ones.
