Connecting power to Base Unit/Handset Charger
1. Plug the AC power adapter into an electrical outlet, and the DC connector into
thebottom of the BaseUnit.

Installation of Battery Cells in Handset
Setup
Followthe steps below:
1. Place the new battery cells in the
andset with the positive and negative
poles aligned in the battery compart-
ment.
2. Place the battery cover by sliding it
upwards
3. Ifthenew battery cells are notalready
charged, place the Handset in its
Charger, and allow it to charge for 12
hours. After initial charge, a mainte-
nance charge of 8 hours should be
sufficient.
Getting Started
Charging of the Handset Battery Cells
TheHandsetofyour cordless telephone is powered by rechargeablebatterycells.
It charges automatically whenever the Handset is in its charger.
You should charge the battery pack for 12 hours when you first receive your
phone. You’ll know the battery pack needs charg-
ingwhen:
• The low battery message is displayed :
• TheHandsetseemscompletely dead, the LCD is
completelyclearanddoesnotactivatewhenyou
press the keys.
IMPORTANT:
1. Do not dispose of battery cell in a fire, the cell may explode.
2. Do not open or mutilate the battery cell. Toxic substances may be released,
causing harm to eyes or skin.
3. Exercise care in handling battery cell in order to prevent an accidental short of
thecharge contacts, potentially causing the battery packto overheat.
4. Do not dispose of this battery cell into household garbage. Please refer to the
informationconcerningproperbattery recycling.
5. Do not charge the battery cell with other electrical device.

Checking for dial tone

Yourphone is preset for tone dialing. See Handset Settings for details.

1. PlugtheACadaptersintoanelectrical outlet,andtheDC connectortothe bottom
of the Base Unit.
2. Connectthe telephone line cord tothe jack on thebottom of the Base Unit,and
theother end to the wall jack.
3. Lineup the tabs onthe wall mount adapterswith the holes onthe bottom of the
Base Unit/back of the Handset Charger. Snap the wall mount bracket firmly in
place.

Chargerso the mounting studs willfit into the holeson the wallmount bracket.

MakingCalls
• PressON (or, SPEAKERPHONE to use the
Handset Speakerphone feature). Dial the
phonenumber.
-OR-
• Dial the phone number first; then press ON
(orSPEAKERPHONE).
• Press OFF to end your call.
AnsweringCalls
• PressanykeyexceptOFF and the softkeys.
• Press OFF to end your call.
How to Adjust the Handset Volume (alsoap-
pliestothe Handset Speakerphone and Head-
set)
• Thevolumecontrol is on the left edgeofthe
Handset. During a call, press or key
to adjust the listening volume to a comfort-
ablelevel.
NOTE:Theprocedureis thesamefor theHand-
setearpiece,Speakerphoneand Headset.
Flash Function
• Youcanuseyour ip 5825 with servicessuch
as Call Waiting. Simply press the ON/
FLASH keyto flash the line.
Redial Funtion
• Press REDIAL/PAUSE to display the last
telephonenumberdialed from the Handset.
Use or to scroll through the 5 previ-
ouslydialednumbers.
• When reach the desired number, press ON
orSPEAKER to dial.
• Press OFF will quit the redial review list.
Mute Function
• Duringan active call,press MUTE/DEL key
willdisablethemicrophone. Thescreen will
display:
• PressMUTE/DEL again to return tonormal

Intercom Call
• Fromtheidel(OFF)mode, pressINT. The
Handsetwilldisplay:
• The other Handset will be ringed and the
screen will display:
• Press INT or SPEAKER to answer the
interzcom call. The screens will display:
• Press INT or SPEAKER again to end the
call.
• If the other Handset is out of range, turned
off oronanexternalcall,abusy tone will be
heardintheearpiece,orthroughthespeaker
if in hands free mode. The display will also
showthefollowing.
Call Forward and Call Transfer
Anexternalcallcanbeforwardedortransferred
from one Handset to the other Handset. The
difference between forward and transfer de-
pendsonifthe sending Handset needs totalk
with the receiving Handset, before the exter-
nal call is actually sent to the other Handset.
• A Handset, says HS1, on an external call
can forward it to the other Handset, says
HS2, by press and hold theINT key. The
displayof HS1 will initially show:
• The other Handset (HS2) can press ON to
answerthe call.

Call Transfer
• A Handset, says HS1, on an external call can forward it to the other Handset,
says HS2, by press the INT key.
NOTE:The external callis put on hold automatically.
• Destination Handset (HS2) will ring, showing an intercom call.
• Press ON on the destination Handset (HS2) will answer the intercom call.
• Discussing external call with other Handset.
• Press OFF, on the first Handset (HS1), to transfer external call to other Hand
set.
NOTE: If there is no answer on the destination Handset, the first Handset can be
reconnected to the held call by pressing ON to reconnect to the external call.
Conference Call
It is possible to establish a conference be-
tweentwo Handsets and the externalline.
If a Handset already has a connection to the
external line, and another Handset goes off-
hook,aconferenceis immediatelyestablished.
Both Handsets will show:

From the Base Unit, you can use PAGE key
topage the Handsets.
• When the Handset is in idle, press PAGE.
TheHandsets will display:
• To end the page at the Base, press PAGE
again.
• ToendthepageattheHandset,press OFF.
NOTE: If the other Handset (HS2) do not re-
sponsein about 30 seconds,the external call
willbe returned to theHandset (HS1) and the
displaywill show:

Phone Book Operation
Thephonebookisenteredviathemenu,asdescribedbelow or by pressing the
key in idle (quick access key) whereby the Handset jumps directly to the phone
booksearchmenu.
The phone book is accessed as follows:
• Press SEL, to enter the menu.
• Press SEL again to enter the phone book
sub-menu.

Theip 5825 canstore up to 50 names/numbersinmemory. Eachmemorylocation
can hold up to 32 digits and up to 16 characters for the name.
NOTE: The Handsets share a common phone book, which is stored in the base
station. This means that entries inserted by one Handset are available for both
Handsets,andifone deletes a phone book entry, itwilldisappearfromboth Hand-
sets.
When prompted to ENTER NAME, use the digit keys to ‘spell’ the name. Each
press of a particular key causes characters to be displayed in the following order:

Storing a new entry
• Followed the steps in page 13 to enter the
Phone Book sub-menu. Press (upper arrow)
or(downarrow)toscrolltoSTOREthen press
SEL.
• Enterthe numberyouwant tostoreinmemory.
Press DELETE key to backspace.
• Incase the number exceeds 16 digits, thetop
line will be used to show the entire number.
Press SEL to confirm the number.
NOTE: If there is duplicate number in the Phone
Book, the display will show:
• You will then be prompted to ENTER NAME.
Use the digit keys to ‘spell’ the name. If you
make a mistake, press the DELETE key to
backspace. When finished, press SEL.
• If there is space available in Phone Book, the
number/name will be saved and the Handset
willreturntopre-dialmode.
• If the Phone Book is full, the Handset will dis-
playPHONEBOOK IS FULL and exit the pre-
dialmodewithout saving the entry.
Reviewing/Dialing from the phone book
A number can be recalled and dialed from the
phonebook by:
• Followed the steps in page 13 to enter the
Phone Book sub-menu. With the REVIEW in
thefirst line, press SEL. Thefirst phone book
entry will be shown.

Delete a phone book entry
1) Follow the two steps in Reviewing/Dialing a
phone book entry to reach the entry to be de-
leted.
2) Press DELETE key then the screen will ask
DE LETE?
3) To confirm the deletion, press SEL. To exit
with out deleting press OFF.

Calls Log (Caller ID - Call Waiting)
Caller ID - Call Waiting ID
Yourip 5825 is capable ofdisplaying the name and/ornumber of the party calling
beforeyou answer the phone (Caller ID). It isalso capable ofdisplaying Caller ID
informationinconjunction with a Call Waitingalert signal (Call Waiting Caller ID).
WithCallWaitingCaller ID,theCallerIDdata isdisplayedsoyoucan decidewhether
toanswer the incoming call, or continue withyour current conversation.
NOTESABOUT CALLER ID & CALL WAITING CALLER ID
Thesearesubscriptionservices,provided by most regional telephone service
providers. You must subscribe to these services to get the benefits of these
features. If you do not subscribe to Caller ID services, you can still use
your ip 5825 and the other features it offers.
Duetoregional incompatibilities, Caller ID information may not be available for
every call you receive. In addition, the calling party may intentionally block
theirnameandphonenumberfrom being sent.
• As new Caller ID/Call Waiting ID records are
receive,yourHandsetsdisplays will alert you
to the new Caller ID records, for example:
• AfteryoureviewallnewCallerIDrecords,the
NEW callindication will be turned off and the
screenwill show thetotal number ofrecord.
• If the call log is full, the oldest entry is deleted
tomake room for the new call. If thecalllogis
empty when you try to enter to Call Log re-
view,a messagethefollowing messageisdis-
played:
Reviewing Caller ID
Youcan reviewthecallerIDrecord viathemenu,
asdescribed below or by pressingthe key in
idle (quick access key) whereby the Handset
jumps directly to the caller ID review.
• In idle mode, press SEL to enter the menu.
• Press key to scroll to CALL LOG option.

scrollthrough the Call Log entries.
NOTE: ‘!’ symbol in the right hand side of the first
line indicates the call is not yet reviewed.
Storing a Caller ID
• Followthe stepsinReviewing Caller ID toscroll
to the record to be stored.
• Press SEL then you will prompted to EDIT
NAME. Use the digit keys to ‘spell’ the name.
If you make a mistake, press the DELETE key
to backspace. When finished, press SEL.
• Youwillhearahappytonethenthescreen will
