standards and is easy to use. Nevertheless, please take the time to read these oper-
ating instructions in order to familiarize yourself with the appliance and get the best
use out of it.

Safety precautions
In accordance with the requirements of IEC 60335-1:
䡲This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, un-
less supervised or unless they have been given instruction concerning the use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Before using for the first time
䡲The appliance must be installed and connected to the electricity supply in accord-
ance with the separate installation instructions. The necessary work should be car-
ried out by a qualified fitter or electrician.
䡲Dispose of the packaging material in accordance with local regulations.
䡲Change the user settings to suit your own needs.
The appliance corresponds to recognised technology stand
ards and the relevant safety regulations. Proper use of the
appliance is however essential to avoid damage and acci
dents. Please therefore follow the precautions given in these
operating instructions.

Correct use
䡲The appliance is for collecting the costs of operating a washing machine or tumble
dryer. No liability is assumed for any damage caused by improper or incorrect
use.
䡲Any repairs, modifications or manipulations to the appliance, especially any
electrically live parts, may only be carried out by the manufacturer, its Customer
Services or similarly qualified persons. Repairs if carried out incorrectly may cause
serious injury, damage to the appliance and fittings, as well as affect the
functioning of the appliance. If the appliance is not working properly or in case of
a repair order, follow the instructions given in the 'Repair service' section. If
necessary, please contact Customer Services.
䡲Retain these operating instructions for future reference. If you sell the appliance or
pass it on to a third party, please ensure these operating instructions accompany
the appliance. In this way, the new owner can inform themselves about how to use
the appliance correctly and read the pertinent safety precautions.
Children in the home
䡲Packaging material (e.g. plastic, polystyrene) can be dangerous for children.
Danger of suffocation! Keep packaging material away from children.
䡲The appliance is designed for use by adults who are familiar with these operating
instructions. Children are often unable to recognise the danger of electrical
appliances. Ensure their proper supervision and do not allow children to play with
the appliance.
Note on use
䡲If the appliance is visibly damaged, do not use it. Contact our Customer Services.
䡲Do not spray the appliance with water. Do not use a steam cleaner.

Your appliance
Appliance description
The cashier system controls the power supply to the appliance connected based on
the amount entered. Measured and charged is the length of time that electricity is
used. Enough coins (CHF / EUR) or tokens have to be entered for a complete wash
or drying programme.
Recommendations for use
The appliance does not give change. If operated with coins, it is recommended that
a basic amount, e.g. (CHF / EUR), be entered. This ensures that the longest
possible programme runs correctly.
At the end of the wash day, the user makes the amount up to again.
The appliance does not always charge the same amount of money for the
same wash or drying programmes as the length of time that electricity is used
depends on various factors (load, amount and temperature of water, voltage,
etc.).

Display messages
On using for the first time, a short system test is carried out automatically.
– The current software version, e.g. / , is shown in the display.
– If the credit is zero, is shown in the display.
– If the decimal point is flashing in the display, power is being drawn by the appli-
ance and being deducted from the credit.
– If the credit falls below the warning threshold, then this alternates with
in the display. If the credit is exhausted, the appliance switches off auto-
matically.
– If the coin box is full, is shown in the display.
Inserting coins
Model 245
ACoins are inserted in the coin/token slot.
– The current credit is shown in the display.
Model 246
ASelect desired appliance.
– The display with the current credit flashes for
5seconds.
AInsert coins while the display is flashing.
– The current credit is shown in the display.

Emptying the coin box
Coins accepted by the coin validator drop into the coin box. It can hold approximate-
ly 400 coins. If a coin is not validated, it automatically drops into the return slot.
AUse the key to remove the coin
box cover 1.
ARemove the coin box 2, empty
it and then put it back.
AAs a check, read off the totalis-
er.
APut the coin box cover 1back
and lock.
Deleting credit
Example: You have a credit of and would like to delete it.
ADepress the «+» and «–» settings keys at the same time for about 6 seconds.

Totaliser
Total coins entered can be shown in the display.
ADepress the «–» settings key for about 3 seconds.

If the total is greater than , the «+» settings key can be used to show the
«100s» and the «–» settings key can be used to show the «1s».
Model 246
Here, the «100s» are shown in the display for appliance 1 and the «1s» are shown
in the display for appliance 2. Example: The totaliser gives the total amount as
237.30

The display also changes if:

Calculation
The charges to be defined for the appliance are based on the operating costs of the
washing machine or tumble dryer connected.
The operating costs comprise the costs of the electricity and water consumed as well
as of any service agreement.
Example calculation for a washing machine with a 6 kg load
capacity
Basis: Main programme Coloureds 60 °C without a pre-wash
In the absence of any of the individual components of the calculation, we recommend
a charge of CHF 0.90 per hour for washing and CHF 1.20 per hour for drying.
The values indicated below are average values. These can (depending on
local electricity and water tariffs as well as service agreement costs) vary
widely.

Settings
Different settings (parameters) can be set for the appliance. This is described below
for both models.
ADepress the «SET» settings key for about 3 seconds.
– appears in the display (model 245).
– appears in the displays (model 246).
APress the «+» or the «–» settings key to toggle between the parameters.
APress the «SET» settings key to select a parameter.
AUse the «+» or «–» settings key to change the value.
APress the «SET» settings key to accept the value.
– The setting is saved.
ATo exit, depress the «SET» settings key for about 3 seconds.
Depending on the setting, only the relevant parameters that can be changed are
shown.
It is possible to exit the settings without saving if:
䡲no settings key is pressed for one minute,
䡲a coin is inserted,
䡲or an appliance is selected (model 246).
Example: With the setting for token operation, the parameters to
(CHF and EUR) are not visible.

System initialization
Hold the «+» and «–» settings keys depressed for about
6 seconds. The values of all parameters are restored to the factory
settings. Any settings that have been made will be lost.
Software version Shows the current software version.
If the value of the parameters 51 to 60 is set at 0.00, the corresponding
coin/token will not be accepted.

Disposal
Packaging
䡲All packaging materials (cardboard, plastic film (PE) and polystyrene (EPS)) are
marked and should, if possible, be collected for recycling and disposed of in an
environmentally friendly way.
Disconnection
䡲Disconnect the appliance from the mains. With a fixed appliance, this is to be
carried out by a qualified electrician!
Safety
䡲Disable the appliance to prevent accidents caused by improper use, especially
through children playing.
䡲Pull the plug out of the mains socket or have the appliance disconnected from the
mains by a qualified electrician. Then cut off the mains cable.
Disposal
䡲The old appliance should not be discarded as worthless rubbish. If disposed of
correctly, the raw materials can be recovered for recycling.
䡲The symbol on the identification plate warns that the appliance may not be
disposed of in normal household waste.
䡲The appliance must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations on waste
disposal. For more information on the handling, disposal and recycling of the prod-
uct, please contact the local authorities, the local recycling facilities for household
waste or the retailer from whom you purchased the appliance.
