1 - GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
mPrior to proceeding with installation, it is essential the
instructions be read in full, since they contain important
information regarding safety, installation, use and
maintenance.
AUTOMATION MUST BE IMPLEMENTED IN COMPLIANCE WITH
THE EUROPEAN REGULATIONS IN FORCE:
EN 60204-1, EN 12445, EN 12453, EN 13241-1, EN 12635
• Theinstallermustprovideforadevice(es.magnetotermical
switch)ensuringtheomnipolarsectioningoftheequipment
fromthepowersupply.Thestandardsrequireaseparationof
thecontactsofatleast3mmineachpole(EN60335-1).
• TheplasticcasehasanIP44insulation;toconnectexibleor
rigidpipes,usepipettingshavingthesameinsulationlevel.
• Installationrequiresmechanicalandelectricalskills,thereforeit
shallbecarriedoutbyqualiedpersonnelonly,whocanissue
theComplianceCerticateconcerningthewholeinstallation
(MachineDirective2006/42/CEE,AnnexIIA).
• Alsotheautomationupstreamelectricsystemshallcomplywith
thelawsandrulesinforceandbecarriedoutworkmanlike.
• Werecommendtomakeuseofanemergencybutton,tobe
installedbytheautomation(connectedtothecontrolunit
STOPinput)sothatthebarriermaybeimmediatelystoppedin
caseofdanger.
• Forcorrectinstallationofthesystem,werecommendfollowing
theinstructionsissuedbyUNACverycarefully.
• Thisinstructionmanualisonlyforqualiedtechnicians,who
specializeininstallationsandautomations.
• Thecontentsofthisinstructionmanualdonotconcerntheend
user.
• Everyprogrammingand/oreverymaintenanceserviceshould
bedoneonlybyqualiedtechnicians.
• Anythingnotexpresslydescribedintheseinstructionsis
prohibited;unforeseenusesmaybeasourceofdangerto
peopleandproperty.
• Donotinstalltheproductinexplosiveenvironmentsand
atmospheres:thepresenceofinammablegasesorfumesisa
serioussafetyhazard.
• Donotmakeanymodicationstoanypartoftheautomation
device,ortheaccessoriesconnectedtoit,unlessdescribedin
thismanual.
• Anyothermodicationswillvoidthewarrantyontheproduct.
• Theinstallationstepsshouldbeconductedsoastoavoidrainy
weather,whichcanexposeelectroniccircuitstodangerous
waterseepage.
• Alloperationsrequiringthecasingofthedevicetoopened
shouldbeperformedwiththecontrolunitdisconnectedfrom
theelectricitysupplyandwithawarningnoticedisplayed,for
example:”CAUTION,MAINTENANCEINPROGRESS”.
• Avoidexposingthedeviceclosetosourcesofheatandame.
• Intheeventofinterventionsonautomaticordifferential
breakersorfuses,itisessentialthatfaultsbeidentiedand
resolvedpriortoresetting.Inthecaseoffaultsthatcannot
beresolvedusingtheinformationtobefoundinthismanual,
consulttheV2customerassistanceservice.
• V2declinesallresponsibilityforfailuretocomplywithgood
constructionpracticestandardsinadditiontostructural
deformationofthebarrierthatmightoccurduringuse.
• V2reservestherighttomakemodicationstotheproduct
withoutpriorwarning.
• Installation/maintenancepersonnelshouldwearindividual
protectiondevices(IPDs),suchasoveralls,safetyhelmets,boots
andgloves.
• Theambientoperatingtemperatureshouldbethatindicatedin
thetechnicalcharacteristicstable.
• Theautomationdeviceshouldbeshutdownimmediatelyin
theeventofanyanomalousorhazardoussituation;thefault
ormalfunctionshouldbeimmediatelyreportedtotheperson
responsible.
• Allsafetyandhazardwarningsonthemachineryand
equipmentshouldbecompliedwith.
• Theautomationisnotintendedtobeusedbypeople(including
children)withdiminishedphysical,sensoryormentalcapacity,
orlackinginexperienceorknowledge,unlesstheyareunder
supervisionorhavebeeninstructedinuseoftheactuatorbya
personresponsibleforsafety.
V2 has the right to modify the product without previous
notice; it also declines any responsibility to damage or
injury to people or things caused by improper use or wrong
installation.

1.1 - PRELIMINARY CHECKS AND IDENTIFICATION OF THE TYPE TO BE USED
Theautomationdeviceshouldnotbeuseduntilinstallation,asspeciedin“Testingandstart-up”,hasbeenperformed.
Itshouldberememberedthatthedevicedoesnotcompensatefordefectscausedbyimproperinstallation,orpoormaintenance,thus,prior
toproceedingwithinstallation,ensurethatthestructureissuitableandmeetscurrentstandardsand,ifnecessary,performanystructural
modicationsaimedattheimplementationofsafetygapsandtheprotectionorsegregationofallcrushing,shearingandtransitzones,and
verifythat:
• Thesupportonwhichtheautomationdevicewillbexedissolidanddurable.
• Themainspowersupplytowhichtheautomationdeviceisconnectedhasadedicatedsafetyearthingsystemanddifferentialbreaker
withtrippingcurrentlessthanorequalto30mA(thebreakergapdistanceshouldbegreaterthanorequalto3mm).
Warning: The minimum safety level depends on the type of use; please refer to the following outline:
GROUP 1 -Onlyalimitednumberofpeopleareauthorisedforuse,andclosureisnotinapublicarea.Examplesofthistypearegatesinside
businesspremises,wherethesoleusersareemployees,orapartofthemwhohavebeensuitablyinformed.
GROUP 2 -Onlyalimitednumberofpeopleareauthorisedforuse,butinthiscase,closureisinapublicarea.Anexampleofthismaybea
companygatethataccessesontoapublicstreet,andwhichisonlyusedbyemployees.
GROUP 3 -Anyonecanusetheautomatedclosure,whichisthuslocatedonpublicland.Forexampletheaccessgatetoasupermarketor
anofce,orahospital.
PROTECTION A -Closureisactivatedbymeansofacontrolbuttonwiththepersonpresent,i.e.withmaintainedaction.
PROTECTION B -Withthepersonpresent,closureisactivatedbyacommandcontrolledbymeansofakey-switchorthelike,inorderto
preventusebyunauthorisedpersons.
PROTECTION C -Restrictstheforceoftheboom.I.e.,inthecaseofthebommstrikinganobstacle,theimpactforcemustfallwithina
curveestablishedbytheregulations.
PROTECTION D -Devices,suchasphotocells,capableofdetectingthepresenceofpeopleorobstacles.Theymaybeactiveonjustoneside
oronbothsidesoftheboom.
PROTECTION E -Sensitivedevices,suchasfootboardsorimmaterialbarriers,capableofdetectingthepresenceofaperson,andinstalledin
suchawaythatthelattercannotbestruckinanywaybyamovingboom.Thesedevicesshouldbeactivewithintheentire“dangerzone”
oftheboom.TheMachineryDirectivedenes“DangerZone”asanyzonesurroundingand/ornearmachinerywherethepresenceofan
exposedpersonconstitutesarisktothehealthandsafetyofthatperson.
The risk analysis should take into consideration all danger zones for the automation device, which should be appropriately
protected and marked.
In a clearly visible area, apply a sign with information identifying the motorised door or gate.
The installer should provide the user with all the information relating to automatic operation, emergency opening and
maintenance of the motorised door or gate.

4 - PREPARATION OF THE BASE FOR
AUTOMATION
1. Provideafoundationpitandarrangeoneormoreconduitsfor
thepassageoftheelectricalcabling(FIG.1).
2. Assemblethe4anchoringbracketsonthemountingplateand
fastenwiththe8boltsprovided(FIG.2).
3. Pourtheconcreteintotheinsideofthepitandpositionthe
baseplate
m NOTE: verify that the plate is perfectly leveled and
parallel to the opening barrier
4. Waitforthecompletesettingoftheconcrete
5. Unscrewthe4nutsthatholdthebasejoinedtotheanchoring

Torestoretheautomaticfunction,simply

9 - CONTROL UNIT
PD21isprovidedwithadisplaythat,notonlymakes
programmingsimple,butalsoallowsacontinuousmonitoringof
theinputstatuses;inaddition,thankstoamenustructure,the
workingscheduleandtheoperationlogiccanbeseteasily.
IncompliancewiththeEuropeanstandardsconcerningelectrical
safetyandelectromagneticcompatibility(EN60335-1,
EN50081-1andEN50082-1)ithasbeenequippedwiththelow
voltagecircuittotalelectricinsulation(motorsincluded)fromthe
networkvoltage.

9.2 - ACTIVATION INPUTS
ThecontrolunitPD21hastwoactivationinputsavailable,whose
functionsdependontheprogrammedmodeofoperation(See
voiceStrtontheprogrammingmenu):
Standard mode:rstinput(START1)controlstheopening,the
closingandthearrestdependingontheprogrammingmodeset.
Thesecondinput(START2)causestheopeningofthebarrier
MASTERwhenitisactivatedthesynchronizedoperationoftwo
barriers.
Open/Close and Dead Man mode:aninputcommandon
push-buttonSTART1alwayscommandstheopeningandaninput
commandonpush-buttonSTART2alwayscommandstheclosing.
• IntheOpen/Closemodethecommandisofimpulsivetype,
thatis,animpulsecausesthetotalopeningorclosingofthe
barrier.
• IntheDead Man mode,thecommandisofthemonostable
type,thatisthebarrieropensorclosesaslongasthecontact
isclosedandarrestsimmediatelyifthecontactbecomesopen.
Clock mode:itisanalogoustothestandardmode,butthe
barrierremainsopenedaslongasthecontactremainsclosedon
theinputSTART1;whenthecontactcomesopenedbeginsthe
pausecountdown,whichuponexpiringthebarrierrecloses.
Thisfunctionallowsprogrammingthroughoutthedaythe
openinghourcyclesofthebarrier,usingforthisanexternaltimer.
Itisindispensabletoenableautomaticreclosing.
mATTENTION: in all modes, the input commands must
be connected to devices with normally opened contacts.
ConnectthecablesofthedevicethatcommandstheSTART1
inputbetweenterminalsK3 andK2 ofthecontrolunit.
ConnectthecablesofthedevicethatcommandstheSTART2
inputbetweenterminalsK4andK2ofthecontrolunit.
ThefunctionassociatedtotheSTART1inputcommandcan

Photocellscanbeactivatedintwoways:
1. Only during closing:inwhichcasethepassageinfrontof
thebeamwouldcausetheimmediatereopening.
2. During the opening and closing:inwhichcasethe
interruptionofthebeamcausestheimmediatearrest.When
thebeamisfreed,acompletereopeningofthebarrieroccurs.
mATTENTION: install the photocells to cover the entire
opening / closing surface of the boom.
ThecontrolunitPD21provides24VDCpowersupplyforthe
photocellsanditcantesttheirperformancebeforebeginningthe
openingoftheboom.Anelectronicfusethatshutsdownthe
powersupplyincaseofanoverloadprotectsthepowersupply
terminalsofthephotocells.
