Operate the machine as described in the following safeguards.
Van der Stahl Scientific shall not be responsible for any damages results from the misuse of the
machine against this operating direction.
Warning
・This machine consists of the high performance sensor
and electric circuit that is applied by the distortion
gauge. Avoid rapid temperature change, high humidity,
water, dusts, and strong shock.
・This machine is tensile load measuring equipment. Do
not use the machine other than measuring tensile
load.
・The operating temperature range for this machine is
from 5 to 40 ºC (41 to 104 ºF). For accuracy, it is ideal
that the machine is used in the temperature described
in the certificate of inspection.
・Regardless of the power being ON or OFF, do not twist
or apply force exceeding rated capacity to the sensor
measurement axis.
・When tensile testing the material that might break or
whose fragment may scatter, please operate the
machine after making sure to protect yourself from
getting injured.
・Do not disassemble or modify the machine.
・Remove the thin-film grip on the measurement-side
when not using the machine in order to prevent the
damage to the measuring axis.

Warning
Protective earth
In order to prevent electric shock, please make sure to connect
protective earth before turning on the machine main power.
3-pin power cord with the protective earthing terminal is used
for this machine. Please make sure to use the 3-pin power cord
with protective earthing terminal.
Necessity of protective earth
Do not cut or remove the line of protective earth either inside or
outside the machine. It will be extremely dangerous and will
cause electric shock or damage to the machine.
Defect of protective earth
If there seems to be defection in protective functions such as
protective earth or fuse, do not operate the machine. Also before
operating, please make sure those protective functions are
working properly.
Power cord and plug outlet
Do not use the extension cord or conversion adapter without
protective earth in order to prevent electric shock or fire. It will
deactivate the function of the protective earth.
Power source
Before turning on the main power, please confirm the
connected power source has this machine’s specified voltage
and electric power.
Fuse
In order to prevent fire, use the fuse with rated type, voltage,
and ampere. When replacing fuse, please make sure to turn OFF
the main switch and unplug the cord. Also do not short-circuit
the fuse holder.
Removing the body cover
Do not remove the body cover except for the person who is
allowed by Van der Stahl Scientific since there are some
high voltage parts inside machine.

Surrounding temperature and humidity
Place the machine on a flat place
Do not set the machine to the following places:
Please use the machine in the following work environment.
Place the machine on a sturdy, flat surface to ensure optimum stability. Placing the machine on an unstable
place may affect the precision of the test result due to the instability.
・Exposed to the direct rays of the sun or the heat source.
・Exposed to continuous vibration caused by machines.
・Close to the noise generator such as high voltage products and power source.
・Exposed to the strong electromagnetic pluses.
・With rapid temperature change, high humidity, the dust, and surrounded by the corrosiveness gas.
・Unstable to place the machine.
<Others>
・For more accurate measuring, operate the machine in the temperature described in the certificate of
inspection.
・When installing the machine to the place where humidity is less than 30%, please use products such as
an anti-static mat to prevent static electricity.
・ Condensation occurs when the machine is exposed to the rapid temperature change. If the condensation
occurs, leave the machine in the new environment more than one hour before using. Use the machine
after confirmed that there is no condensation.
