Warnings and Cautions Spring Loaded R-Type Connectors
Warnings and Cautions
WARNING Installation of the cables must be performed by trained personnel only.
WARNING Users, System Installers, and Service Personnel are responsible to
follow all steps outlined for proper installation.
WARNING Use Varex approved receptacles and silicone grease.
WARNING Ensure while handling High Voltage components the following
guidelines are observed:
•Dirt, water, oil, hair, sweat, lint, or other foreign contaminants are not
present
•Use clean, talc-free hand gloves or finger cots
Failure to follow these guidelines can result in High Voltage failures.
WARNING Contaminants may be removed from High Voltage components by
using Isopropyl Alcohol.
•Never apply Isopropyl Alcohol directly to High Voltage components
•Apply Isopropyl Alcohol to a lint-free cloth
•Ensure the Isopropyl Alcohol has evaporated before grease is applied,
compressed-air may be used to aid in evaporation
WARNING Install connectors at room temperature only. Rubber connectors expand
when warm. If installed when warm, the contact pressure between the
connector and receptacle may be affected.
WARNING After the tube is energized with the High Voltage components installed,
the cables can retain an electrical charge. When removing the High
Voltage components:
•Always discharge the Cable before handling
•Touch a grounding rod to the Cable Flange
•Place hands behind the connector on the cable, don’t touch metal parts
•Pull the Cable from the receptacle and touch grounding rod to the contact
tip
