CONTRACTOR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Veeder-Root requires the following minimum training certifications for contractors who will install and setup the equipment
discussed in this manual:
Service Technician Certification (Previously known as Level 2/3): Contractors holding valid Technician Certifications are
approved to perform installation checkout, startup, programming and operations training, system tests, troubleshooting and
servicing for all Veeder-Root Series Tank Monitoring Systems, including Line Leak Detection.
TLS-4xx Technician Certification: Contractors holding valid TLS-450 Technician Certifications are approved to perform
installation checkout, startup, programming and operations training, troubleshooting and servicing for all Veeder-Root TLS-450
Series Tank Monitoring Systems, including Line Leak Detection and associated accessories.
Warranty Registrations may only be submitted by selected Distributors.
SAFETY WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN
SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH, AND/OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
THIS SYSTEM OPERATES NEAR HIGHLY COMBUSTIBLE FUEL STORAGE TANKS.
EXPLOSIVE: Fuels and their vapors are extremely explosive if ignited.
FLAMMABLE: Fuels and their vapors are extremely flammable.
READ ALL RELATED MANUALS: Knowledge of all related procedures before you begin work is important. Read and
understand all manuals thoroughly. If you do not understand a procedure, ask someone who does.
USE SAFETY BARRICADES: Unauthorized people or vehicles in the work area are dangerous. Always use safety cones or barricades,
safety tape, and your vehicle to block the work area.
APPROVED CONTAINER: Use a nonbreakable, clearly marked container, suitable for collecting and transporting hazardous
fuels during service.
NOTICE: Indicates information considered important, but not hazard-related.
WARNING: Indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
To ensure proper installation, operation, and continued safe use of this product:
1. Read and follow all instructions in this manual, including all safety procedures, local and federal guidelines.
2. Have equipment installed by a contractor trained in its proper installation and in compliance with all applicable codes
including: National Electrical Codes 70 and 30A; federal, state, and local codes; and other applicable safety codes.
3. Substitution of components may impair intrinsic safety.
4. Do not modify or use service parts other than those provided by Veeder-Root.

PROCEDURE
Tag, lockout power to the STP.
1. Close the STP Adapter ball valve to isolate the HydrX from the pump (see Figure 1).
2. Get the drain hose from the kit (see Figure 2) and attach the quick connect end of the hose to the waste water drain
connector, marked ‘D’ on top of the manifold.
3. Turn on power to the STP and re-open the STP Adapter ball valve.
4. If the ATG is controlling the HydrX, follow the instructions in the Drain Waste Water- TLS-4xx Controlled HydrX section
below. If a FCC is controlling the HydrX, follow the instructions in the Drain Waste Water - FCC Controlled HydrX section
below.
DRAIN WASTE WATER - TLS-4xx CONTROLLED HydrX
1. Touch Menu>Diagnostics>HydrX to open the HydrX Diagnostic Screen, then touch Overview (Item 1, Figure 3) to
open the HydrX Diagnostics Overview screen (Figure 4).

2. Touch the Actions button (Item 1, Figure 5) to open the HydrX diagnostic service buttons menu (see Figure 5). Note: Gray
Action buttons are disabled.

3. Touch the Drain button (Item 2, Figure 5) to run a Drain cycle. The Drain Cycle interval depends on time entered in HydrX
setup.
4. After touching the drain button, a confirmation message will appear reading ‘Are you sure you want to execute a drain
event’ select the check mark to proceed with the drain cycle, or click the X mark to cancel the action.
5. Place the nozzle into the approved waste water container and open the nozzle to begin the draining process.
6. After filling the container, or until the draining automatically stops (the float is on the bottom of the HydrX tank), release the
nozzle. and close the STP Adapter ball valve.
7. If the HydrX float does not reach 0" during the programmed drain interval, a 'Drain Warning' will post. If the drain cycle is
repeated and the Drain Warning is still present, debris may be interfering with the float travel. Debris must be removed to
regain proper float travel. Refer to the ‘Drain Warning’ alarm in the HydrX System Maintenance Alerts table in manual
577014-493.
Tag, lockout power to the STP.
8. Disconnect the drain hose from the HydrX Drain port and replace the cap on the drain fitting.
9. Turn on power to the STP.
10. Re-open the STP Adapter ball valve.

Dispose of waste water according to local guidelines.
Drain cycle is not executable via the web interface. Drain cycle must be executed via the GUI.
DRAIN WASTE WATER - FCC CONTROLLED HydrX
1. At the Fuel Conditioning Controller Home screen (see Figure 6), touch the Service button to open the FCC Service Home
screen (see Figure 7.

2. Touch the Auto Drain button.
3. Place the nozzle into the approved waste water container and open the nozzle to fill the five gallon tank.
4. After filling the container, or until the draining automatically stops (the float is on the bottom of the HydrX tank), release the
nozzle and close the STP Adapter ball valve.
If drain cycle completes and the water float is reading above 0 the drain cycle may be repeated. If after
running an additional drain cycle the water float is still reading above 0, clean solid debris from the
bottom of the HydrX waste water tank (accessed through the Outlet Filter housing).
Tag, lockout power to the STP.
5. Disconnect the drain hose from the HydrX Drain port and replace the cap on the drain fitting.
6. Turn on power to the STP.
7. Re-open the STP Adapter ball valve.
