- The user Plant Manager and the operators must strictly comply with the

•This instructions manual is applicable to all operators responsible for

1CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATING PRINCIPLE
1.1 Construction :
-Frame : Steel and SG cast iron
- Brake motor : IP 54 construction, 1 or 2 speed lifting type, built-in electromagnetic
brake
- Reduction gear : under sealed casing, greased for life, treated and ground helical
teeth
- Drum : composed of two flanges and a steel hub, designed so that the belt winds on
spirally
- Belt : the belt was specially designed for our company. it is tested and delivered with a
certificate of conformity, it has a safety factor exceeding 7, and it resistant to acids,
bases, mineral salts, solvents and oil products. It maintains their characteristics at the
following temperatures:
•Po belt : between - 20° and + 80°
•Dy belt : between - 30° and + 120°
- Electrical box : IP 55 protection, attached to hoist, and contains the following in the
standard version
•Safety transformer
•Protection by transformer fuses
•Lifting reversing switch
•Lifting temperature relay
•Top and bottom limit switch
•Load limiter relay
•Connection terminal block
- Button box : Complies with rules in force, cable length depending on the standard
lifting height.
Double push button for two lifting and translation speeds.
Emergency stop button allowing the user to isolate the hoist from the mains electricity
supply.
Optional : Additional buttons to control other movements.
- Load limiter : This electromechanical device does not change the dimensions of the
hoist. It enable a safety adjustment on site if there is overload.
- Steel construction 4-wheel crab, electric drive, 2-speed brake motor.
- Adjustable sides to allow installation of monorail on different support beam widths.

When motor 3 is powered by electricity box 2, the electromagnetic brake 4 is released,
the motor starts rotating driving lifting gear 5 and finally drum 1 rises into direct contact
with the axis of the reduction gear.

or the hoisting trolley either as a single unit or as several units. Any other kind of use (e.g.
hoisting motion) is forbidden. Machinery is suitable for indoor use. Please note possible
restrictions for special environments (e.g. galvanization plants).

Frequency converter for travelling motor

General
The electrical box contains a frequency variator controlling the speed of rotation of the
travelling movement motor and brake. The frequency variator changes the rotary speed of the
travelling movement motor in accordance with the instructions given by the operator.
The frequency variator is equipped with an indicator light (3) indicating the operating
condition and another indicator (2) indicating defective operation. When the operating
indicator light (3) is lit, the frequency variator is in service. When indicator light (3) flashes, it
indicated a malfunction, though not aborting the mechanism. When fault indicator light (2)
glows, this indicates that a malfunction aborting operation has occurred.
The parameters of the frequency variator are factory-pre-set through the parameter
adjustment buttons (4). All connections to the frequency variator pass through connector (1).

2RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
•The force marked on the hoist is the maximum load that it can lift.
•Check that there is no cause of overload such as adhesion to the ground, suction,
jamming.
•Never lift a load that is not vertical and never swing the load.
•Do not fatigue the button box cable by unnecessary or exaggerated torsion; the
conductor wires could break.
•Do not lift by pressing repeatedly on the buttons; this would overheat the motor.
•The hoist must be used in equipment with FEM (European Handling Federation)
marking.
•No mechanical or electrical modification or adaptation shall be made without the
prior written permission of the plant, otherwise the guarantee will no longer be valid.
•A periodic maintenance check is necessary (at least once every year).
•In accordance with the regulations, the user must set up an inspection book in which
all work and inspections made on the hoist shall be entered (see FEM rule 9.755).
•Regularly check the position of the belt attachment wedge in the fixed point, and that
there are at least three belt turns around the drum shaft beyond the lower limit switch
(see § 5-4)
•Temperature of use:
- Minimum: - 10° C
- Maximum: + 40° C

3IMPORTANT POINTS TO BE CHECKED BEFORE START UP
AND AFTER DOING ANY WORK
- Top and bottom limit switch : Check that limit switches are working correctly and if
necessary adjust them before starting up.
The belt hoist must stop when it reaches the top position and the lift button is pressed.
The belt hoist must stop when it reaches the bottom position and the lower button is
pressed.
- Lifting belt: check the condition of the lifting belt, make sure that it is not crushed,
twisted or torn. Check that the belt attachment wedge is in the correct position in the
fixed point.
When the hook is in the low position, there must always be three remaining turns of the
belt on the drum.
- Rollers and pulleys: Check that all rollers and pulleys are turning freely.
- Crab: check that the crab is adjusted to the width of the support beam and that all
attachment nuts and bolts are tight.
- Covers: check that motor covers and electricity box and load limiter covers are
correctly attached.
- Hook and safety catch: Check that the hook rotates correctly and that the safety
catch is working properly.
- Tools: Check that all tooling or other equipment used during installation has been
removed from the hoist.
No mechanical or electrical modifications or adaptations may be made without the
factory’s agreement, otherwise the guarantee will no longer be valid.

5.2 Connection to the network
Before connection the hoist to the network, check that the voltage marked on the lifting
and translation motor name plates matches the mains voltage.
The power supply must be provided through cables with a sufficiently large cross-
section and must be protected by fuses (see table below for calibration).
An isolating switch must be installed close to the hoist.

5.3 Mounting position of the travelling machinery
Travelling machinery unit is to be mounted so that the electric box is on the side of the motor
and connecting cables are pointing downwards (see picture above).
Different mounting position than pictured above will reduce the cooling of electric box. As a
result, inverter may overheat and damage.
Assembling the travelling machinery unit
Ensure that the working area is safe and the machine cannot be started accidentally when making the
assembly work. Be sure to switch off securely the electric power from the device to avoid the electric
shock and sudden start.
Align the machinery unit with the teeth of the driving wheel and push it against the face surface.
Rotate the machinery to a correct angle to align the fixing bolt holes. Note that the motor brake
prevents the free rotation. For enabling the rotation release the brake (see the instructions of the
motor) or jack the wheel up from the rail.
Turn the fixing bolts loosely to their places not forgetting the washers.
If the wheel was jacked up, lower it down before tightening the fixing bolts.
Wheel must lie on the track when the screws are tightened to ensure that no excessive
loads are directed towards the secondary shaft.
Tighten the fixing bolts to a torque. Recommended tightening torque for M8 bolt is 23 Nm.
Connect the power supply plug to the motor.
Start-up procedure
Make sure that the conditions at the operating site correspond to the operating conditions for which
the travelling machinery is designed (including indoor/outdoor use, ambient temperature/radiance
temperature, wind, dust, splashing, snow, water, handling hazardous materials, fire risk, etc).
Check that the supply voltage and frequency are suitable for the travelling machinery.
Check the correct direction of rotation. Verify that the direction corresponds to the control signal. In
multi-motor systems check that all the units function correctly in series. If any of the motors runs
incorrectly the electric connections have to be checked and corrected by a professional electrician
and/or authorized serviceman. Refer to the electric instructions and electric wiring diagram for further
measures.
Be prepared for equipment moving in the wrong direction when testing.
Check the function of the brake. The brake is factory set and normally ready to be taken into use.
Make an audible check of the running sound of the machinery. Very loud growling sound indicates an
incorrect connection of the motor. This must be corrected immediately. A regular distinct clatter sound
is an indication of a broken bearing and this must be corrected by an authorized serviceman.
Check the vibration during the run by hand. The cause of the excessive vibration must be identified. If
the machinery causes the fault it must be checked by an authorized serviceman.
Check the running temperature during the long-term operation. The temperature rise of the F-class
motor must not exceed 100°C. If the temperature rise is too high the motor may run faulty, the cooling
does not function correctly or the motor is overloaded. The reason must be identified and corrected by
an authorized serviceman.

Ensure that the test drive and commissioning inspection have been properly carried out and that the
hand-over log has been properly completed.
Ensure that any safety devices bypassed for testing purposes are restored to full operational status.
5.4 Adjustment of top and bottom limit switches
Adjustment of bottom limit switch:
Press the lower button, put the hook to the required low level c. Rotate cam fin the
direction of arrow D until contact gis triggered.
Check that there are still at least three complete turns on the drum spindle.
This will be true if the belt is at the outside diameter of washer c.
Adjusting the top limit switch :
The top limit switch is adjusted in the factory.
However, you may need to adjust it (for example if you replace the belt).
- Press on the “lift” button, change to low speed when the pulley block reaches the high
position, and continue to rise until the lower pulley block touches the bottom of the upper
block. Rotate cam gin the direction of the arrow M until contact iis triggered.

6HANDLING AND INSTALLING THE BELT HOIST
6.1 Instructions installing the hoist on its support beam
(see figure on page 19)
a) - Remove the hoist lock nut mark 4.
b) - Unscrew nuts mark 5 to about 10 mm from the end of the tie rod. Remove bearings
mark 6. Pull the side plates outwards.
c) - Place the flats mark 3 at the end of the tie rods; check that threads cover the entire
thickness of the flat.
d) - Fasten lifting slings 1 and 2 as shown on the figure.
e) - Lift the belt hoist using lifting slings 1 and 2. Check that the support beam passes
between the side plates of the crab.
f) - When the lower flange of the steel is below the bearing level of the rollers, push the
side plates inwards towards the support beam. Tighten the four nuts mark 5; tightening
torque = 20 to 25 mdaN. Replace the synchro shaft bearings mark 6.
g) - Relax slings, and remove hooks from flats mark 3.
h) - Remove flats mark 3. Replace the four lock nuts mark 4.
Keep the flats mark 3; they will be useful if you have to move your hoist another time.
6.2 Handling the hoist
The hoist is delivered with four handling flats mark 3. Fasten the slings attached to your
handling equipment into the four holes in these flats mark 3.

8PULLEY BLOCK HOOK AND BELT
- Pulley block hook :
There are 3 types of pulley block hooks:
- 1 pulley for a 2-strand hoist
- 1 pulley and fixed point for a 3-strand hoist
- 2 pulleys for a 4-strand hoist
The pulley block and hook are made of steel, and the pulleys are made of high strength
synthetic material. The pulley block may be made of stainless steel.
- Belt : Description and start up and usage precautions
The custom belts used are specially designed and adapted to our hoists. Their
characteristics are defined on the technical data sheet attached to the hoist.
•Only use belts supplied by us.
•Never use the hoist if the belt is damaged.
•Never lift the hoist if the belt is twisted.
•Never use the belt as a sling.
•Observe the following precautions:
a) - During hoist translation movements, check that the belt does not rub on fixed parts
or on the ground.
b) - Never make any knots in the belt.
c) - If chemical products are used, check that the belt has not softened.
d) - The maximum and minimum temperatures of use of the standard belts and pulley
blocks without any change to properties are + 80° and - 10°.
e) - Belts that are dirty or have been soaked in acids or bases must be washed with cold
water.
f) - Never repair a damaged belt.
Disassembly and assembly :
Custom belts are used (see spare parts manual).
For disassembly :
Completely unwind the belt from the drum spindle. Remove the two screws M 8 con
the reduction gear spindle; the limit switch drive bracket, support washer dand the
drum flange eare released (see diagram next page).
Remove the two ∅5 screws fand the tightening plate g.
Remove the belt.
For reassembly :
Replace the belt on the drum spindle, replace the clamping plate, the two ∅5 screws,
replace the flange, support washer and bracket, tighten the two M 8 screws, start up at
low speed to wind on the entire length of the belt.
The drum must be full.
