LOOKING AF ER HE PRODUC
• Do not apply excessive force to the product’s structures or the controls (knobs, connectors,
push-buttons, etc.).
• When possible, do not place the instrument close to units which generate strong interference,
such as radios, TVs, computer videos, etc.
• Do not place the product close to heat sources, in damp or dusty places or in the vicinity of
strong magnetic fields.
• Do not expose the product to direct sunlight.
• Never insert foreign bodies inside the product or pour liquids of any kind into it.
• For cleaning, use only a soft brush or compressed air; never use detergents, solvents or alco-

• Always use good quality screened cables for connection to amplification or diffusion systems.
When disconnecting cables from sockets, always take hold of the connector and not the cable
itself; when winding cables, do not knot or twist them.
• Before making the connections ensure that the other units (especially amplification and diffu-
sion systems) you are about to connect are switched off. This will prevent noisy or even dan-
gerous signal peaks.
• Connect the net cable to an earthed socket.
• Check that the voltage corresponds to the voltage shown on the serial number plate of the
product.
• If the product is to be out of use for lengthy periods, disconnect the plug from the power
socket.

The OUTSIDER318 speakers have been developed to offer
a sturdy and reliable solution for professionals, bands and
orchestras who need a PA system which requires no instal-
lation and a loud yet clear sound. No need for subwoofers,
arrays of speakers, mounting on tripods and plugging lots
of cables to speakers all around the stage. OUTSIDER318
requires only a few steps to let you play live: carry it
around with the bundled click-fast trolley, plug it and play!
The Outsider 318 is a complete 3-way speaker, and avoids
the combined use of subwoofers and front speakers, incor-
porating our best 18" sub, a 12" midway and the brilliant
horn+driver solution typical of any VERSE system. The
digital amplifier has a 4000W power rating, controlled by
a smart DSP processor.
All the power and flexibility you need at ease: the OUT-
SIDER318 comes equipped with a click-fast carrying sys-
tem, DSP audio presets and the sturdiest build quality
ever seen in a PA system loudspeaker.
DIGI AL AMPLIFIERS
The new digital technology totally changed the way a professional audio amplifier is de-
veloped. No other way make possible to give great power and long term reliability.
Remarkable heat reduction and outstanding weight decrease make digital amplifier, that
equip VERSE OUTSIDER, efficient, powerful and less heating. The output stages of the
amplifiers typically run at 95% efficiency, dissipating only 5% of the input energy as
heat.
To grant reliability and durability, VERSE amplifiers are provided with short-circuit protec-
tion, thermal protection with fan-speed control, protection circuit to cancel direct current
component, protection from ultrasonic components in input and output. The I.T.P (Intelli-
gent Thermal Protect) is warranty of perfect-working and long-lasting speakers.
OP QUALI Y COMPONEN S
Together with high performance amplifiers, VERSE decided to put speakers conceived
specifically to do their best with a so remarkable reserve of power.
The woofer and midway are made with neodymium magnets that allow the highest force
factor and excursion capability, and with ventilated voice coil gap for reduced power
compression. With such components it's easier to obtain huge excursions, "present" and
dynamic bass, high acoustic pressure and mild weights.
The ceramic drivers are provided with aluminium coil winding that increase the efficiency
in the high frequency range, extend the frequency response, achieve a better factor of
acceleration and a higher reliability.
DIGI AL PROCESSING
The processing system included in every OUTSIDER loudspeaker is based on a perform-
ing DSP processor. Sophisticated and innovative processing algorithms have been imple-
mented to ensure total protection of all system components without sacrificing the
dynamic of the sound source. Digital Limiters switch on when transducers safety condi-
tions or maximum amplifier power are going to be exceeded, preventing the loudspeak-
ers from being supplied with higher volume input signals.
The processing unit also includes 3 equalizer presets.

TRANSPORTANDINSTALLATIONThe OUTSIDER speakers can be easily moved with the click-fast transport system pro-
vided. Once the speaker has been moved to the desired position place it stable on the
floor standing vertically. Now simply plug it to the mains and to the mixer.

CONNECTIONSThe audio signal is routed to the OUTSIDER speakers through common
XLR cables coming from your live mixer.
Powercon connectors (a female connector is shown in the figure on the
right) is used to provide AC current to the speakers in chain from a single
power source. Never exceed maximum current limits for devices, equip-
ment, cables, etc. The mains cable provided with your OUTSIDER318 can supply up to
16A, hence it is possible to cascade up to 3 loudspeakers (including the one connected to
the mains).

1. LEVEL: adjusts the incoming signal level.
2. Status LEDs:
- Prot.: indicates that the internal amplifier switched to protection mode due to a fault
of the amplifier itself or of the connected speakers (please call the technical support)
- Temp.: indicates that the internal amplifier switched to protection mode due to
excessive heating. Under these conditions a limiter is activated to steadily reduce the
power until the thermal balance is reached. Please reduce the input signal to allow
to reach the normal load conditions.
- Comp.: indicates activity of the compressor. If the signal passes over a safety thresh-
old, the compressor guarantees a good quality playback without acoustic distortion,
damping the appropriate signal frequencies. The system operates in total safety. If the
LED is constantly On, there is an excess of signal. In this case, please reduce the in-
coming signal level.
- Sign.: flashes when signal is incoming.
- ON: indicates that te speaker is powered on.
3. Preset LED-lighting switches:
- 3dbB Hi-damp: preset that damps high frequencies by 3dB. Designed to be used in a
large ambience, in order to balance the sound at a long distance where the decay of
mid to low frequencies is higher.
- 3dB Mid-damp: preset that damps mid frequencies by 3dB. Designed to boost low
and high frequencies, especially for these music genres like dance or house which re-
quire a “louder” sound.
- 3dB Lo-damp: preset that damps low frequencies by 3dB. Designed to balance the
natural reinforcement of low frequencies occurring when the speaker is placed in cor-
ners or side by side to other speakers of the same kind.
4. Input: XLR input for line signal.
5. Link: sends on output the same signal coming from INPUT connector. This allows the
cascade connection of different devices to the same sound source.

USAGESUGGESTIONS
The acoustic characteristics of the room/environment in which a sound system is used
have sometimes very significant effects on the overall sound produced.
Thanks to its special technical features (such as the optimal width of its dispersion
range), with VERSE speakers some of the most common problems can be reduced or pre-
vented.
However, some factors should be borne in mind as they may help to optimise its per-
formance.
— Do not place speakers in the corners of a room or in recesses (e.g. niches), since this
causes an increase in the low frequencies, producing sounds which are redundant or
blurred.
— Do not place speakers against a wall, as this also causes an increase in the low fre-
quencies, although less pronounced than that produced in a corner or niche.
N.B.: on the other hand, this phenomenon may sometimes be used to advantage to
reinforce the low range, but it must be employed carefully and in a controlled way.
— Do not place speakers straight on a stage, a floating floor or any other support with
cavities, as this tends to trigger resonances that alter and interfere with the overall
sound.
N.B.: solid supports should always be used.
— Remember that high frequencies have a high level of directivity and a much higher ab-
sorption coefficient than low frequencies. Therefore, to guarantee that the signal
reaches the listener in an intelligible form, position speakers so that they are in a di-
rect line with the audience (clearly visible) about ½ metre / 1 metre above the audi-
ence’s heads.
— In buildings with a lot of reverberation (places of worship, gymnasiums, etc.) first of all
keep the sound reflections down using materials which absorb sound (carpets, cur-
tains, special panels, etc.). If this is not possible or is not sufficient, do not simply turn
up the volume, because this will also increase the volume of the reflected sound, and
may make the situation even worse. The best solution is to use more speakers, placed
around the room and closer to the audience (e.g. front+back; front+sides;
front+sides+back).
6. POWER AC-OUT: easily connects another VERSE speaker to the mains. Do not exceed
current limits. The mains cable provided with your OUTSIDER318 can supply up to
16A, hence it is possible to cascade up to 3 loudspeakers (including the one connected
to the mains).
7. POWER: Switches the power on/off.
8. MAINS IN: connects to the mains.

CURA DEL PRODO O
• Non applicate eccessiva forza alle strutture ed ai comandi del prodotto (manopole, pulsanti,
connettori, ecc…).
• Non collocare, quando possibile, il prodotto in prossimità di unità che producano forti interfe-
renze come apparecchi radio – TV, monitor, ecc...
• Evitate di posizionare il prodotto in prossimità di fonti di calore, in luoghi umidi o polverosi o
nelle vicinanze di forti campi magnetici.
• Evitate di esporre il prodotto all’irradiazione solare diretta.

Le casse OUTSIDER318 sono state sviluppate per fornire una
soluzione affidabile e solida per professionisti, band e orche-
stre che abbiano bisogno di un sistema di amplificazione
senza bisogno di installazione ed un suono chiaro e potente.
Con OUTSIDER318 non c’è più bisogno di abbinare subwoofer
a casse da palco, montare faticosamente su treppiedi e colle-
gare miriadi di cavi per tutto il palco. In pochissimi passi po-
trete suonare dal vivo: trasportate OUTSIDER318 con
l’apposito carrello ad aggancio rapido, collegatelo al mixer e
siete pronti per suonare! OUTSIDER318 è un sistema completo
a 3 vie, che non necessita quindi l’aggiunta di subwoofer e in-
corpora i nostri migliori sub da 18”, un altoparlante midway da
12” e la brillante tromba+driver tipica di tutti i sistemi VERSE.
L’amplificatore digitale raggiunge una potenza di 4000W che è
controllata da un processore DSP di ultima generazione.

La nuova tecnologia digitale ha cambiato il modo in cui si progetta l’amplificazione audio
professionale. In nessun altro modo si può rispondere alla richiesta di grande potenza e
affidabilità di lungo termine.

tro il corto-circuito, protezione termica con controllo della velocità di rotazione della ven-
tola di raffreddamento che non fa mai salire la temperatura oltre i 60 gradi, protezione
verso componenti continue ed ancora protezione verso componenti ultrasoniche sia in in-
gresso che in uscita. L’ I.T.P. (Intelligent Thermal Protect) è garanzia di un perfetto e du-
raturo funzionamento del diffusore.

In accoppiamento ad amplificatori così performanti, VERSE ha scelto di montare altopar-
lanti progettati specificatamente per rendere al meglio con una così notevole riserva di
potenza.

di raggiungere un più alto fattore di forza e maggiore possibilità di escursione del cono, e
con bobine ventilate per ridurre la compressione di potenza. Con tali componenti è possi-
bile ottenere grandi escursioni, bassi dinamici e presenti, elevata pressione acustica e
pesi comunque contenuti.
I driver ceramici sono dotati di bobine avvolte in alluminio che determinano un sensibile
incremento di efficienza nella trasduzione delle frequenze alte, una maggior estensione
in frequenza, un miglior fattore d'accelerazione e una superiore affidabilità.
PROCESSORI DIGI ALI
I sistemi di processing del segnale di ogni speaker OUTSIDER sono basati su un proces-
sore DSP performante. Algoritmi sofisticati e innovativi di elaborazione sono stati imple-
mentati per assicurare una protezione totale di tutti i componenti del sistema senza
sacrificare la dinamica della sorgente sonora.
Limiter digitali intervengono quando stanno per essere superate le condizioni di sicu-
rezza dei trasduttori o la massima potenza degli amplificatori, impedendo l'invio alle
casse di segnali dal volume troppo elevato.
L'unità di elaborazione include anche 3 preset di equalizzazione.

CONNESSIONIIl segnale audio viene inviato dal mixer alle casse OUTSIDER tramite cavi
XLR.
Il sistema Powercon (mostrato nella figura a destra) è invece utilizzato per
alimentare con la corrente le casse in catena da una singola presa di cor-
rente. Assicurarsi sempre di rispettare i limiti massimi di corrente di appa-
recchiature, cavi, etc. Poiché la presa di corrente fornita in dotazione alle
OUTSIDER318 sopporta un massimo di 16A, è possibile collegare fino a un
massimo di 3 casse in cascata (inclusa la prima collegata alla rete elettrica).

TRASPORTOEINSTALLAZIONELe casse OUTSIDER318 possono essere trasportate facilmente tramite il carrello ad ag-
gancio rapido in dotazione. Una volta che la cassa è stata posizionata opportunamente
su un terreno solido e stabile ed in posizione verticale, si può connettere alla corrente e
al segnale audio proveniente dal mixer.

1. LEVEL: modifica il livello del segnale in ingresso.
2. LED di stato:
- Prot. LED: indica che l'amplificatore interno è entrato in protezione a causa di un gua-
sto dell'amplificatore stesso o degli altoparlanti collegati (rivolgersi all'assistenza tec-
nica)
- Temp. LED: indica che l'amplificatore interno è entrato in protezione a causa del rag-
giungimento di un calore eccessivo. In questa condizione entra in funzione un limiter
che riduce progressivamente la potenza fino a ristabilire l’equilibrio termico. Ridurre il
segnale in ingresso per consentire il ripristino delle normali condizioni di lavoro.
- Comp. LED: indica che il compressore è in funzione. Se il segnale supera la soglia di
sicurezza il compressore garantisce una riproduzione fedele, senza distorsione, atte-
nuando solamente le frequenze di segnale appropriate. Il sistema opera in completa
sicurezza. Se il LED è costantemente acceso c'è un eccesso di segnale, si consiglia di
ridurre il livello del segnale in ingresso.
- Sign. LED: indica che il segnale è presente.
- ON LED: indica che la cassa è accesa.
3. Pulsanti con LED per impostazioni:
- Attenuazione 3dB Alte freq.: preset che attenua le alte frequenze di 3dB. Pensato per
bilanciare il suono in grandi ambienti o luoghi aperti, dove il decadimento delle fre-
quenze medie e basse è naturalmente più elevato a lunga distanza.
- Attenuazione 3dB Medie freq.: preset che attenua le frequenze medie di 3dB. Pen-
sato per dare risalto ad alti e bassi, per quei generi musicali come la dance o la house
che richiedono suoni dalla “loudness” elevata.
- Attenuazione 3dB Basse freq.: preset che attenua le basse frequenze di 3dB. Pensato

SUGGERIMENTID’USO
Le caratteristiche acustiche dell’ambiente nel quale si effettua una diffusione incidono
sul risultato sonoro complessivo, talvolta in modo molto significativo.
li speaker VERSE, grazie alle loro peculiarità tecniche (ad esempio: l’ampio angolo di di-
spersione), consentono di contenere o prevenire alcuni degli inconvenienti tipici.
Qualche accorgimento d’installazione, tuttavia, può contribuire a ottimizzarne le presta-
zioni.
— Evitate di collocare i diffusori negli angoli di una stanza o in cavità (es. nicchie), poiché
ciò determina un incremento delle basse frequenze, causando suoni ridondanti e poco
distinti.
— Evitate di collocare i diffusori contro un muro, poiché ciò determina un incremento
delle basse frequenze, anche se in modo più contenuto rispetto alla collocazione in un
angolo o in una nicchia.
NOTA: per contro, questo fenomeno può talora essere vantaggiosamente sfruttato pro-
prio per rinforzare la gamma bassa, ma è opportuno che ciò sia praticato con consape-
volezza e in modo controllato.
— Evitate di far poggiare i diffusori direttamente su un palco, su un pavimento galleg-
giante o su un altro supporto con cavità, poiché ciò tende ad indurre risonanze che al-
terano e disturbano il risultato sonoro complessivo.
NOTA: usate di preferenza un appoggio solido (pieno).
— Ricordate che le frequenze alte sono caratterizzate da un elevato indice di direttività e
sono soggette ad un coefficiente di assorbimento molto più elevato rispetto alle fre-
quenze basse.
Per garantire intelligibilità e presenza del segnale, pertanto, posizionate i diffusori in
modo che siano collocati in linea di diffusione diretta (a vista) verso il pubblico
d’ascolto, a ½ metro / 1 metro al di sopra di esso.
— In ambienti altamente riverberanti (luoghi di culto, palestre, etc.) provvedete innanzi-
tutto a contenere le riflessioni usando materiali fono-assorbenti (tappeti, tendaggi,
pannelli specifici, etc.). Se ciò non fosse praticabile o non fosse sufficiente, evitate di
ricorrere al semplice incremento di volume, poiché ciò incrementerebbe anche il vo-
lume delle riflessioni, possibilmente peggiorando la situazione. Ricorrete di preferenza
all’uso di un maggior numero di diffusori distribuiti, più vicini al pubblico d’ascolto (es.
fronte+retro; fronte+lati, fronte+lati+retro).
6.POWER AC-OUT: per alimentare altre casse VERSE. Non superate i limiti di corrente.
Poiché la presa di corrente fornita in dotazione alle OUTSIDER318 sopporta un mas-
simo di 16A, è possibile collegare fino a un massimo di 3 casse in cascata (inclusa la
prima collegata alla rete elettrica).
