Vertex™ Rx-Z Series Zeolite Reactor
Thank you for your purchase of the Vertex™ Rx-Z Series Zeolite Reactor. Please be sure to read and
follow this brief guide to ensure proper install and operation of your reactor.

Install and Operate:
1- Remove your reactor and its components from the box and inspect for any possible defects. If
there are any concerns, please contact your dealer within 48 hours of receiving your reactor;
refrain from installing the unit and keep all original packaging as well as proof of purchase.
Any damages to the unit during transport are not covered under warranty and must be claimed
with the forwarder at the time of receiving the product.
2- After proper inspection, clean the unit with a damp cloth using RO water to ensure removal of
any oils and/or chemicals used during the manufacturing process.
3- Remove the inner chamber from the reactor.
4- Insert rubber footing supplied into the dedicated slots under the pump.
5- Attach the pump to the U-Line assembly. This connection is pressure-fit for easier future
maintenance; insert the pump output into the check valve. There is no need to glue the pump
however if desire this can be accomplished using most multi-purpose liquid plastic adhesive such
as cyanoacrylate. Only apply the glue in an up right standing position. Possible run off will
damage the check valve. Do not over apply and avoid skin contact.
6- Attach the U-Line assembly and pump to the body using the dedicated union connections.
7- Turn the U-Line assembly in the correct direction and place the pump over its dedicated area on
the reactor base.

8- Tighten all unions to ensure proper operation.
9- Attach the supplied elbow to the output and insert the output line inside.
10-Open the valve and carefully place the reactor inside its dedicated compartment in your filter
sump.
11-Turn the unit on briefly to make sure the unit is operational and properly assembled.
12-Rinse your Zeolite media with RO water to remove debris and dust and place inside the inner
chamber.
13-Place the upper perforated plate on the top of the inner chamber and fasten in place using the
onboard Titanium Screw. Tighten the screw using a flat, head soft tipped screw driver; it is
imperative that the holes are aligned properly to avoid destroying the screw threading. Damaged
threading caused by negligence or improper installation will not be covered under warranty.
Refrain from over tightening.
14-Run the middle rod of the inner chamber through the lid.
15-Place the T-Handle on the top of the pull-rod and align the screw hole.
16-Tighten the screw using a flat, head soft tipped screw driver; it is imperative that the holes are
aligned properly to avoid destroying the screw threading. Damaged threading caused by
negligence or improper installation will not be covered under warranty. Refrain from over
tightening.
17-Ensure the unit is off and the pump is not running. Place the inner chamber inside the body of
the reactor and gently lower it down and press the lid down. The lid can be tightened or loosened
by a tilting motion in an up/downwards direction.
18-If necessary, a small amount of food grade silicone lubrication can be applied on the O-Rings to
ensure a better seal as well as smoother movement when agitating the media.
19-Direct the reactor output in the desired direction.
20-Turn the unit on and adjust the flow rate using the onboard valve according to the media’s
requirement and/or the manufacturer’s guidelines.

damaged the misuse and/or improper installation of the unit may cause.
Important Points:
Do not use lover grade Zeolite media as it can have adverse effects on your system. Vertex
Aquaristik™ recommends the use of original Korallen-Zucht™ media for best results.

Do not exceed the recommended amount of media for your system’s net water volume. It is
recommended to start at half dose and increase gradually to the desired amount over a period
of time. Rapid changes in water chemistry can negatively affect your systems inhabitants.
Always follow manufacturer guidelines for any dosing of probiotic media or additives. Vertex
Aquaristik™ cannot be held accountable for any damages excess flow through the reactor,
excess use of zeolite media and/or additives dosed can cause. If you are unsure of the proper
amount of flow and/or media required, contact the manufacturer directly.
Vertex™ Rx-Z reactors aresupplied with an on-board dosing port. Check with your manufacturer
if it is recommended to dose the said additive directly inside the reactor and at what
recommended dosage amount for your system.
Zeolite media will be exhausted in time and needs to be exchanged. For proper media renewal
regimens, please consult with the media manufacturer.
To exchange the media:
A- Turn the pump off and disconnect from power. Do not attempt to service or perform
maintenance on the unit when connected to power.
B- Tilt the lid back and forth in an upward motion and open the unit.
C- Remove the inner chamber. It is not necessary to disassemble the handle.
D- Loosen the screw attached to the top perforated plate using a flat head, soft tipped screw driver
and move the plate up to allow easy removal of the exhausted media.
E- Replace the media based on the manufacturer’s recommendation.
F- Move down the perforated plate in place.
G- Tighten the screw attached to the top perforated plate using a flat head, soft tipped screw
driver. Refrain from over tightening.
H- Insert the inner chamber back inside the unit.
I- Tighten the lid and make sure all connections and unions are properly assembled.
J- Turn the unit back on and ensure proper flow for the amount of media being utilized.
Maintenance:
After extended operation time or when deemed necessary, lubrication can be applied on the O-rings.
Only use food grade silicone grease.
Unit can be fully disassembled for cleaning and/or maintenance. Refer to the assembly instruction of
this guide before putting the unit back in operation.
For any maintenance required on the pump, please refer to the Eheim™ instruction manual supplied.

Warranty, Service and Conditions:
Vertex™ products carry a two-year limited manufacturer warranty. Parts or components damaged due
to misuse, improper installation, or normal wear and tear will not be covered under warranty. Vertex
Aquaristik™ reserves the right to warranty products based upon inspection. If any damages were
deemed to be caused due to any of the following reasons, they will not be covered under warranty:
Improper routine maintenance or use.
Use of impure or improper media.
Improper assembly.
Custom modifications.
Improper use or assembly of ancillary products or systems.
Procedures other than noted in this guide.
Damage caused by negligence.
Using parts and components other than supplied by Vertex or utilized in the original design.
All warranty related issues should be handled at the point of purchase location by trained staff.
Please contact your dealer for warranty or any other service or maintenance the unit might require.
Pay attention to all the warnings and pointers noted in this guide and use common sense. To
avoid damage to property, livestock, or personal injury please follow all these instructions or
consult with a professional. Vertex Aquaristik™ will not be held liable for any damages the
misuse, modifications, or improper installation of this unit may cause.
If you cannot agree to the above terms and conditions, do not install or use this device, keep
your original packaging as well as proof of purchase and contact your dealer for a refund.
Vertex Aquaristik™ will not issue refunds directly to the consumer and rather issues a credit to
the retailer or the wholesaler who has purchased the said product from Vertex Aquaristik™ for
the amount the device was purchased for. There will be no refund issued for used, installed or
inferior than new condition products.
