Leak Testing Your Machine
1. Turn on your oxygen supply & check you have pressure in the gauge.
2. Check that the flowmeter is off & the bobbin is reading on zero.
3. Occlude the patient end of the circuit with your finger.
4. Turn on the flowmeter to around 0.3-0.4.
5. The Bobbin in the flowmeter should ever so slightly be dropping.
6. If the Bobbin is floating at a constant level, you may have a leak.
7. Once completed, turn off the flowmeter.
Some common leak sites are:
Holes in hoses
Flow meter not turned off –Do Not Over Tighten
Hose connections
Leaks can easily be located by using soapy water which will produce bubbles at the leak site.
