1. VIA Mobile360 D700 Introducon

This Quick Start Guide provides instrucons on how to boot from the Linux EVK system image on the VIA Mobile360 D700 AI Dash Cam system and congure the supported

hardware funcons in the build. It also provides explicit instrucons on how to setup and use the VIA Mobile360 D700 device with the VIA Fleet Cloud Management portal

for the included 30 day free trial period.

1.1.2 Firmware Folder Content

VIA_Mobile360_D700_EVK_rmware.zip: This VIA_Mobile360_D700_EVK_rmware.zip le includes the EVK rmware VFW.bin le and the upgrade conguraon ota_

cong.ini le. These les are required to be installed on the VIA Mobile360 D700 device to evaluate the device.

2. Upgrade Firmware Using SD Card

To upgrade the rmware using a MicroSD card, please follow the steps listed below:

1. Format the MicroSD Card using the exFAT le system, then extract and copy the VFW.bin and ota_cong.ini les from the VIA_Mobile360_D700_EVK_rmware.zip le

to the MicroSD Card. Insert the MicroSD Card into the MicroSD slot of the VIA Mobile360 D700 AI Dash Cam.

2. Once powered on, the VIA Mobile360 D700 AI Dash Cam will automacally start upgrading the system.

Note:

During the upgrade process, the Red LED will ash twice per second, the Yellow LED will be o, and the Green LED will remain on.

3. When the upgrade process is completed, the system will automacally restart. While the system is boong the red, yellow, and green LEDs will ash once per second.

4. Once the system boot has completed, the status LEDs will change according to the recording status of the VIA Mobile360 D700 AI Dash Cam. This also indicates that

the rmware upgrade process has completed.

2.1 System Status LEDs

The VIA Mobile360 D700 device comes with three LED indicators located on the rear panel to show system status for various situaons. The LED indicator states are shown

in the image below.

• Device Boot Up - All three LEDs ashing at 1Hz

• Recording - Solid green LED

• SD Error - Red and yellow LEDs ashing at 1Hz

• Hotspot Startup - Yellow LED ashing at 1Hz and solid green LED

• Recording Error - Solid red and yellow LEDs

• Mic Error - Red LED ashing at 1Hz and solid green LED

• Mobile Network Startup - Red LED ashing at 10Hz and solid green

• Firmware Upgrading - Red LED ashing at 2Hz and solid green LED

• Sensor/GPS Error - Red and yellow LEDs ashing at 1Hz and solid

3. VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal

VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal is VIA’s web-based applicaon built on AWS IoT Core and AWS KVS, which allows customers to quickly evaluate VIA Mobile360 D700 AI

Dash Cams. Each sample device comes with a 30-day trial period of the VIA Fleet Cloud Management for customers to evaluate the VIA Mobile360 D700 device including

real-me tracking, collision alerts with video upload, trip history and eet stascs. Also included is 50 hours of live streaming with Amazon KVS.

Please refer to the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal Quick Start Guide for complete instrucons to log in and set up the free trial period for a VIA Mobile360 D700

AI Dash Cam. The secons below will explain the specic steps related to binding a VIA Mobile360 D700 device as well as how to calibrate and enable the available AI

funcons.

3.1 VIA Fleet Vehicle Registraon

Aer creang a eet and a vehicle model as described in secon 1.3.1 of the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal Quick Start Guide, the next step is to add a vehicle in

which the VIA Mobile360 D700 device will be installed.

1. From the le-hand menu, select “Management -> Vehicles”.

2. From the top menu bar, select “Add Vehicle” to register a new vehicle to the new eet group created.

3. Select "VIA Mobile360 D700" as the VIA Mobile360 Series Plaorm to be installed and click "OK".

4. Fill in the informaon for the new vehicle including:

• Vehicle Name - Used to idenfy the vehicle throughout the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal.

• Plate Number - The license plate number of the vehicle the VIA Mobile360 D700 device is installed in.

• Fleet - Select the “Fleet” created in step 3 of secon 1.3.1 in the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal Quick Start Guide.

• Vehicle Model - Select the vehicle model (mandatory) created in steps 5 - 8 of secon 1.3.1 in the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal Quick Start Guide.

Note:

When a vehicle model is selected, the elds for "Fuel Tank Capacity", "Fuel Type", "Vehicle Weight", "Displacement", "Driver’s Seat", "Vehicle Width" and "Hood Length" will automacally be

lled in.

−Vehicle License - Image of the vehicle registraon document (not mandatory).

−Permied Drivers - Drivers must be created before adding permied drivers for the vehicle.

• AI Features

−Alert Language: Select the language the audio alerts should be played in (English, Japanese, Tradional Chinese and Simplied Chinese are supported).

Note:

Values in “Driver's Seat”, "Vehicle Width" and "Hood Length" elds are required for LDW, FCW and DSS AI features to work correctly.

5. Click “Save” to register the vehicle.

6. Aer clicking “Save”, the program will return to the “Management -> Vehicles” page. Click the Fleet name and it will expand to show the vehicle has been added to the

eet.

3.2 VIA Mobile360 D700 Device Registraon

Before registering a VIA Mobile360 D700 device to the vehicle created in the secon above, install the device in the vehicle. It is recommended to use the OBD II and ACC

connector to get all vehicle and trip informaon. A 4G SIM card is also required to be installed. Refer the VIA Mobile360 D700 User Manual for complete instrucons.

Aer installaon is complete, follow the steps below to register the VIA Mobile360 D700 device to the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal.

1. Scan the appropriate QR code below to download the VIA Mobile360 app from either the Google Play Store for Android devices or the App Store for iOS devices.

2. Aer installaon is complete, launch the app.

3. Select “Me” from the boom row of icons in the app.

4. Select “VIA Fleet Login”.

5. Input the same Username and Password provided for the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal to login and tap on “OK”.

6. Select "Vehicle Binding" to display the list of all vehicles created in your VIA Fleet Cloud Management account.

7. Start the vehicle to power on the VIA Mobile360 D700 device. Aer the device nishes boong, there will be a short beep followed by the nocaon “Scan

registraon QR code”. Aer the audio nocaon, there is a 60-second window to scan the QR code from the app.

8. In the app, tap on the vehicle in the list to generate a QR code that is used to bind the D700 device.

9. Place the QR code in front of the DSS camera lens of the VIA Mobile360 D700 device.

10. Once the D700 device has scanned the QR code, the device will play the audio conrmaon, “Registraon successful”.

11. Tap on “OK” on the pop-up nocaon to return to the vehicle list where it will show “Registered” beside the vehicle name.

Note:

If the QR code is not successfully scanned within the 60-second window, the VIA Mobile360 D700 device will play the audio nocaon “Registraon Failed”. If this occurs, reboot the system

and start over.

12. Log back into the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal and go to “Management -> Vehicles”. Click the Fleet in the list and select the vehicle which was registered. There

will be three new secons of vehicle informaon added to the vehicle informaon page.

Device Informaon - Displays informaon about the device bound to the vehicle:

• Device Model - The model of the device bound to the vehicle, Mobile360 D700.

• Registered - A green check mark indicates that the vehicle has a device bound with it. To unregister the device, click on the “Unregister” buon displayed.

• SIM Card - Displays the SIM card number installed in the VIA Mobile360 D700 device.

AI Features - Displays the available AI features and calibraon status:

• Front ADAS Camera Installaon Height - Height of the front ADAS camera measured from the ground to the front camera lens.

• LDW - Lane Departure Warning.

• FCW - Forward Collision Warning

• DSS - Driver Safety System Warning

• ADAS Calibraon - Shows the status of ADAS calibraon process compleon.

• DSS Calibraon - Shows the status of DSS calibraon process compleon.

• Alert Language - Shows the language audio alerts will be played back in.

Notes:

The "Front ADAS Camera Installaon Height" value can be added later in the VIA Mobile360 app for ADAS calibraon.

To use the ADAS and DSS AI features, the corresponding calibraon processes must be completed and the features must be acvated in the cloud or with the VIA Mobile360 app.

Trial Period Informaon - Displays informaon regarding the device's trial feature period:

• Trial Time Remaining - Shows the number of days remaining to test the device with the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal.

• KVS Time Remaining - Shows the number of KVS live streaming hours remaining.

3.3 ADAS and DSS AI Features

The VIA Mobile360 D700 device supports congurable AI features including LDW (Lane Departure Warning), FCW (Forward Collision Warning) and DSS (Driver Safety

System) warnings to assist drivers with real-me safety nocaons and for eet owners to gain deeper insights into driver behaviors and overall eet safety measures.

The table below provides an overview of the available ADAS and DSS AI features, their alarm trigger criteria, their alarm sounds, their audio alerts and whether their stats

are incorporated into the driver score metric and trip data.

Before an AI feature can be used on a VIA Mobile360 D700 device in the VIA Fleet Cloud Management Portal, the corresponding calibraon process must be completed

through the VIA Mobile360 App.

• ADAS Calibraon - Calibrates the device to ensure accurate LDW and FCW event detecons

• DSS Calibraon - Ensures proper camera posion for accurate DSS event detecons

Note:

If the vehicle speed cannot be obtained from the vehicle directly, the speed will be calculated using the GPS sensor which is less accurate.

3.3.1 Installaon with AI Features

To increase the accuracy of the FCW and LDW detecon results, the installaon guidelines below should be followed.

• The VIA Mobile360 D700 device should be installed in the center of the windshield with a tolerance of +/- 10cm to either side of the front camera lens.

• The installaon height should be between 1.0m ~ 2.2m o the ground.

• The front ADAS camera's lens must not be obstructed by the windshield wipers of the vehicle.

• It is recommended to connect the VIA Mobile360 D700 device to the OBD II port in the vehicle to be able to get the real vehicle speed. This is a crical input to

determine the TTC (Time to Collision) for the FCW warning.

• For DSS, the interior camera should be no further than 90cm in front of the driver and no further than 40cm to the side of the driver's face. (Measured from the

center of the face.) See the table below for a quick reference for opmal results based on dierent installaon locaons:

Note:

If the above criteria cannot be met, make sure the driver's head is within the bounding box during the calibraon process to ensure reliable detecon. See secon 3.3.3 below.

To calibrate the device for the ADAS and DSS features, the VIA Mobile360 app must be connected to the target VIA Mobile360 D700 device.

Open the VIA Mobile360 app on your mobile device and follow the prompts to connect to the VIA Mobile360 D700 device over Wi-Fi. The VIA Mobile360 D700 device's Wi-

Fi SSID is named “VIA Mobile360_XXX” and can be found in the phone’s available Wi-Fi connecons once the VIA Mobile360 D700 device has booted. The default password

is “12345678”.

Aer the connecon has been established, you will see the live camera stream and a map in the “Live” tab of the app along with the following icons, “ ” for ADAS

calibraon and “ ” for DSS calibraon. A red icon indicates that the calibraon has not yet been completed, where a green icon indicates the calibraon has been

completed.

3.3.2 ADAS Calibraon

ADAS Calibraon is a simple process required to calibrate the VIA Mobile360 D700 device for both FCW and LDW AI features.

1. Begin the calibraon process by tapping on the red ADAS calibraon icon on the le-hand side of the “Live”tab in the VIA Mobile360 app.

2. This will bring up a screen displaying the following elds: “Front ADAS Camera Installaon Height”, "Vehicle Width" and "Hood Length" elds. The "Vehicle Width" and

"Hood Length" elds will be pre-populated with values lled in during the vehicle creaon step in secon 3.1. Enter correct values and tap on the “OK” buon.
