3. Screwsettothecenteroftheskimmer
4. Placetheskimmeronthebackoftheaquarium
5. Tightenthesetscrewtosecuretheskimmerontothebackofthe
aquarium
6. Assemblethesurfaceskimmerandintakestrainer
7. Thesurfaceskimmerneedstobeadjustedsothatthewaterlevelisat
themiddleoftheslots
8. Removefiltercartridge
9. Placewaterintheskimmer
10.Verifythattheflowcontrolisallthewayopen
11. Placetheprimingsilencerontothetopofthevariableventuriintaketube.
A. Theprimingsilencerneedstobethreadedontothetopofthe
variableventuriintaketube.Now,rotatethecapsothattheholeon
thetopofthesilenceristurnedawayfromthegreendot.
B. Attacha3-4ft.pieceofairlinetubingtothevariableventuritube
andapplysuctionuntiltheairisremovedfromtheintaketube.
12.PlugpumpintoaG.F.C.I.electricaloutlet
13.Now,squeezetheprimingsilenceruntilalltheairisremovedfromthe
intaketube
14.Themotorwillengageandstarttopumpwater
15.Oncewaterisdischargingbackintotheaquariumopentheairtothe
variableventuritubebytwistingthetopoftheprimingsilencerand
aligningitwiththegreendot
16.Removefiltercartridgeandplaceinskimmer
17.Verifythattherearenotanyleaks
18.Lettheskimmeroperatewithoutanyadjustmentfor20minutes,as
skimmerneedtimetostarttowork

NOTE:The skimmer will not prime if:
* Thereisnotwaterinthemainbodyoftheskimmer
* Thereisnotwaterintheaquarium
* Waterlevelisnotatheproperlevel
* Theskimmerisnotpluggedin
* Variableventurilocknutisnothandtightened

ADJUSTMENT OF THE VARIABLE VENTURI
INCREASE OR DECREASE AIR VOLUME
Problem 1: If there are not organics/proteins collecting in the cup, then:
1. Increasetheairvolumebyraisingthevariableventuribya½”.Dothis
bylooseningthevariableventurilocknutandthenslidethetubeup½”.
Then,handtightenthevariableventurilocknut.Notethismaycause
theunittolooseprimeifsoreferbacktostep9.
2. Doublechecksalinitylevel10.0024.
3. Checktoseeiftheprimingcapandsilencerhasbeenopenedtoallow
airin.
Problem 2: If there is too much water collecting in the collection cup and/or
air bubbles are returning to the aquarium.
1. Lowerthevariableventurisothatthebottomofthevariableventuri½”
abovetheimpellerwell.
2. Decreasewaterowbyadjustingtheowcontrol.Alladjustmentneeds
tobesmall.1/8ofaturn.Ifproblempersistafterafewminutesadjust
again.
3. Salinityishigherthan10.0024.Salinityneedtobeloweredto10.0018if
problemspersist.
4. Theuseofwaterconditionersuchasstresscoatoraquasafe.Theonly
solutionistocontinuetodumpthecollectioncupuntiltheproductis
removedfromthewater.

1. Removethereactionchamberfromthemainbodyoftheskimmer.
2. Slidetheoutthetopofthereactionchamber.
3. Removethepackingmaterialfromthequartzsleeveandbulb.Placethe
quartzsleeveandbulbintotheblackreactionchamber.
4. Replacethetopofthereactionchambertosecurethequartzsleeve
andbulb.
5. Replacethecompletereactionchamberinthemainbodyofthe
skimmer.
6. Nowinstalltheskimmerreferringtotheinstallationinstructions.
7. Securetheballastwhereitwillstaydry.
8. OnceinstalledplugtheballastdirectlytoaG.F.C.I.electricaloutletusing
adriploop.
REPLACEMENT OF BULB
ThePLUVbulbneedstobereplacedevery8,000-9,000hrs.toensureoptimum
performance.

1. UnplugallaquariumdevicespriortoworkingontheMulti-Skimmer.
2. Removetheblackreactionchamberfromthemainbodyoftheskimmer.
3. Slidetheoutthetopofthereactionchamber.
4. Removethequartzsleeve.
5. Unscrewthetopofthequartzsleeve.
6. Cleanquartzsleeve.
7. ReplacethePLUVbulb.Trynottohaveyourhandscomeindirect
contactwiththebulb.Useacleanclothtohandlethebulbandinstall
thebulb.
8. Toinsureagoodsealaddasmallamountofsiliconelubricanttothe
o-ring.
9. Handtightenandreinstall.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Problem: The Multi-Skimmer will not prime. Water will not enter the intake
tube and down to motor.
1. Theaquariumandtheskimmermustbefullofwater.
2. Checktoseeifthevariableventurilocknutistightsothatthevariable
venturitubewillnotslideupanddown.
3. Thebottomofthevariableventuritubeshouldbeabout½”-¾”above
theimpellerassembly.Ifadjustmentneedstobemademakesurethe
venturilocknutishandtight.
4. MakesuretheunitispluggedintoaG.F.C.I.outlet.
5. Ifrestartingafteroperationtheimpellerandimpellerwellmayneedtobe
cleanedtoinsureoptimumperformancefromthepump.
6. Thewaterlevelinthesurfaceskimmeristoolow.
Problem: Nothing will collect in the collection cup
1. Thereisnotabiologicalloadintheaquarium.
2. Theairvolumeneedstoberaisedtoincreasetheairvolume.
3. Thevariableventurineedstobecleaned.Cleantheventuriand
reassemblethemulti-skimmeraccordingtotheinstructions.
4. Itmaytakeseveralhoursforaskimmertostarttowork.Setupandwait
withoutanyadjustmentsandwaitseveralhoursthencheck.
5. Thefoamisunabletoclimbintothecollectioncupduetooilsfromyour
hands,tankadditivesand/orfoodsfeed.
6. Verifythecollectioncupisallthewaydown.
7. InunitswithouttheUVlightaddwaterlevelcontrolandincreasewater
levelinmainchamber.
Problem: Only water is collecting in the collection cup
1. Thesalinityistoohigh.Adjustsalinitylevelto1.018-1.023
2. Theuseofadditivessuchaswaterconditionersandoruseofsynthetic
seasaltarecausingthebubblestobondlongerthusthewaterinthe
cup.Ascollectioncupllsdumpwaterandrepeatuntilskimmeris
workingproperly.

3. Theaquariumwasjustcleanedand/orwaterchangewasdone.As
collectioncupllsdumpwaterandrepeatuntilskimmerisworking
properly.
4. Iftheairvolumeistohigh,thendecreaseitbyloweringthevariable
venturi.
5. Raisethecollectioncup.
Problem: Small air bubbles are discharging back into the aquarium.
1. Thelterpadiscloggedortosoiledandwater/airbubblesareescaping
overtheltercartridge.Replacelterpad.
2. Thesalinityistoohigh.Adjustsalinitylevelto1.018-1.023
3. Mostmedicationwillincreasethelengththeairbubbleswillstayinthe
water.Connectapieceofairlinetubingtotheintakeofthevariable
venturiandsubmersetheoppositeendintheaquariumsotheunitis
justapowerlter.Skimmeringeneralshouldnotbeoperatedwiththe
useofmedicationasitwillremovethemedication.
4. Theuseofwaterconditioners(de-chlorinator,stresscoats,algaecides,
andredslimeremovers)willincreasethesurfacetension.
A. Ascollectioncupllsdumpwaterandrepeatuntilskimmeris
workingproperly.
B. Connectapieceofairlinetubingtotheintakeofthevariableventuri
andsubmersetheoppositeendintheaquariumsotheunitisjusta
powerlterfor24hoursandresumeoperation.
Problem: UV light is not working.
1. TheballastisnotpluggedintoaG.F.C.I.electricaloutlet.
2. Iffromshippingprocess,thebulbhaspoppedoutofthesocket.
Removethequartzsleeveandreplacebulb.Handtightenquartzsleeve.

orreplacementoftheMulti-SkimmerTMonlyifyoureturnthedefectiveMulti-SkimmerTM
directlytoCommodityAxisInc.withtheoriginalreceiptinthisoriginalboxalongwith
fifteen dolars ($15.00) for shipping and handling. Do not send the Multi-SkimmerTM
byinsured mail.The Multi-SkimmerTM maybesentby UPS requiringsignatureupon
arrival.AnyreplacementMulti-SkimmerTMwillbewarrantedforremainingoftheoriginal
warrantyperiod.Innoteventshallanyshippingchargesbereimbursed.Innoeventwill
