Intended use
The collectors provide central heating backup and
solar backup for DHW heating. They are only intended
to be installed and operated in sealed systems that
comply with EN 12976 and EN 12977, with due atten-
tion paid to the associated installation, service and
operating instructions. Only operate the collectors with
heat transfer medium approved by the manufacturer.
Intended use presupposes that a fixed installation in
conjunction with permissible, system-specific compo-
nents has been carried out.
Commercial or industrial usage for a purpose other
than heating a building or DHW shall be deemed inap-
propriate.
Any usage beyond this must be approved by the man-
ufacturer in each individual case.
Incorrect usage of the collectors or the installation sys-
tem or incorrect operation is prohibited (e.g. the collec-
tors being opened by the system user, failure to
observe the installation instructions). Failure to
observe these instructions can change functions,
endanger life and limb of the user or third parties and
will result in an exclusion of liability.
Incorrect usage also applies if components in the sys-
tem are modified from their intended use (e.g. through
direct DHW heating in the collector).
Adhere to statutory regulations, especially concerning
the hygiene of potable water.

Vitosol 100-F, 200-F and 300-F, types SV and SH, are
high performance flat-plate collectors.
The fixing system, with statically-tested and corrosion-
resistant components made from stainless steel and
aluminium, is easy to assemble.
The following component assemblies are available for
collector types SV and SH, for a 30°, 45° or 60° angle
of collector inclination.

Fitting the collector supports
■Observe the maximum load and distance from the
edge of the roof for the on-site substructure to
DIN 1055.
■Install the on-site substructure, e.g. steel beams, at
right angles to and horizontally level with the collec-
tor orientation.
■Provide screws on site for securing the collector sup-
ports to the substructure.

To stabilise the collector array, screw cross braces
diagonally to the collector supports at the back (see
diagram below).
To install the cross braces, holes in the collector sup-
ports and the cross braces must be drilled on site.

Installation information
■The first and last collector must be positioned with
the type plate facing outwards (observe label).
■On just one of the collectors, fit the pipework at the
side opposite the type plate side.
!Please note
The connection pipes must be free of any signs
of damage.
Lubricate O-ring seals only with the special
valve grease provided.
Use the template as an aid for installing the second
collector and all others between the supports. Once
the second collector has been secured, remove the
template and install it between the next pair of sup-
ports.

!Please note
The collectors may be damaged if the solar ther-
mal system is not filled with heat transfer
medium immediately after installation.
Therefore, protect the collectors from insolation
by covering them up.
Installation
!Please note
Incorrect installation can lead to collector dam-
age.
Use only gunmetal or brass fittings and copper
pipes for the installation.
Never step on collectors.
Never solder on or near the collectors.

15
■Route pipes so that complete ventilation is ensured.
Install an air separator in the solar flow upstream of
the DHW cylinder.
Note
An air separator is integrated into the flow line of the
Solar-Divicon (see diagram).
■Generally, copper lines in solar circuits are brazed or
joined by press fittings.
Soft solder could be weakened, particularly near the
collectors, due to the maximum temperatures occur-
ring there. Metal seal connections, locking ring fit-
tings or Viessmann plug-in connections with double
O-rings are the most suitable.
If other seals such as flat gaskets are used, ade-
quate glycol, pressure and temperature stability must
be guaranteed by the manufacturer.
■Make all connections pressure and temperature
resistant (observe the maximum stagnation tempera-
ture of the collector).
Never use:
–Teflon (inadequate glycol resistance)
–Hemp connections (insufficiently gas-tight)
■Equip the system to EN 12975 with an expansion
vessel, safety valve and circulation pump.
■The expansion vessel must be approved to DIN
4807.
The diaphragms and seals of the expansion vessel
and safety valve must be suitable for the heat trans-
fer medium.
To calculate the pre-charge pressure, see the
"Vitosol" service instructions.
■For operation without a Solar-Divicon, use only
safety valves that meet the following conditions:
–Designed for 120 °C and up to 6 bar (0.6 MPa)
–Letter ID "S" (solar) in the component identification
