3. Werksseitig definierte Befehle
Werksseitig sind folgende Befehle diesen Magnetabfolgen zu-
geordnet (siehe auch Abb. 1.1 und Abb. 1.2):
N: Sofortiger Halt
S: Gleichmäßiges Abbremsen
S N: Hebt bestehende Magnetbefehle auf: Blinker werden
ausgeschaltet, alte Geschwindigkeit wird wieder aufge-
nommen, Wechsel zur ursprünglichen Fahrspur
S S: Informiert Fahrzeuge über einen Spurwechsel zur
Abstandssteuerung
S N N: Blinkt für 30 cm nach rechts und ändert die Geschwin-
digkeit auf 40 km/h
S N S: Blinkt für 30 cm nach links und ändert die Gewschwin-
digkeit auf 40 km/h
S S N: Geschwindigkeit auf 30 km/h ändern
S S S: Fernlicht einschalten
Mittels des Programmiergeräts, Art. 8401 und der CarManager
Software lassen sich die Befehle individuell für jedes Fahrzeug
einstellen.
Tipp: Der magnetische Pol kann bestimmt werden, indem man
den betreffenden Magneten, bei eingeschaltetem Fahrzeug, in die
Nähe des Magnetsensors („Hallsensor“) bringt. Dieser befindet
sich rechts am Fahrzeug im Tank, wo sich auch der Lade- und
Programmieranschluss befinden. Bleibt das Fahrzeug sofort ste-
hen, ist es ein Nordpol. Bremst das Fahrzeug ab, ist es ein Südpol.
4. Einbau
- Legen Sie zunächst den auszulösenden Befehl Ihrer Mag-
netabfolge fest. Beachten Sie dazu Abschnitt 3.
- Legen Sie die Position des ersten Magneten fest.
Tipp: Um die korrekte Position herauszufinden, ist es hilf-
reich, den Magneten liegend auf ein Stück Papier zu kleben.
Platzieren Sie dieses zunächst knapp neben der Fahrspur,
so wird der Magnet durch den Hallsensor des Fahrzeugs
erkannt, und das Fahrzeug führt den Befehl aus.
Justieren Sie die Position entlang der Fahrbahn, bis das
Verhalten des Fahrzeugs Ihren Vorstellungen entspricht.
Insbesondere bei Kombinationen von Befehlen, wie z. B.
Abbremsen und anschließendes Anhalten, ist es praktisch,
die Position variieren zu können, bevor das Loch für den
Magneten gebohrt wird.
- Haben Sie die korrekte Position ermittelt, so bohren Sie an
der entsprechenden Stelle ein kleines Loch (Ø 4 mm, Tiefe
ca. 5 mm). Dies muss ca. 1,1 – 1,2 cm (Mitte Magnetband/
Fahrdraht und Mitte Magnet), in Fahrtrichtung rechts, knapp
unter der Fahrbahn, positioniert werden (Abb. 2).
- Jeder weitere Magnet wird ebenso platziert, jedoch mit einem
Abstand von 3 cm (empfohlen). Bei zwei ungleich poligen
Magneten kann der Abstand aus Platzgründen auf 2 cm
reduziert werden (Abb. 2).

1.1 Safety instructions

When handling magnets, wearers of pacemakers should
exercise the usual caution.
Magnets are no toys. There is the danger of swallowing the
magnets. They must therefore be kept out of the reach of
children as long as they are out of their packaging and not
mounted! Moreover, magnets may easily break or splinter
under mechanical pressure!
Do not place the permanent magnets directly onto magnet strips.
This may lead to the demagnetization of the magnet strips.
1.2 Using the product for its correct purpose
This product is intended:
- For installation in model train layouts, observing the instruc-
tions for this product.
- For operation with Viessmann CarMotion vehicles.
- For operation in dry rooms only.
Using the product for any other purpose is not approved and is
considered inappropriate. The manufacturer is not responsible
for any damage resulting from the improper use of this product

2. Introduction
These permanent magnets are used for chaining and autono-
mously executing commands for CarMotion vehicles. With such
commands, triggered by simple magnets under the layout, it is
already possible to achieve a varied CarMotion driving experi-
ence – completely without any further control electronics.
3. Factory defined commands
The factory has assigned the following commands to these
magnet sequences (also see fig. 1.1 and fig. 1.2):
N: Immediate stop
S: Uniform braking
S N: Cancels existing commands: indicators are switched off,
returns to previous speed, changes back to original lane
S S: Informs other vehicle of a lane change because of dis-
tance control
S N N: Flashes right for 30 cm and changes speed to 40 km/h
S N S: Flashes left for 30 cm and changes speed to 40 km/h
S S N: Change speed to 30 km/h
S S S: Switch on high beam
With the help of the programming device, item 8401 and the
CarManager software, it is possible to programme the com-
mands individually for each vehicle.
Hint: It is possible to determine the magnetic pole by holding
it close to a magnetic sensor (“hall sensor”) of a running car. It
can be found at the right hand side of the vehicle in the tank
together with the charging and the programming ports. If the ve-
hicle stops immediately, it is a north pole. If the vehicle reduces
speed, it is a south pole.
4. Mounting
- First determine the command to be triggered by your magnet
sequence. In this context observe chapter 3.
- Determine the position of the first magnet.
Hint: in order to find out the correct position, it can be helpful
to glue the magnet lying on a piece of paper. Position it at
first close to the edge of the road. Thus, the magnet will be
recognized by the hall sensor of the vehicle and the vehicle
will carry out the command. Adjust the position alongside the
road until the behaviour of the vehicle suits your ideas. Es-
pecially in the case of combined commands such as braking
and subsequent stopping, it is useful to be able to adjust the
position before actually drilling the hole for the magnet.
- Once you have determined the correct position, drill a small
hole at this spot (Ø 4 mm, depth ca. 5 mm). It must be posi-
tioned ca. 1.1 – 1.2 cm (centre magnetic tape/contact wire
and centre of magnet) in direction of travel, on the right, just
below the roadway (fig. 2). 32
