Quick Start Guide
Niagara®2200
Congratulaons on the purchase of your new Niagara 2200.
The following steps in this Quick Start Guide will help you set up and
congure your Niagara 2200 so you can begin streaming or capturing
video as quickly as possible. The Niagara 2200 web interface also allows
quick and easy access to its operaonal features. You must modify any
advanced setup opons of the Niagara 2200 encoders through this
interface before running an encoder session.
Complete the following steps to begin operang the Niagara 2200:
12 VDC Input for 100-240 volts, AC, 50-60 Hz
Plug the included power supply for the
Niagara 2200 into this connector and plug
the opposite end into an AC power source.
You may connect analog component, composite, or S-Video to the
Niagara 2200 as follows:
Component BNC Input , ,
The Niagara 2200 includes analog
component video BNC inputs.
Composite BNC Input
The Niagara 2200 includes a BNC-to-RCA
adapter so you can connect a composite RCA
video source to the BNC connector labeled
CVBS-Pb.
S-Video Input ,
You will nd this standard consumer video
connector on most video players and video
cameras. This connecon may require an
addional S-Video adapter (included).
NOTE: Three BNC-to-RCA adapters are included with your
Niagara 2200. These adapt the Component and Composite
BNC connectors to a common RCA connector found on most
consumer video cameras and video players. Also provided is a
Y/C video adaptor for connecng an S-Video source.
Unbalanced Audio Input
These RCA connectors provide le and right ste-
reo inputs. RCA connectors (standard consumer
stereo audio connecons) are on most video
players and video cameras.
Balanced Audio Input
These XLR connectors provide le- and right-
balanced stereo inputs. High-end audio and
video equipment may have these professional
connectors.
RJ-45 Ethernet Connector
The Niagara 2200 provides two network con-
nectors. Use either the primary
or secondary ethernet ports to connect to your
IP network.
NOTE: Contact your network administrator for assistance
if you are unfamiliar with network protocols.
The Niagara 2200 network sengs default to dynamically obtain an
IP address from a DHCP server on the network. For most network environ-
ments, you do not need to modify these default sengs. If the Niagara 2200 does
not nd a DHCP server or it remains unavailable on the network, the Niagara 2200
assigns its own IP address.
Once connected to a network, you should be able to access the built-in web
server by browsing to the unique machine name (the serial number is lo-
cated on the boom or side of the appliance). You may also set the IP address
through the web interface.
If you do not have a DHCP network or you cannot connect to the Niagara 2200
through its DNS name, you can connect a monitor, mouse, and keyboard direct-
ly to the Niagara 2200 to USB ports. The Niagara 2200 will have a Microso®
Windows 7 desktop.
The rst me you power on the Niagara 2200, the system takes a few moments
to boot up. From a separate computer on the same network as the Niagara
2200, launch a web browser such as Internet Explorer and enter the IP address
of your Niagara 2200.
1) Check to ensure you connect all devices (power cords, video and
audio sources, etc.) to the Niagara 2200.
2) Press Power on the front panel to start the Niagara 2200.
3) Browse to the Niagara 2200 from another computer on the
same network using Internet Explorer.
4) Click in the User Name eld and enter admin as the user name.
Then click in the Password eld and enter admin as the
password. Finally, click Log In or press Enter.
NOTE: System administrators should previously congure all
user names and passwords for those who they allow to log
on to the system. The default login username and password
are admin.
5) The rst me you start the Niagara 2200 and log in, the system
prompts you for the date, me, and video standard. You may
accept the default date, me, and video standard or select your
own opons, then select Submit.
6) The system may re-display the Admin Log In window again once
you submit the date, me, and video standard elds. You must
enter User Name and Password again.
7) This me when you enter your valid user name and password,
the system displays the Welcome window and Niagara 2200
Main Menu.
8) To view available encoder proles, from the menu bar click
Encoders >All Encoders.
9) This example demonstrates how to create an MPEG4
stream. Click Edit to the le of the Flash encoder to open
the Encoder Properes window. Check to ensure the
video, audio, and streaming sengs for the encoder
prole match your hardware setup using the Video, Audio,
and Output tabs. You may start a stream from the Encoders
window by clicking on Start MPEG4 Encoder in the upper
right area of the window.

10) On the Video tab, set video Input to Composite.
11) Click the Audio tab and set audio Input to Unbalanced.
Click Save Sengs.
12) To enable streaming, ensure the Enable Streaming box
is selected. Enter the proper address for the server
in the Desnaon IP eld and the port number in the
Port eld.
13) Click Save Sengs. Click OK aer the operaon is
successful.
14) Your streaming content is now available through your
server. To stream a live video, a CDN account is required.

A:Power Buon and Indicator Light
• Press this buon once to start the Niagara 2200.
• Press this buon once to turn o the Niagara 2200 when it is on.
• Press and hold for 5 seconds to execute an immediate power o.
NOTE: Do NOT aempt to encode while light connues blinking.
B:Reset Buon
• Resets the Niagara 2200.
• Use a pointed device to insert in the hole and press the reset buon.
• This buon has three dierent opons:
1.Press and release aer the rst set of 10 LEDs start to light
(approximately 1 to 3 seconds) to reboot the Niagara 2200.
NOTE: The lights on the volume indicator will illuminate in one-second intervals.
2. Press and release aer the second set of 10 LEDs start to light
(approximately 4 to 6 seconds) to keep all set proles and restore
the Niagara 2200 operang system.
NOTE: The lights on the volume indicator will illuminate in one-second
intervals, but do NOT progress all the way to the far right.
Warning! Opon 3 deletes all previously set proles.
3. Press and hold for approximately 10 seconds unl all 20 LEDs
remain lit to restore the Niagara 2200 to complete factory defaults.
C:Stream Buon and Indicator Light
• Iniates streaming of all proles assigned to the buon.
D:Stop Buon
• Stops the encoder streaming acvity when you press this buon once.
E:USB Port
• Allows the export of les to USB storage devices, installing updates
or rmware, or connecng USB devices.
F:Audio Lever Meters (Acvity Feedback)
• Audio feedback meters.
• Shows incoming le and right audio channel input.
G:Stereo Headphone Connecon
• The headphone output connecon is for audio monitoring.
H: Volume Buon (Up/Down)
•Audio level headphone control.
• This control changes the volume on the headset output only.
I:Alarm/Status Indicator
• Indicator light remains solid when an applicaon alert has occurred.
J:Remote Control
• Indicator light remains solid when another user is accessing the
Niagara 2200 across the network from a computer.
K: Video Condence Indicator
• Video encoding status (acve). The indicator will stay lit (blue) only
while streaming. If the video input is lost it will not be lit.
Use the front panel picture to familiarize yourself with the controls of the
Niagara 2200.

NOTE: You may also use the front panel Streaming
buon to start streaming.
NOTE: You can easily test this streaming prole
from the Encoders window by clicking the blue circle
Streaming buon on the right side of the encoder. The
buon changes from a red circle to a blue circle when
you start streaming. The status changes from Stopped
to Encoding Live.
