I. INTRODUCTION
Le THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION est un thermomètre électronique médical à infrarouge
révolutionnaire, équipé de la nouvelle technologie d’étalonnage automatique MicroSecond-
Flash™, développé par Visiomed®.
D’une utilisation simple, il mesure la température corporelle à une distance de 2 à 5cm, en moins
d’une seconde. Rapide et précis, il sut d’orienter le ThermoFlash® vers le front pour obtenir la
température instantanément.
ThermoFlash® est particulièrement ecace pour la prise de température des nourrissons et des en-
fants en bas âge. Il est démontré que la prise de température sur l’artère temporale est, chez le nou-
veau-né, plus précise que la thermométrie tympanique et mieux tolérée que la thermométrie rectale*.
ThermoFlash® est adapté à toute la famille.
ThermoFlash® trouve même une utilisation complémentaire pour vérier la température du
bain, des aliments ou la température ambiante.

II. PRÉCAUTIONS AVANT UTILISATION
Le THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION est pré-paramétré en sortie d’usine. Il n’est pas néces-
saire d’étalonner l’appareil lors de sa mise en service.
An d’obtenir un résultat able et stable, il est conseillé, à chaque changement d’environnement,
ayant une diérence de température ambiante importante, de laisser le THERMOFLASH®
LX-260T EVOLUTION à cette température ambiante pendant 15 à 20 minutes avant son utilisa-
tion. Avant toute nouvelle prise de température, attendre l’extinction de l’écran. Aucune prise de
température ne pourra être eectuée tant que l’écran est allumé.
III. PRINCIPE DE FONCTIONNEMENT
Chaque corps, solide, liquide ou gazeux, a la propriété d’émettre de l’énergie par radiation avec une
intensité qui est fonction de sa température. Le thermomètre infrarouge THERMOFLASH® LX-260T
EVOLUTION peut donc mesurer la température d’une personne par le biais de l’énergie qu’elle dé-
gage. Cette prise devient possible grâce à la sonde de température externe de l’appareil qui analyse
et enregistre en permanence la température ambiante. De sorte que, dès que l’opérateur approche
le thermomètre près du corps et déclenche le capteur de rayonnement, la mesure s’eectue instan-
tanément par détection de la chaleur infrarouge émise par le ux sanguin artériel. Le résultat de cette
mesure de température corporelle est alors obtenu sans interférence avec la chaleur environnante.
La grande qualité du ThermoFlash® est liée à la technologie unique développée par Visiomed®.
Les diérentes modalités de prise de la température
- La température centrale:
La température centrale est la plus précise, elle repose sur la mesure de la température dans
l’artère pulmonaire à l’aide d’un cathéter muni d’une sonde thermique qui fournit la tempéra-
ture in situ. Le principe est le même pour les sondes permettant la mesure de la température
oesophagienne. Cependant, les sites de mesure invasifs utilisent des méthodes dont la mise en
œuvre requiert un appareillage et des compétences spéciques.
- La température rectale:
La température rectale varie lentement par rapport à l’évolution de la température interne, il a
été démontré qu’elle demeure élevée bien après que la température interne du patient ait com-
mencé à baisser et vice-versa. De plus, des perforations rectales se sont déjà produites et sans
techniques de stérilisation convenables, la thermométrie rectale peut propager des contami-
nants souvent contenus dans les selles.
- La température buccale:
La température buccale est facilement inuencée par l’ingestion récente d’aliments ou de bois-
sons et par la respiration par la bouche. Pour mesurer la température buccale, il faut garder la
bouche fermée et la langue abaissée pendant trois à quatre minutes, une tâche dicile à réaliser
pour les jeunes enfants.

- La température axillaire:
S’il est facile de mesurer la température axillaire, il est démontré qu’elle procure une évaluation
inexacte de la température interne de l’enfant. Pour prendre ce type de température, il faut caler
le thermomètre bien en place sur l’artère axillaire. Malgré sa faible sensibilité, la température
axillaire est recommandée par l’American Academy of Pediatrics comme test de dépistage de la
èvre chez le nouveau-né.
La température tympanique:
La maîtrise de la technique de prise est essentielle à l’obtention d’une température précise. La
sonde du thermomètre doit être rapprochée de la partie la plus chaude du conduit auditif ex-
terne. Une mauvaise direction de la sonde peut causer une fausse estimation de la température.
Avantages de la température de l’artère temporale (AT)
La température artérielle à infrarouge peut être mesurée à l’aide d’un appareil déposé sur le
front, dans la région de l’artère temporale. Il est démontré que ce mode de prise de température
relativement nouveau est plus précis que la thermométrie tympanique et est mieux toléré que
la thermométrie rectale, notamment chez les nouveaux-nés.
Le thermomètre THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION a été conçu pour permettre une prise
de température frontale instantanée et sans contact sur l’artère temporale. Cette artère est as-
sez proche de la surface de la peau pour être accessible et permettre un résultat de mesure
précis car le ux sanguin y est permanent et régulier. Celle-ci est reliée au coeur par la carotide,
laquelle est directement reliée à l’aorte. Il s’agit du tronc principal du système artériel. L’ecacité,
la rapidité et le confort de la prise de température à cet endroit la rendent idéale par rapport aux
autres prises de température.
La prise de température en pratique
- Dans un souci de précision et de qualité de la mesure de température, il est indispensable que
chaque utilisateur soit susamment informé et formé à la technique de prise de température
avec un tel appareil.
- Il est essentiel de rappeler que la simplicité de certains gestes, comme la prise de température,
ne doit pas entraîner sa banalisation.
- La prise de température s’eectue dans un contexte neutre. Le patient ne doit pas avoir prati-
qué une activité intense avant la mesure, l’atmosphère ambiante doit être tempérée.
- Attention aux variations physiologiques de la température qui sont à prendre en compte en
fonction des résultats: la température augmente de 0.5C° entre 6h et 15h. Les femmes ont une
température plus élevée de 0.2C° en moyenne. Leur température varie également en fonction du
cycle ovarien. Ainsi elle augmente de 0.5C° en seconde partie de cycle et en début de grossesse.
- En position assise, la température est inférieure de 0.3 à 0.4C° par rapport à la position debout.

Visez le FRONT, côté temporal droit, de 2 à 5 cm de distance, pressez la touche de
mesure du thermomètre, la température s’ache instantanément. La abilité de la
mesure n’est pas assurée en cas de prise de température sur une autre région anatomique
(ex: bras, torse...).
Contraintes
Avant toute prise de température, et ce an d’obtenir un résultat stable et able :
- Prendre soin de dégager les cheveux.
- Essuyer la sueur du front.
- Éviter les ux d’air (ex : lunettes d’oxygène, climatisation…).
- Respecter un délai de 1 minute entre deux prises.
- À chaque changement d’environnement ayant une diérence de température ambiante im-
portante, laisser le ThermoFlash® à cette température ambiante pendant au moins 15 min
avant son utilisation.
IV. FONCTIONS
1. Spécialement conçu pour prendre la température corporelle d’une personne sans interfé-
rence avec la chaleur environnante.
2. Résultat de la mesure able et stable, grâce au système de détection infrarouge HEIMMANN.
3. Indication vocale des mesures et indicateurs de couleur an d’acher et d’interpréter rapide-
ment le diagnostic correspondant à la température obtenue.
4. Alarme sonore en cas de dépassement de température.
5. Mémorisation des 32 dernières prises de température.
6. Écran digital LCD rétro-éclairé.
7. Choix de l’achage des données en degré Celsius ou Fahrenheit.
8. Arrêt automatique (économiseur d’énergie).
9. Petit, pratique, facile à utiliser.
Applications secondaires:
Le THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION permet également de prendre la température du
bain, du biberon ou la température ambiante d’une pièce (en mode SURFACE TEMP ou ROOM).

VI. MISE EN MARCHE DE VOTRE THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION
1. Installez les piles.
2. À la première utilisation ou lors de l’insertion de nouvelles piles, attendez environ 10minutes
le préchauage de l’appareil.
3. Visez le front (VOIR SCHÉMA

PAGE 2) de 2 à 5 cm de distance, pressez la touche de mesure
du thermomètre, la température s’ache instantanément. La prise de température peut
également être eectuée derrière le creux de l’oreille – sur la jugulaire.
4. Avant toute prise de température, prenez bien soin de dégager les cheveux et la sueur du front.
5. Changez les piles lorsque le logo
s’ache à l’écran.
VII. CONFIGURATION & FONCTIONS DES MENUS
1. Choix du mode de prise de température
Le THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION est spécialement conçu pour prendre la température
corporelle d’un être humain en utilisant la fonction BODY.
Vous pouvez également utiliser le ThermoFlash® pour mesurer la température de la surface d’un
objet, d’un aliment, d’un liquide en sélectionnant le mode SURFACE TEMP.
En sélectionnant le mode ROOM, vous obtiendrez la température ambiante d’une pièce.
Plage de mesure du mode BODY: 32°C - 42.9°C (89.6°F - 109.2°F).
Plage de mesure du mode SURFACE TEMP: 0°C - 60°C (32°F - 140°F).
Plage de mesure du mode ROOM: 0°C - 50°C (32°F - 122°F).
Appuyez sur la touche MODE pendant 1 seconde, l’écran ache BODY.
Appuyez à nouveau sur la touche MODE pour passer en mode SURFACE TEMP ou ROOM.
Note: le THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION est paramétré par défaut sur BODY.
Important: La température d’une surface est diérente de la température interne du corps. La
température interne s’obtient toujours en utilisant la fonction BODY.
Veillez à bien sélectionner la fonction BODY pour une prise de température interne et la fonction
SURFACE TEMP ou ROOM pour une prise de température externe (Ex: Biberon, Bain, Chambre…).
2. Choix de l’unité de température
Appuyez sur la touche °C/°F pendant 1 seconde: le THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION af-
chera les températures en degrés Celsius (L’écran ache °C).
Appuyez de nouveau sur la touche °C/°F, le THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION achera les

températures en degrés Fahrenheit (L’écran ache °F).
3. Mémorisations des données
Pour acher les dernières prises de température mémorisées, appuyez 1 seconde sur la touche
MEM. Vous obtiendrez alors la dernière prise de température. Faites déler les dernières prises
de température, en appuyant sur la touche MODE.
Le chire indiqué en intervalle de deux prises correspond au numéro de la prise.
Appuyez sur la touche °C/°F pour retourner en arrière.
Pour sortir du menu de mémorisation, appuyez sur la touche de mesure. Le ThermoFlash®
s’éteint automatiquement au bout de 5 secondes.
4. Le bouton de langage
Utilisez le bouton de langage an de sélectionner la langue pour la fonction vocale. La langue
dont le nom est indiqué sera utilisée. Le thermomètre THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION
est réglé sur français par défaut.
5. Seuil d’alarme
Le seuil d’alarme sonore est déni à 38°C. En cas de température supérieure à 38°C, un bip
retentit lors de la prise de température.
6. Changement des piles
Achage : Lorsque l’écran LCD ache BATTERY, la batterie est déchargée.
Opération : Ouvrez le couvercle et remplacez les piles usées en prenant bien soin de respecter la
polarité. Une erreur de polarité peut provoquer l’endommagement et compromettre la garantie
de votre appareil. Ne jamais insérer de pile rechargeable. Utilisez des piles à usage unique.

- L’écran indique des températures inférieures à 32° (89.6°F) : pour mesurer une température
corporelle, le mode BODY doit être sélectionné. Si le thermomètre est en mode SURFACE TEMP ou
ROOM, la température achée de 32°C indique la température externe produite par votre corps.
- L’écran indique le message HI : la température mesurée est plus élevée que la plage du mode

I. INTRODUCTION
The ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION, developed by Visiomed®, is a revolutionary
infra-red medical thermometer without contact, tted with cutting edge MicroSecond
Flash automatic calibration technology™ using latest infrared technology. This latter allows tem-
poral artery (TA) temperature to be taken at a distance of about 2-5cm away from the forehead.
Precise, instantaneous and without contact, the ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION is totally
suitable for a precise temperature measurement without risk. It has been shown that this TA
temperature measurement, for newborns, is more precise than tympanic thermometry and bet-
ter tolerated than rectal thermometry (1).
However, as with other types of thermometer, it is essential to use the ThermoFlash® LX-260T
EVOLUTION properly in order to obtain reliable and stable results.
You are therefore advised to read this instruction manual and the safety precautions carefully before use.

II. PRECAUTIONS BEFORE USE
The THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION is pre-set at the factory. It is not necessary to cali-
brate the device when starting it up.
In order to obtain reliable and stable results, you are advised each time there is a

signicant change in the ambient temperature due to a change in environment, to allow the
ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION to acclimatise to this ambient temperature for 15 to 20
minutes before using it. It is important to allow a one minute interval between two measurements.
III. OPERATING PRINCIPLES
All objects, solid, liquid or gas, emit energy by radiation. The intensity of this energy de-
pends on the temperature of the object. The ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION in-
frared thermometer is therefore able to measure the temperature of a person by the
energy the person emits. This measurement can be taken thanks to an external temperature
probe on the device which permanently analyses and registers the ambient temperature. There-
fore, as soon as the operator holds the thermometer near the body and activates the radiation
sensor, the measurement is taken instantly by detection of the infrared heat generated by the
arterial blood ow. Body heat can therefore be measured without any interference from the heat
of the surrounding environment.
The dierent methods of temperature measurement
- Core temperature
Core temperature is the most precise measurement and involves measuring the temperature in
the pulmonary artery by means of a catheter equipped with a thermal probe which can read the
temperature in situ.The same method is employed for probes measuring the oesophageal tem-
perature. However, such invasive temperature measurement methods require specic equip-
ment and expertise.
- Rectal thermometry
Rectal temperature adjusts slowly in comparison to the evolution of the body’s internal tempera-
ture. It has been demonstrated that rectal temperature remains raised long after the internal tem-
perature of the patient has started to drop and vice versa. Furthermore, rectal perforations have
been known to occur as a result of this method and without appropriate sterilisation techniques,
rectal thermometry can spread germs often found in faeces.
- Oral thermometry
Oral temperature is easily inuenced by recent ingestion of food or drinks and by breathing
through the mouth. To measure oral temperature, the mouth must remain closed and the tongue
lowered for three to four minutes which is a dicult task for young children to accomplish.
- Axillary (armpit) temperature
Although it may be easy to measure axillary temperature, it has been proven that it does not
provide an accurate measurement of the child’s internal temperature. To take this type of tem-
perature, the thermometer must be wedged tightly over the axillary artery. Despite the low sen-
sitivity and relative inaccuracy of axillary temperature in detecting fever, this method is recom-
mended by The American Academy of Pediatrics as a screening test for fever in newborns.

- Tympanic thermometry
In order to obtain a precise temperature reading, good command of the measurement technique
is required.The thermometer probe must be placed as close as possible to the warmest part of the
external ear canal. An incorrectly placed probe could lead to a false temperature reading.
Advantages of temporal artery (TA) temperature
Infrared arterial temperature can be measured using a device placed on the forehead, in the tem-
poral artery region. It has been demonstrated that this relatively new method of measuring tem-
perature is more precise than tympanic thermometry and better tolerated than rectal thermometry.
The ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION thermometer has been designed to produce an instant
forehead temperature reading without any contact with the temporal artery. As this artery is
quite close to the surface of this skin and therefore accessible and given the blood ow is perma-
nent and regular, it allows precise measurement of the temperature. This artery is linked to the
heart by the carotid artery which is directly linked to the aorta. It forms part of the main trunk
of the arterial system. The eciency, speed and comfort of taking a temperature from this area
make it ideal compared with other temperature measurements methods.
Practical considerations when taking a temperature
- In order to ensure that precise and accurate temperature measurements are obtained, it is es-
sential that each user has received adequate information on and training in the temperature
measurement technique when using such a device.
- It is essential to remember that although procedures such as taking a temperature may be
simple they must not be trivialised.
- Temperature should be taken in a neutral context. The patient must not have undertaken vigorous
physical activity prior to taking his/her temperature and the room temperature must be moderate.
- Be aware of physiological variations in temperature which must be taken into consideration
when evaluating the results: temperature increases by 0.5C° between 6am and 3pm. Women
have a temperature that is higher, on average, by around 0.2C°. Their temperature also varies in
accordance with their ovarian cycle. It rises by 0.5C° in the second half of the cycle and at the
early stages of pregnancy.
- When sitting, temperature is lower by about 0.3° to 0.4°C than when standing.

Aim at the FOREHEAD, over the right temporal region, from a distance of about
2-5cm, press the thermometer’s measurement button and the temperature is instantly
displayed.
The reliability of the measurement cannot be guaranteed if the temperature is measured over
another part of the body (e.g. arm, torso…).

Constraints
Please observe the following before any temperature measurement to ensure a stable and reli-
able result:
- Push back hair from the forehead.
- Wipe away any perspiration from the forehead.
- Avoid any drafts (e.g. from nasal specs, air conditioning…).
- Allow a 1 minute interval between two measurements.
- The thermometer cannot be used as long as the display screen is not switched o.
- Each time there is a signicant change in the ambient temperature due to a change in environ-
ment, to allow the ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION to acclimatise to this ambient tempera-
ture for at least 15 minutes before using it.

VI. STARTING UP YOUR THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION
1. Install battery
2. For the rst use or when inserting new batteries wait between 10 minutes for the warm-up of
the apparatus and when inserting the new batteries.
3. Aim towards the forehead (see

for the ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION positioning),
from a distance of 2-5 cm, press the measuring key, the temperature is displayed in 1 second.
The temperature can also be taken behind the ear lobe.
4. Before taking the temperature, make sure to remove hair and perspiration from the forehead.
You can also take the temperature behind the ear lobe.

VII. SETTINGS
1. Choosing the temperature mode
The ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION is specially designed to measure body temperature
without contact, of children or adults. It can be used by consumers in household environment
and doctors in clinic as reference. For this, use the BODY mode.
Measurement range for BODY mode: 32°C – 42.9°C (90°F – 109°F).
Note : You can also use the ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION to measure the temperature of an
area or an object, food, a liquid or a room temperature. For this, use the SURFACE TEMP mode.
Measurement range for SURFACE TEMP mode: 0°C – 60°C (32°F - 140°F).
By selecting the ROOM Mode, it will display the ambient temperature of the room you are in.
Press the MODE button for one second, the screen will display: BODY for the body measurement
temperature. Press the MODE button again to switch to SURFACE TEMP or ROOM mode.
Note: The ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION is automatically set to BODY.
Important: The surface temperature diers from the internal body temperature. To obtain the
internal temperature, always use the BODY mode.
Please make sure to select the BODY mode for an internal temperature reading and the SURFACE
TEMP mode or the ROOM mode for an external area reading (bottle, bath, room…).
2. Choosing the temperature unit
Press the °C/°F button to select the temperature unit.The symbol of the chosen temperature unit
is displayed (°C for Celsius degrees and °F for Fahrenheit degrees).

3. Data memory
To display the last temperature measurement, press the MEM button.
You will obtain the last temperature measurement. To switch on the last measurement, press
the °C/°F button.
The number indicated in interval of two measures corresponds to the number of measurements.
Press on the button MODE for review of the previous measurements.
To exit data memory, press the measure key. The Thermoash® LX-260T EVOLUTION switches
o after 5 seconds.
4. Choosing the language
Use the Language key to choose a language for the vocal function. The choice of language is
visible.
Languages available: French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch, Silent Function.
By default the ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION is in French.
5. Alarm setup
The alarm threshold default value is 38°C (100.4°F). It cannot be changed. In case of higher tem-
peratures than 38°C, a signal beeps while measuring the temperature.
6. Changing the batteries
Display: when the LCD screen displays Battery, the battery is used.
Operation: Open the lid and change the batteries, taking great care with the correct positioning.
A mistake with this could cause damage to the apparatus and compromise the guarantee of
your ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION. Never use rechargeable batteries. Use only batteries
for single usage.

XI. TROUBLESHOOTING
If you have one of the following problems while using your ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION,
please refer to this breakdown service guide to help resolve the problem. If the problem persists,

- The screen displays temperature superior to 95°: the temperature is in Fahrenheit. Change
the measurement unit to Celsius.
- The screen displays the body temperature inferior to 32°C (89.6°F): to measure a body
temperature, the BODY mode must be selected. If you are on SURFACE TEMP mode, the 32°C
(89.6°F) temperature displayed is showing the external temperature that your body releases.
- The screen displays the message HI: when using the ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION,
the message HI can show on the screen.The analysis is above the measurement range selected,
either superior to 42.9°C (109°F) in BODY Mode or superior to 60°C (140°F) in SURFACE TEMP
Mode.
- The screen displays the message LO: when using the ThermoFlash® LX-260T EVOLUTION,
the message Lo can show on the screen. The temperature analysed is under the measuring
range selected, either less than 32°C (90°F) in BODY Mode or less than 0°C (32°F) in SURFACE
TEMP Mode.

De thermometer is eenvoudig in het gebruik, en meet de lichaamstemperatuur in minder dan
een seconde op een afstand van 2 tot 5 cm. Snel en nauwkeurig, het volstaat de ThermoFlash®
op het voorhoofd te richten om onmiddellijk de temperatuur te verkrijgen.
ThermoFlash® is bijzonder doelmatig voor het nemen van de temperatuur van zuigelingen en

II. VOORZORGSMAATREGELEN VOOR HET GEBRUIK
De THERMOFLASH® LX-260T zijn van te voren ingevoerd. Het is niet noodzakelijk het apparaat
bij de inwerkstelling te ijken.
Om een betrouwbaar en stabiel resultaat te verkrijgen wordt aangeraden de THERMOFLASH® LX-
260T EVOLUTION bij iedere omgevingswijziging die gepaard gaat met een groot verschil van de
omgevingstemperatuur 15 tot 20 minuten in deze omgevingstemperatuur te laten alvorens het
gebruik. Voor iedere nieuwe temperatuuropname dient u te wachten op het uitschakelen van het
scherm. Er kan geen enkele temperatuur worden opgenomen zolang het scherm is ingeschakeld.
III. WIJZE VAN FUNCTIONEREN
Ledere vaste stof, vloeistof of gas bezit de eigenschap door straling energie af te geven met
een intensiteit die afhangt van haar temperatuur. De infrarood thermometer THERMOFLASH®
LX-260T EVOLUTION kan zodanig de temperatuur van een persoon meten door middel van
de energie die zij afgeeft. Deze opname wordt mogelijk dankzij de externe temperatuursonde
van het apparaat die onafgebroken de omgevingstemperatuur analyseert en registreert. Op
dergelijke wijze dat zodra de bediener het lichaam nadert met de thermometer en de stral-
ingssensor in werking zet, de meting ogenblikkelijk wordt verricht door detectie van de door
de arteriële bloedstroom afgegeven infrarood warmte. Het resultaat van deze meting van de
lichaamstemperatuur wordt zodanig verkregen zonder interferentie met de omgevingswarmte.
De hoogwaardigheid van de ThermoFlash® staat in verband met de unieke door Visiomed®
ontwikkelde technologie.
De verschillende methodes van temperatuuropname
- De lichaamstemperatuur:
De lichaamstemperatuur is het meest nauwkeurig, zij berust op het meten van de temperatuur
in de longslagader met behulp van een katheter die is voorzien van een temperatuursensor die
de temperatuur in situ verstrekt. Het principe komt overeen met de sondes die het mogelijk
maken de oesophagus temperatuur op te nemen. Echter, de invasieve meetplaatsen gebruiken
methodes waarvan de inwerkstelling specieke apparatuur en vaardigheden vereist.
- De rectale thermometrie:
De rectale temperatuur varieert langzaam ten opzichte van de ontwikkeling van de inwendige
temperatuur. Het is aangetoond dat zij langdurig op een hoog niveau blijft, lang nadat de in-
wendige temperatuur van de patiënt is gedaald en vice-versa. Tevens hebben er zich reeds
rectale perforaties voorgedaan, en zonder geschikte sterilisatietechnieken kan de rectale ther-
mometrie contaminanten verspreiden die zich vaak ophouden in de ontlasting.
- De orale thermometrie:
De temperatuur in de mond wordt eenvoudig beïnvloed door de recente opname van voedsel
of dranken en ook door het ademen door de mond. Om de mondtemperatuur te meten, dient
de mond gesloten te blijven en de tong drie tot vier minuten worden neergelaten: een moeilijk

uit te voeren taak voor jonge kinderen.
- De axillaire thermometrie:
Het is eenvoudig de axillaire temperatuur te meten, maar het is aangetoond dat zij een onjuiste
beoordeling verschaft van de inwendige temperatuur van het kind. Om de temperatuur zodanig
op te nemen dient de thermometer goed op de axillaire slagader te worden geplaatst. Ondanks
haar geringe gevoeligheid om koorts op te sporen, wordt de axillaire temperatuur aanbevolen
door de American Academy of Pediatrics als opsporingstest van koorts bij de zuigeling.
- De tympanitische thermometrie:
De beheersing van de meettechniek is van groot belang voor de verkrijging van een nauwkeurige
temperatuur. Het warmste deel van de uitwendige gehoorgang dient te worden benaderd met
de sonde van de thermometer. Een onjuiste richting van de sonde kan een onjuiste beoordeling
van de temperatuur veroorzaken.
Voordelen van de temporale arterie (TA) temperatuur
De infrarood arteriële temperatuur kan worden gemeten met behulp van een op het voorhoofd
geplaatst apparaat, in de regio van de temporale slagader. Het is aangetoond dat deze relatief
nieuwe opnamemethode van de temperatuur nauwkeuriger is dan de tympanitische thermom-
etrie, en beter wordt getolereerd dan de rectale thermometrie, met name bij zuigelingen.
De thermometer THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION is ontwikkeld om een ogenblikkelijke
opname van de temperatuur via het voorhoofd mogelijk te maken, zonder contact met de tem-
porale slagader. Deze eenvoudig toegankelijke slagader bevindt zich in de nabijheid van het
huidoppervlak en maakt een nauwkeurig meetresultaat mogelijk, want de bloedstroom is hier
permanent en regelmatig. Zij staat in contact met het hart via de halsslagader, die direct is ver-
bonden met de aorta. Het betreft de voornaamste stam van het slagaderlijk systeem. Door de
doelmatigheid, de snelheid, en het gemak van het opnemen van de temperatuur op deze plaats
is deze methode ideaal ten opzichte van andere temperatuurmetingen.
Het nemen van de temperatuur in de praktijk
- Strevend naar nauwkeurigheid en kwaliteit bij het opnemen van de temperatuur, is het onont-
beerlijk dat iedere gebruiker voldoende is geïnformeerd en opgeleid voor de techniek van het
opnemen van de temperatuur met een soortgelijk apparaat.
- Het is belangrijk in herinnering te brengen dat de eenvoud van bepaalde handelingen, zoals het
opnemen van de temperatuur, niet dient te leiden tot de onttrekking aan haar specieke gebruik.
- Het opnemen van de temperatuur geschiedt in een neutrale context. De patiënt dient geen
intensieve activiteit te hebben beoefend alvorens de opname, de omgevingstemperatuur di-
ent gematigd te zijn.
- Let op de fysiologische schommelingen van de temperatuur waar rekening mee moet worden
gehouden naar gelang de resultaten: de temperatuur stijgt met 0.5 C° tussen 6 uur en 15 uur.

De temperatuur van vrouwen ligt gemiddeld 0.2C° hoger. Hun temperatuur schommelt ook
naar gelang de ovulatiecyclus. Zij stijgt zodanig met 0.5C° in het tweede deel van de cyclus en
bij aanvang van de zwangerschap.
- In zithouding is de temperatuur 0.3 tot 0.4C° lager ten opzichte van een staande positie.

Richt de thermometer op de rechter temporale zijde van het VOORHOOFD, op on-
geveer 2-5cm afstand, druk de meettoets van de thermometer in, de temperatuur ver-
schijnt onmiddellijk.
De betrouwbaarheid van de opname wordt niet gegarandeerd bij het nemen van de tem-
peratuur op een andere anatomische regio (bijv: arm, romp…).
Vereisten
Alvorens het opnemen van de temperatuur, en teneinde een evenwichtig en betrouwbaar re-
sultaat te verkrijgen:
- Zorg ervoor het haar uit het gezicht te verwijderen.
- De transpiratie op het voorhoofd afvegen.
- Luchtstromen voorkomen (bijv: zuurstofbrillen, airconditioning …).
- Een periode van 1 minuut in acht nemen tussen twee opnames.
- Bij iedere omgevingswijziging die gepaard gaat met een hoog verschil van de omgevingstemperatuur,
laat u de ThermoFlash® ten minste 15 minuten in deze omgevingstemperatuur alvorens het gebruik.
IV. FUNCTIES

interferentie met de omgevingswarmte.

Secundaire toepassingen:
De THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION maakt het eveneens mogelijk de temperatuur te
meten van het bad, de zuiges of de omgevings- temperatuur van een vertrek (in de modus
SURFACE TEMP of ROOM).

VI. INWERKSTELLING VAN UW THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION
1. Installeer de batterijen.
2. Bij het eerste gebruik of tijdens het installeren van nieuwe batterijen, wacht u ongeveer 10
minuten zodat het apparaat voorverwarmt.
3. Op een afstand van ongeveer 2-5 cm op het voorhoofd richten (SCHEMA

OP PAGINA 2), de
meettoets van de thermometer indrukken, en de temperatuur wordt ogenblikkelijk vermeld.
De temperatuur kan eveneens worden opgenomen achter de oorholte – op de nekader.
4. Alvorens iedere temperatuuropname, zorgt u ervoor het haar en transpiratie van het voor-
hoofd te verwijderen.
5. Vervang de batterijen wanneer het logo op het scherm verschijnt
.
VII. CONFIGURATIE & FUNCTIE VAN DE MENU’S
1. Keuze van de modus van de temperatuuropname
De THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION is speciaal ontwikkeld voor het meten van de li-
chaamstemperatuur van een mens met gebruikmaking van de functie BODY.
U kunt de ThermoFlash® eveneens gebruiken voor het opnemen van de oppervlaktetemperatuur
van een voorwerp, een voedingsmiddel, een vloeistof, door de modus SURFACE TEMP te selecteren.
Door de ROOM modus te selecteren verkrijgt u de kamertemperatuur van een vertrek.
Meetgebied van de BODY modus: 32°C - 42.9°C (89.6°F - 109.2°F).
Meetgebied van de SURFACE TEMP modus: 0°C - 60°C (32°F - 140°F).
Meetgebied van de ROOM modus: 0°C - 50°C (32°F - 122°F).
Door de toets MODE 1 seconde in te drukken verschijnt de vermelding BODY.
Druk nogmaals op de toets MODE om over te gaan op de SURFACE TEMP of ROOM modus.
Opmerking: De parameters van de THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION worden standaard in-
gesteld op BODY.
Belangrijk: De temperatuur van de omgeving verschilt ten opzichte van de inwendige temper-
atuur van het lichaam. De inwendige temperatuur wordt altijd verkregen door gebruik te maken
van de functie BODY.
Zorg ervoor de functie BODY te selecteren voor het inwendig opnemen van de temperatuur, en de
functie SURFACE TEMP of ROOM voor een uitwendige temperatuurmeting (Bijv: Zuiges, Bad, Kamer…).

2. Keuze van de temperatuureenheid
Druk 1 seconde op de toets °C/°F, de THERMOFLASH® LX-260TE vermeldt de temperaturen in
graad Celsius (Het scherm vermeldt °C).
Druk nogmaals op de toets °C/°F, de THERMOFLASH® LX-260TE vermeldt de temperaturen in graad
Fahrenheit (Het scherm vermeldt °F).
3. Gegevensopslag
Om de laatste opgeslagen temperatuuropnames te vermelden, drukt u 1 seconde op de toets MEM.
U verkrijgt vervolgens de laatste temperatuurmeting. Laat de laatste temperatuurmetingen
over het scherm rollen door de toets MODE in te drukken.
Het tussen twee temperatuuropnames vermelde cijfer komt overeen met het nummer van de meting.
Druk op de toets °C/°F op terug te keren.
Om het menu met de gegevensopslag te verlaten drukt u op de meettoets. De ThermoFlash®
wordt automatisch uitgeschakeld na 5 seconden.
4. De knop taal
Gebruik de knop taal om de taal in te stellen voor de spraakfunctie. De naam van de geselect-
eerde taal wordt uitgesproken.THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION staat standaard ingesteld
op Frans.
5. Alarmgrens
Het geluidsalarmniveau is vastgelegd bij 38°C. Bij een temperatuur van boven de 38°C gaat een
bliep af tijdens de temperatuurmeting.
6. Vervangen van de batterijen
Vermelding: Wanneer de batterij leeg is vermeldt het LCD scherm BATTERY .
Operatie: Open de batterijenhouder en vervang de versleten batterijen, en let hierbij goed op
de polariteit. Een vergissing met de polariteit kan het apparaat beschadigen en afbreuk doen
aan de garantie van uw apparaat. Nooit oplaadbare batterijen installeren. Gebruik batterijen
voor eenmalig gebruik.

IX. OPMERKINGEN
- Het beschermglas van de lens is het belangrijkste en meest kwetsbare onderdeel van de ther-
mometer, er dient zorgvuldig mee te worden omgegaan.
- Reiniging van het glas met een met water of 70° alcohol bevochtigd katoenen doekje.
- Uitsluitend de vermelde batterijen gebruiken, niet oplaadbare batterijen niet opnieuw op-
laden, ze niet in vuur gooien.
- De batterijen verwijderen wanneer de thermometer langdurig niet wordt gebruikt.
- De thermometer niet blootstellen aan de zon en aan water.
- Dit product kan worden beschadigd door een schok.

XI. HET OPSPOREN EN OPLOSSENVAN FOUTEN
Als u een van de volgende problemen heeft bij het gebruik van uw THERMOFLASH® LX-260T
EVOLUTION, raadpleeg de servicegids om het probleem op te lossen. Neem, als het probleem
zich blijft voordoen, contact op met onze klantenservice op +33 892 350334.
- Het scherm toont temperaturen boven 95°: de temperatuur staat op Fahrenheit. Wijzig de
meeteenheid in Celsius.
- Het scherm toont temperaturen onder 32° (89.6°F): om een lichaamstemperatuur te meten,
moet de modus BODY worden geselecteerd. Als u in de modus SURFACE TEMP of ROOM bent,
toont de weergegeven temperatuur van 32°C de externe temperatuur die uw lichaam uitstraalt.
- Het scherm toont het bericht HI:de temperatuur is hoger dan het bereik van de geselect-
eerde modus. Hoger dan 42.9°C (109.2°F) in de modus BODY of 60°C (140°F) in de modus SUR-
FACE TEMP.
- Het scherm toont het bericht LO:de geanalyseerde temperatuur ligt onder het meetgebied
van de geselecteerde modus, te weten onder 32°C (89.6°F) in de BODY modus, onder 0°C (32°F)
in de SURFACE TEMP modus.

I. INTRODUCCIÓN
El THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION es un revolucionario termómetro médico electrónico
de infrarrojos, equipado con la nueva tecnología de calibración automática MicroSecondFlash™,
desarrollada por Visiomed®.
De utilización simple, mide la temperatura corporal a una distancia de 2 a 5 cm, en menos de
un segundo. Rápido y preciso, es suciente con orientar el ThermoFlash® hacia la frente para
obtener la temperatura instantáneamente.
ThermoFlash® es particularmente ecaz para la toma de temperatura de los bebés y de los niños
de corta edad. Está demostrado que la toma de temperatura sobre la arteria temporal es, en el
recién nacido, más precisa que la del termómetro timpánico y mejor tolerada que la del ter-
mómetro rectal*.
ThermoFlash® es apto para toda la familia.
ThermoFlash® puede también ser utilizado para comprobar la temperatura del baño, de los
alimentos o la temperatura ambiente.

II. PRECAUCIONES ANTES DE SU UTILIZACIÓN

l THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION está congurado a su salida de fábrica. No es necesa-
rio calibrar el aparato durante su puesta en servicio.
A n de obtener un resultado able y estable se aconseja, en cada cambio de entorno en el
que pueda haber una diferencia de temperatura ambiente importante, dejar el THERMOFLASH®
LX-260T EVOLUTION a esta temperatura ambiente durante 15 o 20minutos antes de su utili-
zación. Antes de cada nueva toma de temperatura esperar al apagado de la pantalla. No podrá
ser efectuada ninguna toma de temperatura mientras la pantalla esté iluminada.
III. PRINCIPIO DE FUNCIONAMIENTO
Cada cuerpo, sólido, líquido o gaseoso, tiene la propiedad de emitir energía por radiación con
una intensidad que está en función de su temperatura. Así pues, el termómetro infrarrojo THER-
MOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION puede medir la temperatura de una persona a través de la en-
ergía que ésta desprende. Esta toma se hace posible gracias al sensor de temperatura externa del
aparato, la cual analiza y registra permanentemente la temperatura ambiente. De manera que,
cuando el operador aproxima el termómetro cerca del cuerpo y activa el sensor de radiación, la
medida se efectúa instantáneamente por detección del calor infrarrojo emitido por el ujo san-
guíneo arterial. El resultado de esta medida de temperatura corporal se obtiene sin interferencia
con el calor circundante. La gran calidad del ThermoFlash® está vinculada a la tecnología única
desarrollada por Visiomed®.
Las diferentes modalidades de toma de temperatura
- La temperatura central:
La temperatura central es la más precisa, ya que se basa en la medida de la temperatura en
la arteria pulmonar con ayuda de un catéter provisto de un sensor térmico que proporciona
la temperatura in situ. El principio es el mismo para las sondas que permiten la medida de la
temperatura esofágica. Sin embargo, los sistemas de medida invasivos utilizan métodos cuyo
funcionamiento requiere unos aparatos y unas competencias especícas.
- La termometría rectal:
La temperatura rectal varía lentamente en relación a la evolución de la temperatura interna.
Se ha demostrado que continúa elevada incluso después de que la temperatura interna del
paciente haya comenzado a bajar y viceversa. Además se pueden producir pequeñas lesiones
rectales. Sin técnicas de esterilización convenientes, la termometría rectal puede propagar con-
taminantes contenidos a menudo en las heces.
- La termometría bucal:
La temperatura bucal es fácilmente inuenciada por la ingestión reciente de alimentos o de
bebidas y por la respiración por la boca. Para medir la temperatura bucal, es necesario mantener
la boca cerrada y la lengua bajada durante tres o cuatro minutos, una tarea difícil de realizar para
los niños pequeños.

- La termometría axila:
Aunque medir la temperatura axilar resulta fácil, está demostrado que proporciona una evaluación
inexacta de la temperatura interna del niño. Para tomar este tipo de temperatura, es necesario
colocar bien el termómetro contra la arteria axilar. A pesar de su escasa sensibilidad para revelar la
ebre, la temperatura axilar está recomendada por la American Academy of Pediatrics como test de
detección de la ebre en el recién nacido.
- La termometría timpánica:
El dominio de la técnica de toma es esencial para la obtención de una temperatura precisa. La
sonda del termómetro debe aproximarse a la parte más caliente del conducto auditivo externo.
Una mala dirección de la sonda puede causar una falsa estimación de la temperatura.
Ventajas de la temperatura de la arteria temporal (AT)
La temperatura arterial por infrarrojos puede ser medida con ayuda de un aparato colocado en
la frente, en la región de la arteria temporal. Está demostrado que este modo de toma de tem-
peratura, relativamente nuevo, es más preciso que la termometría timpánica y es mejor tolerado
que la termometría rectal, especialmente en los recién nacidos.
El thermomètre THERMOFLASH® LX-260T EVOLUTION ha sido diseñado para permitir una
toma de temperatura frontal instantánea y sin contacto sobre la arteria temporal. Esta arteria
está sucientemente próxima a la supercie de la piel para ser accesible y permitir un resultado
de medida preciso, ya que el ujo sanguíneo es permanente y regular. Está unida al corazón por
la carótida, la cual está directamente unida a la aorta. Forma parte, por tanto, del tronco principal
del sistema arterial. La ecacia, la rapidez y la comodidad de la toma de temperatura en este
lugar la hacen ideal frente a las otras tomas de temperatura.
Instrucciones para la toma de temperatura
- Para una mayor precisión y calidad de la toma de temperatura, es indispensable que cada usuario
esté sucientemente informado y formado en la técnica de toma de temperatura con este aparato.
- Es esencial recordar que la simplicidad de ciertas técnicas, como la toma de temperatura, no
debe suponer su banalización.
- La toma de temperatura debe realizarse en condiciones normales. El paciente no debe haber prac-
ticado una actividad intensa antes de la medida, la temperatura ambiente debe ser templada.
- Se deben tener en cuenta las variaciones siológicas de la temperatura que pueden afectar a
los resultados: la temperatura aumenta 0.5°C entre las 6h y las 15h. Las mujeres tienen la tem-
peratura más elevada 0.2°C de media respecto a los hombres. Su temperatura varía igualmente
en función del ciclo ovárico. Así ésta aumenta 0.5°C en la segunda parte del ciclo y al comienzo
del embarazo.
- En posición sentada la temperatura es de 0.3 a 0.4°C inferior a la posición de pie.
