SAFETY &
MAINTENANCE
TOP TIPS TO ENJOY
YOUR JOURNEY SAFELY

SAFETY & MAINTENANCE 13
Safety is of paramount importance. You must carefully read the advice
and guidelines within this manual to minimise your risk of accident and
injury before setting up and using the scooter.
KEEP SAFE
1. Read this manual carefully to help you understand, use and maintain
your Volter properly and understand all its features.
2. We recommend you learn how to ride the scooter in open areas,
with no trac and with few people and obstructions nearby.
3. You must always follow local trac rules and national laws and
regulations when riding the scooter. Do not ride this scooter
on public roads.
4. Use Speed Mode 1 while you get comfortable and more confident
riding the scooter.
5. Helmets, knee pads and back protector must be worn at all times.
6. Ensure you wear flat and comfortable shoes when riding the
scooter for maximum stability.
7. Before use, ensure all scooter parts appear in the correct position,
as per this user manual, and ensure you have sucient charge
to complete your journey.
8. Always check the scooter before use. Make sure all screws
and fasteners are tightened before use.
9. Ensure tyres are inflated to the correct pressure (36 Psi). Riding
with incorrect tyre pressure is dangerous and will reduce the life
of your tyres and increase the possibility of a puncture.
10. Make sure the handlebars are secured and locked in position
before riding.
11. Ride the scooter with both hands on the handlebar at all times.
Do not ride the scooter one-handed at any point.
12. Keep both feet on the deck at all times when riding the scooter.
13. Do not use the scooter for stunts. This will unnecessarily increase
risk to the rider and those closeby. Both tyres must be in contact
with the ground at all times for maximum stability and security.
14. Do not ride the scooter with any additional passengers. The Volter
Series One is designed to be ridden by one person at any one time,
with no exceptions.
15. Do not ride the scooter when visibility is poor or significantly
reduced.
16. Take care not to ride the scooter in challenging ground conditions,
i.e. ice, snow, oil or sand. This will impact the grip of the tyres and
therefore aect your balance and stability on the scooter.
17. Always ride in accordance with the surroundings. If you are in
a busy area you must decrease your speed to allow for proper
detection of potential hazards and obstructions. The same rule
applies for variations in light and weather conditions - reduce
speed in the case of adverse conditions.
18. Never ride the scooter under the influence of drugs or alcohol,
which are proven to impair your judgement and will put you
and others at risk.
19. Do not use the scooter if you feel tired, drowsy, or you have
a pre-existing condition that impacts your capacity to drive.
BATTERY & CHARGER
This scooter is equipped with a lithium battery and charger.
Only a charger supplied by Volter may be used to charge the battery.
This charger cannot be used to charge other brands and/or types
of batteries.

15SAFETY & MAINTENANCE
CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Do not leave the scooter unattended whilst charging.
2. Do not start the motor while charging the scooter.
3. Ensure the charger is inserted into the charging port before
connecting to the power source.
4. Once plugged in, when the light on the charger is glowing red, the
charging process is ongoing. When the light turns green, this means
that the charging process is complete.
5. Once the battery is fully charged, the charger has an inbuilt
overcharge protection function, where the battery will automatically
stop charging once it reaches 100%.
6. You must only use a Volter approved charger to charge your scooter.
7. After charging, you must replace the charger cover on the scooter
before each use. Failure to do so may allow water ingress which
will void the warranty.
HOW TO GET THE BEST OUT
OF YOUR BATTERY
1. When you reach the last bar of battery, we recommend slowing
down to conserve power, and consider continuing the remainder
of your journey on foot.
2. If you are storing the scooter for 1 month or longer without use,
ensure the battery is fully charged before storing. Continue to
charge the battery on a monthly basis. If the battery is not charged
monthly, the battery may go into ‘self-protection state’ and will not
charge. If this is the case, please contact the Volter support team.
BATTERY RELATED FAULTS
DO NOT ride the scooter under the following circumstances:
1. The battery is damaged.
2. There is an abnormal smell, or the battery is emitting heat.
3. In the event of any liquid leakage from the battery, stop riding
the scooter IMMEDIATELY and DO NOT touch the aected area.
The product should be stored out of the reach of children until
the scooter has been repaired.
BRAVING THE ELEMENTS
Temperature limits: The following parameters will protect against
damage to the battery and the motor:
Operating temperature 0 - 40º celsius
Charging temperature 10 - 40º celsius
Storage temperature 0 - 40º celsius
1. The scooter is not intended for use at elevations greater than
2000m above sea level.
2. Avoid riding through puddles.
3. Prolonged exposure to UV rays, rain and the elements may damage
the scooter and its parts. Please make sure to store the scooter
indoors when not in use.
4. Never store the scooter within direct sunlight. This could lead
to the temperature of the scooter and its battery reaching a
temperature greater than the recommended 40º celsius which
could cause substantial damage.
SERVICING AND REPAIRS
1. WARNING – Risk of fire and electric shock. None of the scooter parts
are to be serviced by the user. Your Volter must only be repaired
with original spare parts from a licensed supplier or shop. In addition,
repairs by non Volter approved engineers will invalidate warranty.
