State of the art technology once only found among the clouds is now
available at road level. In this case, we’re talking about the advanced
radar and video technology that monitors the vehicles driving up ahead.
If you are ever distracted or tired, the system’s ability to identify your lane
– and any stationary vehicles in your lane – can help you reach your
destination without incident. But please note: the most intelligent safety
feature in any car is the driver. Remaining alert is your responsibility.

A closer look inside your Volvo V70 will reveal some impressive on-board
intelligence (in addition to yours, of course). At speeds over 30 km/h,
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) can automatically maintain a safe
distance from the car in front of you. Collision Warning with Auto
Brake (CWAB) for highway driving can warn you if you’re too close to the
vehicle in front of you and can – if a collision can’t be avoided – activate
the brakes to help reduce the effects of a crash. On long trips, when it’s
easy to lose concentration, Driver Alert Control (DAC) can remind you
if you’re getting tired. And by continuously monitoring your car’s position
on the road, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) will alert if you weave
out of your lane without signaling.

The accelerated program

There is a feeling of safety that comes with the ability to accelerate quickly.
Every Volvo engine is engineered to make that feeling last. Whichever
engine you choose for your Volvo V70, you’ll get a powerplant built with
the mandate to do more with less. Especially notable in this regard is
the new high-performance D5. This class-leading 2.4 diesel delivers
205 hp and 420 Nm of torque yet uses less fuel – thanks to the new
high-pressure fuel system with advanced Piezo injectors and sequential
twin-turbochargers (for smoother access to power throughout the rpm
range). There is even a brilliant DRIVe variant available with the lowest
C02emissions for luxury cars in this class (119 g/km).

exceptional handling and performance characteristics of this car extract
good will from most any stretch of pavement, especially corners. The
wide stance and rigid body structure play a part, as does the sophisticated
chassis, speed-dependent rack and pinion steering, and the graceful
aerodynamics. In addition to the well-matched engines and gearboxes,
the standard traction control and available active chassis and all-wheel

bring a good portion of it with you.
Other cars get driven. The Volvo V70 is built to be exploited. With a cargo
volume of 575 litres (and that’s with the rear seatbacks up) there’s plenty
of room for provisions of most any sort or dimension. A power tailgate makes
opening and closing effortless and there are many loading and towing
accessories available to help you manage the awkward bundle or boat
– with style. After all, this is a luxury car, but with a service entrance.

Even cargo travels first class.
The Volvo V70 has some smart solutions available for transporting your gear; rear
seats in three sections that fold flat in one step, hidden compartments that stay hidden,
aluminium floor rails with movable anchorage points to fix cargo and, of course,
a foldable protective grille is also available to help separate the cargo from the crew.
Fold down as much of the 40/20/40 split rear seat as you need to combine cargo and
passengers comfortably and safely. The head restraints tuck conveniently out of the
way, providing a flat-floored loading compartment. You can also add a floor-attached
load securing net and a net pocket for each side panel. And to conceal equipment in
the load compartment, simply pull out the retractable load cover.

Registered guests only.
Intruders beware. The Volvo V70 knows who belongs and who doesn’t.
The Personal Car Communicator helps sort out key holders from the
crowd. Check your PCC remote on your return to your car and you can
see if your alarm has been triggered. A tip like this can be most beneficial.
What’s more, your Volvo V70 also knows to let you unlock doors with
a grasp of a handle and start your car without a key in hand – just have
the PCC fob in your pocket or handbag. There is also a level sensor
available that can warn you if someone is attempting to tow away your
car or steal your wheels. Other security enhancements include a world
first for estates: laminated glass all around.

Running on E85 bioethanol in a Volvo Flexifuel (2.0F
or 2.5FT), you can significantly cut your greenhouse
gas emissions. Because bioethanol is a renewable
fuel, the carbon dioxide emissions from combustion
is already part of the ecosystem and won’t contribute
to greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere.

Fast responding after a cold star t, Volvo’s advanced emission
control eliminates between 95 and 99% of carbon monoxide,
hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides from petrol engine exhaust
gases. The Volvo turbo diesels feature a par ticulate filter
that removes about 95% of the particles from the diesel
exhaust gases. Most engines comply with stringent Euro 5
emission requirements.

All our upholsteries and interior textiles are tested for certain
allergy-inducing or harmful substances and comply with Oeko-Tex
Standard 100. And several interior metal details are tested with
