7.1 DeviceID
TheDeviceIDtestidentifieswhatequipment connectedtotheotherendoftheport
or cable.Thetestfirstlooksfor voltagebeingpresentontheconnector pins.
Ifvoltagesarefoundin thetelephonevoltagerange,theLCD will displaythisvoltage
.
Ifnovoltageisdetected, theEasyCheck900 will checkfor Ethernetlinkpulses.Iflink
pulsesaredetected, theEasyCheck900will reporttheEthernetinformation,i.e.
speed. TheEasyCheck900 default cablefor connectingisastraight throughcable.
InthecaseofanetworkcardbeingconnectedtotheotherendoftheEthernetcable,
theEasyCheck 900will display “NIC”,if aHUBor SWITCHisconnected, the
EasyCheck900 will display “HUB or SWITCH”.
Warning,ifyouuseacrossovercabletoconnecttheEasyCheck900,thetesterwill
incorrectly display “HUB or SWITCH”instead of “NIC”.In thecasewherethe
EasyCheck900 reports"AutoMDI/MDI-X',itmeanstheremotedevicesupports
auto-adaptingcrossoverandstraightthrough cables.
