Voorwoord
Deze gebruikershandleiding beschrijft de Aardlekschakelaar Tester.
De informatie in deze handleiding is belangrijk voor het goed en
veilig functioneren van het meetsysteem. Indien u niet bekend
bent met de bediening, het preventief onderhoud etc. van dit
meetsysteem, lees dan deze gebruikershandleiding van het begin
tot het einde goed door. Bent u wel bekend met deze zaken, dan is
deze handleiding als naslagwerk te gebruiken. U kunt de benodigde
informatie snel vinden met behulp van de inhoudsopgave.
In deze gebruikershandleiding worden om de aandacht te vestigen
op bepaalde onderwerpen of acties, de volgende markeerconventies
gebruikt.

Garantie
Mors Smitt B.V. geeft gedurende een periode van 12 maanden garantie
op het meetsysteem.
De garantieperiode gaat in op de dag dat de levering plaatsvindt. De
aansprakelijkheid is vastgelegd in de leveringsvoorwaarden van het
FME en HE.
Waarschuwingen op de tester
Op de tester zijn een aantal pictogrammen aangebracht, die als doel
hebben de gebruiker te waarschuwen voor de mogelijke risico’s, die
nog aanwezig kunnen zijn ondanks het veilige ontwerp.

1. Algemene veiligheidsvoorschriften
Lees voordat u handelingen verricht die verband houden
met de tester deze gebruikershandleiding aandachtig
door. Mors Smitt B.V. is niet aansprakelijk voor verwon-
dingen, (nanciële) schade en/of overmatige slijtage
ontstaan ten gevolge van onjuist uitgevoerd onderhoud,
onjuist gebruik van of modicaties aan de tester.
Het is niet toegestaan om de behuizing of de beveili-
gingen van de tester te verwijderen of door handige
constructies te omzeilen en/of te overbruggen, tijdens
gebruik. De meetmethoden en -bereiken staan op de
achterzijde vermeld.
Het is verboden de tester in een explosiegevaarlijke
ruimte te plaatsen en/of te gebruiken.
Als de RCT-C door een derde partij wordt ge-bruikt bent
u, zijnde de eigenaar/gebruiker, zelf verantwoordelijk,
tenzij anders is overeengekomen.
Reparaties mogen alleen door Mors Smitt B.V. worden
uitgevoerd.
Zorg voor een schone, opgeruimde en goed verlichte
testruimte/werkplek.

2. Inleiding
2.1 algemeen
De Arbeidsomstandighedenwet (ARBO-wet) is bedoeld om de veilig-
heid van de werknemer op de werkplek te garanderen. In de norm
EN 50110 en NEN 3140 worden de veiligheidseisen en -testen met
betrekking tot de elektrische installatie en elektrische apparaten/
gereedschappen verder uitgewerkt.
2.1.1 Het beoogde gebruik
De RCT-C werkt volgens de EN 61243-3 norm en de NEN 3140. De tester
is bedoeld voor het uitvoeren van metingen aan aardlekschakelaars.
Met dit meetsysteem kunt u aardlekschakelaars testen die gevoelig zijn
voor sinusvormige foutstromen. De RCT-C is niet geschikt voor andere
toepassingen.
Ieder ander gebruik dan hierboven beschreven sluit uw leverancier uit
van iedere verantwoordelijkheid.
Opbouw
De RCT-C is een meetsysteem waarmee testen aan aardlekschakelaars
(met of zonder tijdsvertraging) kunnen worden uitgevoerd.
Aardlekschakelaars kunnen worden getest op:
1. Gevoeligheid volgens de vorm van de foutstroom
(aanspreekstroom)
- wisselstroomtype
2. Uitschakel vertraging (aanspreektijd)
- zonder vertraging (standaard type)
- met vertraging (selectief type)
3. Uitschakelstroom (aanspreekstroom)
- 10 mA; 30 mA; 100 mA; 300 mA; 500 mA ;650mA
Aansluiten
De RCT-C wordt gevoed door vier AA batterijen (meegeleverd). De
tester is voorzien van een aan/uit schakelaar en is na inschakelen direct
klaar voor gebruik.
Meten
Met de RCT-C kunt u de volgende metingen verrichten:

Transport
De tester is een draagbaar meetinstrument en wordt tijdens de meting in de
hand gehouden of weggelegd op een stevige ondergrond. Bij vervoer moet
de tester goed worden beschermd om beschadiging te voorkomen.
2.3 Certicatie
De tester voldoet aan de van toepassing zijnde Europese Richtlijnen.
Tijdens het ontwerp van het meetsysteem zijn normen toegepast om
te kunnen voldoen aan de fundamentele eisen van de Richtlijnen. Op
basis van deze gegevens is CE-markering aangebracht. De Richtlijnen
en normen worden opgesomd in de EU-verklaring van Overeenstem-
ming

3. Werken met de tester
De tester mag alléén worden gebruikt, wanneer geen
beschadigingen of defecten zijn geconstateerd en alle
originele componenten die bij het meetsysteem horen,
juist gemonteerd zijn.
Het vervoer en het hanteren van de tester dient
voorzichtig te geschieden om beschadigingen te
voorkomen.
Zoek een plaats voor de gebruikershandleiding, zodat
deze zich tijdens het gebruik van de RCT-C binnen
handbereik bevindt.

Test 1: Testen aanspreektijd (t)
Instellen en uitvoeren test 1:
1. Zet de tester“AAN” door ongeveer 2 seconden op de “ON”-knop
te drukken
2. Sluit de RCT-C aan op een wandcontactdoos (WCD)
3. De positie van de Fase (L) wordt weergegeven op het display
alsmede de correct aangesloten aardleidingaansluiting (PE) en de
aanwezigheid van de netspanning (230 V)
Als de meter de waarschuwing‘400 V’ weergeeft, is deze
aangesloten op een 400 V-net en zijn geen verdere
metingen mogelijk. Koppel het apparaat los van het
lichtnet en controleer de installatie.
4. Selecteer via de mA/ms knop de stand ms [aanspreektijd (t)]
5. Selecteer via de 180°/0° knop de fase van de startstroom (180°
wordt getoond op het display)
6. Selecteer via de N/S knop een standaard of selectieve aardlek-
schakelaar (Het [S] symbool staat voor een selectief type)
7. Selecteer met de RANGE knop de juiste aanspreekstroom
(=nominale foutstroom In)
8. Druk op de [TEST] toets om de meting te starten
Als er een foutspanning > 50 V optreedt, wordt de waar-
schuwing ‘50 V’ gegeven, klinkt er een waarschuwings-
signaal en schakelt de achtergrondverlichting van het
display naar “rood”. Koppel het apparaat los van het licht-
net en controleer de installatie.

10. Een blauw display geeft een juiste meting aan, een rood display
geeft een foutieve meting aan
11. Maak het testobject los of voer opnieuw een test uit
Test 2: Aanspreekstroom (I)
Instellen en uitvoeren test 2:
1. Sluit de RCT-C aan op een WCD
2. Selecteer via de mA/ms knop de stand mA [Aanspreekstroom (I)]
3. Selecteer via de 180°/0° knop de fase van de startstroom (180°
wordt getoond op het display)
4. Selecteer via de N/S knop een standaard of selectieve aardlek-
schakelaar (Het [S] symbool staat voor een selectief type)
5. Selecteer met de RANGE knop de juiste aanspreekstroom
(=nominale foutstroom)

6. Druk op de [TEST] toets om de meting te starten
7. Het meetresultaat verschijnt op het display
8. Een blauw display geeft een juiste meting aan

10. Maak het testobject los of voer opnieuw een test uit
3.2 Kalibratie en reparatie
Om de goede werking en meetnauwkeurigheid van de RCT-C te
waarborgen adviseren wij u deze tenminste éénmaal per jaar te laten
kalibreren. Hiermee kunt u aantonen dat de gekeurde producten aan
een genormeerde testprocedure zijn onderworpen.
De kalibratie wordt door Mors Smitt uitgevoerd. In het kalibratie
rapport worden de resultaten, beoordelingen, plaats, datum en naam
van de verantwoordelijke persoon vermeld.
De RCT-C bevat geen onderdelen die door de eigenaar zelf kunnen
worden vervangen (batterijen uitgezonderd). Voor kalibratie en/of
reparatie stuurt u uw RCT-C franco naar:

Vervangen van de batterijen
Wanneer het symbool voor een bijna lege batterij op het
LCD-scherm verschijnt, moeten de vier 1.5V ‘AA’ batterijen worden
vervangen.
• Verwijder de schroef waarmee het batterijklepje vastzit
• Verwijder het klepje van het batterijvak
• Vervang de batterijen en let daarbij op de polariteit
• Plaats het klepje terug en zet de schroef vast
Gebruik alleen maar de batterijsoorten die in de
technische specicatie vermeld zijn.

Preface
This manual describes the RCT-C Tester. The information in this
manual is important for proper and safe functioning of the machine.
In case you are not familiar with the operation, the preventive main-
tenance, etc. of the RCT-C Tester, then you read this user manual from
the beginning to the end thoroughly.
If you are familiar with these matters, you can use this manual for
reference. You can nd the required information rapidly using the
table of contents.
In this user manual, the following four marking conventions are used
to focus attention on certain subjects of actions.

Warranty
Mors Smitt B.V. guarantees the tester for a period of 6 months.
The period of warranty will be eective at the day of delivery. The
warranty clauses and the stipulations regarding liability in terms of
delivery (FME and HE).

2. Introduction
2.1 General
The working conditions Act (ARBO-law) is intended to ensure the safety
of the employee in the workplace. In EN 50110 and NEN 3140, the
safety requirements and tests relating to the electrical installation and
electrical appliances/tools further developed.
2.1.1 Intended use
The RCT-C tester is intended to be used for checking of the safety of
electrical installations.
The RCT-S is intended for execution of all tests concerning dierent
protective switches with dierential current protection. If the instru-
ment is used in manner not specied in this user manual, the protec-
tion provided by the instrument may be impaired and the supplier is
excluded from any responsibility.
Structure
The RCT-S is an electronic controlled instrument intended for the
execution of all tests concerning dierent protective switches with dif-
ferential current protection (with or without switch-o delay)
RCD types which can be tested by RCT-S:
1. The sensitivity according to the form of the fault current
- type AC
2. The disconnection delay
- without delay (standard type)
- with delay (selective type)
3. The rated values of the fault currents
-10 mA; 30 mA; 100 mA; 300 mA; 500 mA ; 650mA
Connection
The instrument is powered by four AA batteries. The tester is provided
with a on/o switch and can after powering up the instrument, be used
at once.
Measuring
The following measurements can be executed by the instrument:
1. The tripping time (t) at the current of IΔN
2. The trip out current (IΔ)
3. The mains voltage between the phase and the protective earth
terminals

Transport
The tester is a portable test device which can be hand-held or lay down (solid
foundation) during the tests. Take care of the instrument during transport to
avoid any damage.
2.3 Certicatie
The tester and this manual have been designed, constructed and
tested according to the European directives. During all these phases
the relevant (preliminary) European standards have been taken into
account. The CE-mark has been mounted on the instrument. The
directives and the standards mentioned are enumerated in the EC-
Declaration of Conformity.

3. How to use the tester
The tester can only be used if no damages and/or defects
are noticed and all original components belonging to the
tester are mounted
The transportation and the handling of the tester should
be done carefully to prevent any damage.
Find a place to put the manual such that it is within reach
during the use of the instrument.

Test 1 Tripping time (t)
How to carry out test 1:
1. Power on the tester by pressing the ON button for 2 seconds
2. Connect the measuring system to a 230 V power outlet
3. The position of the phase (L) is displayed on the display as well as
the properly connected earth connection (PE) and the presence
of the mains voltage (230 V)
When the meter displays the warning‘400 V’, it is con-
nected to a 400 V- supply and no further measurements
are possible. Disconnect the device from the mains and
check the installation.
4. Select the ms mode with the mA/ms button [Tripping time (t)]
5. Select the starting phase of the starting current with the 180 °/
0 ° phase. 0 ° or 180 ° will be shown on the display
6. Select a standard or selective earth leakage circuit breaker with
the N/S button (The [S] symbol stands for a selective type)
7. Select right Tripping current with the RANGE button the
(=nominal fault current In)
8. Press the [TEST] button to start the measurement.
If there is a fault voltage > 50 V occurs, the warning ‘50 V’,
a warning signal sounds and the backlight of the display
turns ‘red’. Disconnect the device from the mains and
check the installation.
9. The measurement result appears on the display
10. A blue display gives a proper measurement, a red display gives
a erroneous measurement on

Test 2: Trip out current (I) at tripping time (t)
How to carry out test 2:
1. Connect the measuring system to a 230V power outlet
2. Select the mA mode with the mA/ms button [Trip current (I)]
3. Select the button through the 180 °/0 ° phase of the starting cur-
rent. In this case, will be shown on the display 180 °
4. Select via the N/S button a standard or selective earth leakage
circuit breaker (The [S] symbol stands for a selective type)
5. Select with the RANGE button the right Contact current
(= nominal fault current)
6. Press the [TEST] button to start the measurement
7. The measurement result appears on the display
