Upon Purchasing Your Walker Bay Boat
• READ THE OWNER’S SAFETY MANUAL CAREFULLY. If you resell your boat
you will need to transfer this manual and the Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin
(MSO) to the new owner, so please store them in a safe place.
• Ensure that your MSO, which is located in the same package as this manual, is
completed.Your dealer should fill this out at the time of purchase.
• Check that all the components listed in the Assembly Instructions are included
in your hull or seat box.
• Register your boat (using your MSO certificate & Hull ID #) with your
State/Province if required. Regulations vary by jurisdiction, so contact your local
registration office directly. A list of US registration offices is provided.
Certification
Walker Bay boats are certified by the US National Marine Manufacturers’ Asso-
ciation (NMMA), and meet US Coast Guard, Canadian Coast Guard and Euro-
pean (CE) safety standards. They are designed for sheltered waters including
small lakes, canals, bays and rivers with wave conditions up to and including
1.5ft (.5m). Note that all three (3) seats must be installed for the boat to meet the
safety standards because they contain foam required for flotation.
Warning
• The safety of your Walker Bay boat and its users is highly dependant on
uncontrolable variables such as but not limited to the state of the weather, sea or
water, and the experience and physical condition of the crew; therefore, one can
never ensure or assume full safety of the vessel or users.
• Read this owner's manual carefully. It contains the minimum information neces-
sary to operate your Walker Bay boat, some safety topics, and operation and
maintenance suggestions.
• This owner's manual is not a guide to boating safety or how to navigate, anchor,
or dock your boat.Your dealer, national sailing federation or yacht club should
advise you on local marine schools or competent instructors.
• This owner's manual is not an operation, maintenance or troubleshooting
booklet.
• Always maintain your boat properly and adjust your use to the condition of the
boat which may wear with time and use.
• Obtaining and maintaining necessary safety equipment is the responsibility of
the boat owner.
• A personal flotation device (PFD) is required for each passenger.
• Do not use your boat if you suspect it has a crack or hole.
• Do not use the boat as a tow craft or toy.
• Do not remove the warning label from the boat.
• Do not use the boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Load Distribution and Passenger Positioning
Load distribution is critical for safety and performance in all small boats. Refer to
diagram A for reccomended passenger distribution in your Walker Bay boat.
Capsize Recovery when Sailing
Capsizing is a risk faced in any small boat when sailing. Refer to diagram B for
capsize recovery procedure. The minimum crew mass for righting a Walker Bay
boat is 40 Kg.
Repairing Your Walker Bay Boat
With use, your boat will show wear. Most dents or scratches are not problems.
They repair themselves with the heat of the sun. For larger deeper dents, heat
the inside or outside surfaces with a hair dryer. Do not overheat the surface – it
should not be too hot to touch. When the area is warm, apply pressure to aid the
polypropylene in reforming to its original shape.
In the event of more serious boat damage such as a hole or crack in the hull or
seats, do not use it. Contact our customer service line for repair information.

Characteristics of Polypropylene
• The polypropylene used has been specially formulated to maximize impact
resistance. This results in a softer plastic that can be susceptible to scuffing. If
polypropylene is subjected to severe impact, whitening in the material may occur,
but this does not represent a weakening of the material.
• Polypropylene does not adhere well to other materials. Small repairs can be
made using Walker Bay’s authorized repair kit. For larger repairs contact our
customer service line. If you are required to attach registration decals, you should
use the highest possible adhesion, or contact us for suggested tips for improving
adhesion.
Cleaning Your Walker Bay Boat
Your boat can be cleaned with a boat cleaning agent such as Meguiar’s Vinyl &
Rubber Cleaner. Avoid using oily or abrasive substances. Read labels and
instructions carefully to avoid products that could damage polypropylene or other
plastics. DO NOT use products that contain phosphates, chlorine, solvents,
non-biodegradable or petroleum based products. Citrus-based cleaners are
excellent for marine cleaning purposes, and are safe to use. Household cleaners
should be used sparingly and not discharged into waterways. Never mix cleaners
and be sure to work in a well ventilated area.
Storing Your Walker Bay Boat
Your boat is UV stabilized and uses only stainless steel hardware, so it will stand
up well to the elements for many years. To maximize the life of your boat we
recommend the following:
• Protect your boat with a storage cover or flip it over to prevent water from
gathering inside it.
• If your boat will remain unused for long periods of time, store it indoors.
• If you keep your boat in a windy area, tie it down.
