Einleitung
In dieser Anleitung sind die zweckmäßigen Arbeitsabläufe für die anfallenden Demontage- und Montagearbeiten an
der Reibkupplung beschrieben. Dabei wird vorausgesetzt, dass die Arbeiten von qualifiziertem Fachpersonal durch-
geführt werden.
Die sachgerechte Ausführung von Demontage- und Montagearbeiten ist Voraussetzung für eine zuverlässige Arbeits-
weise.
Die Bildfolge zeigt den Ablauf eines Reparaturvorgangs, der Text gibt die nötigen Hinweise. Die Zahlen im Text, z. B.
(3), beziehen sich auf die Positionsnummer im Bild und in der Explosionszeichnung.
Dabei sind die wesentlichen Instandsetzungen so aufgeführt, dass auch Einzel- und Kleinarbeiten entnommen und
gut verfolgt werden können.
Die Walterscheid GmbH arbeitet im Zuge der technischen Weiterentwicklung ständig an der Verbesserung ihrer
Produkte. Darum müssen wir uns Änderungen gegenüber den Abbildungen und Beschreibungen in dieser Anleitung
vorbehalten, ohne dass daraus ein Anspruch auf Änderungen an bereits ausgelieferten Reibkupplungen abgeleitet
werden kann.

These instructions describe the suitable work sequences for all necessary disassembly and assembly work on the fric-
tion clutch. In this context, it is assumed that the work is performed by qualified professionals.
The pictures show the sequence of a repair process, the text provides the necessary information. Figures in the text,
e.g. (3), refer to item numbers in the picture and in the exploded view.
Essential repairs are thereby demonstrated in such a way that even individual parts and small items can be located and
traced.

Le présent manuel de réparation contient les instructions de réparation du limiteur à friction.
L‘exécution correcte des travaux de montage et de démontage est une condition indispensable pour un fonctionne-
ment fiable.
Ce manuel de réparation décrit les procédures appropriées d‘exécution de travaux de montage et de démontage sur le
Limiteur à friction. Il est implicitement entendu que les travaux sont exécutés par un personnel qualifié.
La séquence des figures montre le déroulement d‘une opération de réparation, le texte donnant les indications néces-
saires. Les chires indiqués dans le texte - par exemple (3) - se rapportent aux numéros des positions sur la figure, et
sur la vue éclatée.
Les travaux globaux de réparation sont présentés de manière à permettre également l‘exécution aisée de travaux iso-
lés ou de faible envergure.

Funktionsweise
Reibkupplungen sind drehmomenterhaltende Kupplungen und erforderlich, um große Massen wie
z. B. Schwungräder zu beschleunigen. Während der Beschleunigungsphase rutscht die Kupplung und setzt
die dabei absorbierte Energie in Wärme um.
Ebenso wird bei Blockade des Antriebs die gesamte Reibleistung in Wärme umgesetzt. Da im Bauraum nur
ein begrenzter Durchmesser mit einer begrenzten Masse zur Verfügung steht, erhitzt sich die Kupplung
sehr schnell. Die gespeicherte Wärme muss über ihre Oberfläche abgeführt werden. Die Abkühlung nimmt
daher viel Zeit in Anspruch.
Die Ansprechzeit und die Länge der Rutschzeit sind sehr begrenzt, da die Kupplung sonst durch Überhit-
zung zerstört wird.
Bei Reibkupplungen wirken federbelastete Flächen auf Reibbeläge. Der Reibwert und die Anpressung be-
stimmen das übertragbare Drehmoment.
Functioning
Friction clutches are torque-maintaining clutches and are necessary for accelerating large masses, such as
flywheels. The clutch slips during the acceleration phase, converting the absorbed energy into heat in the
process.
Similarly, when the drive is blocked, the entire frictional power is converted into heat. Since only a limited
diameter with a limited mass is available in the installation space, the clutch heats up very rapidly. The accu-
mulated heat must be dissipated via its surface. Consequently, cooling takes a long time.
The response time and the duration of the slipping time are very limited, since the clutch would otherwise
be destroyed by overheating.
In friction clutches, spring-loaded surfaces act on friction linings. The coecient of friction and the pressure
applied determine the transmissible torque.
Fonctionnement
Les limiteurs à friction sont des mécanismes à maintient de couple, nécessaires à la mise en route de
masses importantes telles que des volants d’inertie par exemple. Lors du démarrage, le limiteur patine et
transforme en chaleur l’énergie ainsi absorbée.
De même lors de blocages, tout le patinage est transformé en chaleur.
Du fait que le limiteur est d’un diamètre limité et d’une masse restreinte, il s’échaue rapidement. La quanti-
té de chaleur libérée doit aussi se disperser à partir de ses surfaces extérieures. Le refroidissement ne se fait
en conséquence que sur un temps relativement long.
Le temps de réponse et la durée du glissement sont limités, sinon le limiteur passe en surchaue, ce qui le
détruit
Dans les limiteurs à friction des surfaces en contact avec des disques de glissement sont mises en œuvre
par pression de ressorts. Le coecient de glissement et la pression déterminent le couple.

Einstellwerte der Kupplung

Valeurs de réglage du limiteur
Die Schraube (A) wird mit 20 Nm angezogen. Sie drückt die Tellerfeder auf das vorgegebenes
Maß
und legt sich am Röhrchen an. Daraus resutiert die Blockreserve (Kontrollmaß) von
min. 0,4 mm bis max. 1,0 mm. Somit ist das Einbaumaß der Tellerfeder immer sichergestellt.
Achtung!
In der montierten Kupplung darf die Blockreserve L1 von 0,4 mm nicht unterschritten
werden.
Die maximale Blockreserve wird mit 1,0 mm angegeben.
Zur korrekten Ermittlung des Maßes L1 empfehlen wir die Verwendung einer Fühlerlehre.
Warning!
The block reserve L1 of 0.4 mm must be observed in the installed clutch.
The maximum block reserve is specified as 1.0 mm.
We recommend using a feeler gauge to correctly determine the dimension L1.

Vor Einsatz und nach längerer Stillstandszeit Arbeitsweise der Reibkupplung
überprüfen und lüften!
Prior to first-time use and following prolonged stoppages, check the operation
of the friction clutch and release it.
Avant la mise en route, comme après un long temps d’arrêt, la fonction du
limiteur doit être vérifiée, et ce dernier doit être ventilé( détendu)
Anmerkung:
Länger nicht eingesetzte Kupplungen sind den Umwelteinflüssen (Feuchtigkeit/Tempera-
tur) ausgesetzt, die ein Festbacken/Verkleben der Reibbeläge und eine Änderung des
Reibwertes bewirken können. Daher müssen Reibkupplungen nach jeder längeren Still-
standszeit gelüftet werden. Im gelüfteten Zustand soll die Kupplung kurz durchgedreht
werden.
Note:
Clutches that are not used for extended periods are exposed to environmental influences
(moisture/temperature), that can cause seizing/sticking of the friction linings and a change
in the coecient of friction. Consequently, friction clutches must be released after every
lengthy stoppage. The clutch should be turned briefly while released.
Remarque :
Les limiteurs non utilisés sur une période longue sont sensibles aux éléments de
l’environnement (humidité et température), qui peuvent déterminer un collage des disques
et influencent ainsi la valeur de glissement. De ce fait, après un long temps de repos, tous
les limiteurs à friction doivent être ventilés (détendus). De plus, dans cette situation, les
limiteurs doivent tourner.

2. Einlauf-Instruktionen / Running-In Instructions / Instructions de rodage
Reibkupplungen, bei denen die Reibbeläge erneuert wurden, oder Reibkupplungen, die aus
Einzelteilen im Service komplettiert werden, sind einem Einlaufvorgang zu unterziehen. Nach
der Montage einer Reibkupplung muss ein Einlaufen erfolgen, um das Betriebsdrehmoment
der Kupplung zu erreichen. Einlaufvorgang bei geringer Geräteleistung durchführen, damit die
Kupplung nicht überhitzt wird. Nach Abkühlen der Kupplung auf handwarme Betriebstempe-
ratur am Kupplungsgehäuse sollte das vorgegebene Betriebsmoment erreicht sein.
Überprüfen Sie nach dem Einlaufvorgang mit entsprechenden Prüfeinrichtungen das Drehmo-
ment der Kupplung und korrigieren Sie bei abweichenden Werten die Einstellung der Kupplung.
Friction clutches whose friction linings have been renewed, or friction clutches assembled from
individual parts in the Service Department, must be subjected to a running-in procedure.
Following the installation of a friction clutch, running-in must be carried out in order to achieve
the operating torque of the clutch. The running-in procedure should be performed at low
machine power to avoid overheating of the clutch. The specified operating torque has been
reached when the clutch subsequently cools down to a hand-hot operating temperature on the
clutch housing.
After clutch run in is complete, check the clutch torque by the appropate method and adjust the
clutch setting as reavired to achieve correct torque.
Les limiteurs dont les disques de friction ont été changés et ceux montés à partir de pièces du
magasin sont à soumettre à un rodage. Après montage, un limiteur à friction doit être rodé pour
atteindre son niveau normal de tarage. Ce rodage doit être réalisé sous eort minimum, afin de
ne pas surchauer le limiteur. Après refroidissement jusqu’à température ambiante le couple
initial est à nouveau atteint.
Après la procédure de rodage du limiteur, à l’aide d’un dispositif de contrôle adéquat, vérifier
le couple du limiteur et si besoin rectifier la valeur de réglage du limiteur.
Achtung!
Heißgelaufene Kupplungen vor weiterem Einsatz auf handwarme Betriebstemperatur
abkühlen lassen, um das Betriebsmoment zu erreichen.
Caution!
If a clutch overheats, allow it to cool to hand-hot operating temperature prior
to continuing use in order to achieve the operating torque.
Attention :
Des limiteurs mis en surchaue doivent être refroidis jusqu’à température
ambiante pour retrouver leur capacité initiale avant toute reprise du travail .

Ventilation du limiteur
Die nachfolgenden Schritte gelten für im Gerät eingebaute
Kupplungen sowie für ausgebaute Kupplungen, wie hier ge-
zeigt.
Sechskantmuttern (10) über Kreuz lösen, herausdrehen und
entfernen.
The following steps apply to clutches installed in the device
and for uninstalled clutches, as shown here.
Loosen, unscrew and remove the hexagon nuts (10)
cross-wise.
Les opérations suivantes s’appliquent aussi bien aux limiteurs
incorporés dans la machine qu’aux limiteurs démontés,
comme le montre l’illustration ci-contre.
Devisser les écrous (de façon crosée) et les ôter (10).
Hinweis:
Schrauben nur mit Ring-oder Maulschlüssel bzw. einer
Ratsche lösen. Keinen Schlagschrauber verwenden.
Note:
Loose screws only with ring spanner or wrench or
ratchet. No impact wrench use.
Information:
Dévisser les vis uniquement avec une clé á oeil ou á
pipe éventuellement clé á cliquet.
Ne pas utiliser de clé á choc.
Sechskantschrauben (9) lösen und herausschrauben bis das
Schraubenende bündig zum Gabelfansch ist.
Loosen the hexagon bolts (9) and unscrew until they are
flush with the yoke flange.
Retirer les vis jusqu‘au rebord de la machoîre.
Danach Kupplungsnabe (4) durchdrehen.
Then turn the clutch hub (4).
Puis faire tourner le moyeu.

Sechskantschrauben über Kreuz wieder mit 20Nm anziehen.
Re-tighten the hexagon bolts cross-wise with 20 Nm.
Revisser les vis au couple 20 Nm (de façon crosée).
Hinweis:
Schrauben nur mit Ring-oder Maulschlüssel bzw.
einer Ratsche anziehen.
Keinen Schlagschrauber verwenden.
Note:
Re-tighten screws only with ring spanner or wrench
or ratchet. No impact wrench use.
Information:
Revisser les vis uniquement avec une clé á oeil ou á
pipe éventuellement clé á cliquet.
Ne pas utiliser de clé á choc.
Sechskantmuttern (10) ansetzen und mit 49 Nm festschrau-
ben.
Sechskantschraube dabei mit einem Ring- oder Maulschlüssel
gegen Verdrehen festhalten.
Nun ist die Kupplung wieder einsatzbereit. Sind die Reibbelä-
ge gegen neue Reibbeläge ausgetauscht worden, so sollte die
Kupplung einem Einlaufverfahren unterzogen werden.
Position the hexagon nuts (10) and tighten with 49 Nm.
Use a hexagon key to tighten the hexagon bolts in order to
prevent them from turning.
The clutch is now ready to use again. If the friction linings
have been renewed, it is essential that the clutch is subjected
to a running-in procedure.
Remettre les écrous et les serrer à 49 Nm ( Retenir la vis avec
une clé adéquat).
A présent, le limiteur est de nouveau en état de marche.
Si les disques de friction ont été remplacés par des disques
neufs, il faut absolument les soumettre à un rodage.

Die 6 Sechskantschrauben (9) mit den Rohren (8) über Kreuz
gleichmäßig lösen und entnehmen.
Loose the hexagon bolts (9) with the tubes (8) in
evenly cross-wise and remove.
Desserrer et extraire les 6 boulons hexagonaux (9).
Hinweis:
Schrauben nur mit Ring-oder Maulschlüssel bzw.
einer
Ratsche lösen. Keinen Schlagschrauber verwenden.
Note:
Loose screws only with ring spanner or wrench or
ratchet. No impact wrench use.
Kupplung in Schraubstock fest einspannen und die 6 Sechs-
kant-muttern (10) lösen.
Clamp the clutch firmly in the vice and loosen the 6 hexagon
nuts (10).
Bien serrer le limiteur dans l’étau et tourner les 4 écrous hexa-
gonaux (10) jusqu’à ce qu’ils entrent en contact avec le disque
d’entraînement (12).
Hinweis:
Muttern nur mit Ring-oder Maulschlüssel bzw. einer
Ratsche lösen. Keinen Schlagschrauber verwenden.
Note:

Position the hub (4).
Ajouter le moyeu (4).

Reibscheiben auf Verschleiß bzw. Rost prüfen.
Reibscheiben reinigen und ggf. erneuern.
Reibscheiben müssen sauber und fettfrei sein!
Check the friction discs for wear and/or rust.
Clean the friction discs, and renew them if necessary.
The friction discs must be clean and free of grease!
Vérifier s’il y a usure ou présence de rouille sur les disques de
friction.
Nettoyer les disques de friction et les remplacer si nécessaire
Les disques de friction doivent être propres et exempts de
