1.4 Important safety information
The safety instructions and warnings described here are
intended to safeguard your health as well as protect the
product. The following points must be read through care-
fully.
Damage resulting from inappropriate use or the failure to
observe these instructions or safety information is not
covered by the guarantee. Liability will not be accepted
for secondary damage.
General conditions
Product damage from incorrect operation
in stormy weather!
If the recommended wind speed limits are
exceeded (see Tab. 2), damage to the awn-
ings can be expected.
Retract the awning to the upper limit posi-
tion and take out of service.
Product damage from wetness!
The formation of water pockets on the awning
fabric can cause the unit to fail.
Protect the awning fabric by retracting it in
wet weather.
Product damage from incorrect behaviour
in windy weather!
Especially in winter, awnings can be expected
to freeze up. In wintry temperatures, retract
the awnings to the upper limit position and
take out of service. We recommend the use of
an ice monitoring system.
Do not use the product in icy weather. The
product must be cleared of ice and snow be-
fore it can be used. Liability cannot be ac-
cepted for damage to the product resulting
from the operation under icy conditions.
Product damage from power failure!
Motorised awnings cannot be retracted without
power. Manual emergency operation or an
emergency power supply should be considered
for windy regions with frequent power failures.
Operating notes
Risk of crushing injuries!
When retracting and extending the product, do
not reach into movable parts (e.g. drop profile
or drop arm).
Danger of entanglement!
When retracting or extending the unit, do not
reach into rotating parts (e.g. fabric shaft) or
else injuries may result.
Risk of injury due to static charge!
Contact with persons or objects may result in
electrostatic discharge from statically charged
fabric.
Product damage and property damage
from carelessness during operation!
The projection area of the product must be
kept clear of fixed and movable obstacles.
Product damage from operation of faulty
product!
Only use the awning when it is in perfect
technical condition. If the awning makes unu-
sual noises or movements, stop using it im-
mediately. Inform your qualified specialist.

2.3 Intended use
The drop-arm awnings of type 310/314, 330, 340 and 350
are sun shading systems that may only be employed to
provide privacy and protect against summer heat and
glare. Inappropriate use may result in significant danger.
All awnings for external use are designed for a wind load
of 1.1 kN/m² (DIN 1055). The directive entitled "Wind
loads for construction of closures and awnings when re-
tracted – Section 5.1.1"
1
defines the positions at which
these products can be installed without requiring special
precautions.
Additional loads on the window awning in the form of
hanging objects could damage the product or cause it to
detach from the wall and are therefore not permitted.
The intended use also includes observing these instruc-
tions and the care and maintenance conditions.

vents such as alcohol or naphtha.
Do not support yourself on the product or
parts of the product.
4.2 Care instructions
To ensure the longest possible life, we rec-
ommend you clean the surface of the product
regularly or at least once a year.
If the first cleaning takes place years after
initial installation, the product cannot be re-
turned to its original condition.
Replacement claims cannot be honoured on
the grounds of these cleaning and care in-
structions because the effectiveness of these
measures depends on a large number of fac-
tors that vary from case to case.
Perform a functional check with the product. Watch
the product as it travels the full range of movement
and look out for any unusual behaviour or noises.
Clean the product regularly (see "Cleaning proce-
dure" table).
Fully extend the drop-arm awning when doing so.
Cleaning procedure
Wash the fabric with a mild detergent solu-
tion (water max. 30°C). A special waterproof-
ing agent has been applied to acrylic fabrics.
This waterproofing layer is diminished every
time the fabric is washed.
Clean the surfaces with a suitable cleaning
agent.
Remove dirt or objects from the product.
Fallen leaves create the conditions neces-
sary for microbial activity.
Use a clear rubber eraser to rub dirty marks
off the fabric.
Brush off the fabric (only for coated polyester
fabrics).
Inspect the operating elements and fabric for visible
wear and damage.
Check the substructure for damage.
Perform a functional check with the product. Watch
the product as it travels the full range of movement
and look out for any unusual behaviour or noises.
Have any damage repaired by a qualified specialist
as soon as possible. Retract the awning and take it
out of service.
4.3 Maintenance instructions
The product must be maintained regularly or
at least once a year.
Inspection and maintenance work is only to
be carried out by an appropriately qualified
specialist. We recommend you take out a
maintenance agreement with a qualified spe-
cialist.
The WAREMA warranty becomes invalid if
the unit is not cleaned properly at least once
a year.
DANGER
Risk of injury through irregular maintenance!
Check the product regularly for signs of
wear and damage, e.g. on the motor line.
Do not use products in need of repair. In
this case, move the products to the upper
limit position and take them out of service.

When inspecting or maintaining electrical
parts, the unit must be de-energised and
locked out.
Check the function and the limit positions of the
product.
Check the product for visible wear, for damage to
the motor line and to ensure it is securely attached
(e.g. check that the screws have a firm hold).
Make a visual check of all movable parts.
Check that all consoles are firmly in place. The
consoles must be attached flush against the mount-
ing substructure without a gap.
Check that the clamping supports are firmly seated
every six months (type 314 only).
Retension the clamping supports (type 314 only) by
unscrewing the base.
Clean the guide rails.
Change the battery on products with remote control.
Inform the operator of operating risks (e.g. ice for-
mation).
DANGER
Functional problems and product damage due
to incorrect operation in frosty conditions! The
product can freeze up below the specified
temperature (+ 3 °C).
Do not operate frozen products.
Avoid using force to operate frozen prod-
ucts. This may damage the blinds.

5.1 What you should know about fabrics
Technical fabrics may exhibit certain characteristics due to
production and sizing that may appear to the operator to
be "faults".
The blemishes described below will not affect the usability
or durability of the fabric:

Repair/dismantling
[B866589_3] - EN / 05.04.12 Page 13 of 16 Subject to change without notice.
Wrinkles (grey cracking)
Wrinkles can be produced when the fabric is assembled
(cut and sewn) and when it is folded. Surface effects
(shifts in pigmentation) can occur in the wrinkles. When
viewed against the light, these resemble dirty marks (es-
pecially on light-coloured fabric).
Chalk lines
These are light stripes of the impregnating material on the
fabric surface. They result from handling the fabric during
production and assembly of the units. Although the fabric
is handled with special care, these effects cannot be fully
avoided in dark fabrics.
Waviness in the seams and fabric panels
As the fabric is wound onto and off of the shaft, it is tight-
ened more at the borders, seams and panels than be-
tween the seams. The resulting tension in the fabric can
lead to waviness (e.g. waffle or fishbone patterns) that
"digs" into the fabric. The waves are visible when the unit
is open.
Waffling
Because of the production method, waffling may form
under certain weather conditions and in certain fabric
sizes. This effect is more visible in unfavourable lighting
conditions. The formation of waffling is accelerated and
enhanced through wetness (humidity, rain). If a fabric that
has been "softened" in this way is retracted, waffling and
wrinkles can become particularly pronounced.
Weave flaws
Spinning of the yarns as well as warping in the weaving
mill and the weaving process itself is executed under ten-
sion. The yarn may break. This will lead to knots. Irregular
thread thicknesses are seen as light areas or burls in the
fabric.
6Spare parts/repairs
CAUTION
Personal injury or property damage resulting
from inappropriate repairs!
The product should only be repaired by a
qualified specialist.
To ensure that your product operates properly on a con-
tinuous basis and to avoid changing its approved status,
use WAREMA spare parts only. Contact a qualified spe-
cialist for further information if necessary.
7Dismantling/disposal
CAUTION
Personal injury or property damage from incor-
rect dismantling!
The product should only be dismantled by
a qualified specialist.
Dismantling and re-installation of the product must be
undertaken by a qualified specialist in accordance with
current guidelines and standards. Be sure to ask the
manufacturer for any missing documents before beginning
to dismantle or reinstall the product.
Should the product no longer be required, ensure that it is
disposed of correctly in accordance with the relevant
regulations.
Procedure for disposal
Components identified in this manner should
not be disposed of with the household trash.

Troubleshooting
