Home Maintenance….
The valve does not open or close…………………….
If all controls are functioning as normal but the valve is failing to close, please see Routine
Maintenance below as the valve assembly may be blocked up.
How to manually bypass the valve to allow water flow…………………….
WARNING The manual bypass must only be used in an emergency to restore the water
supply when the controller is damaged or there has been loss of mains power.
Rotate the whole coil head as shown.
NOTICE: THIS WILL DEACTIVATE WATER LEAK PREVENTION AND MAY
INVALIDATE YOUR BUILDINGS INSURANCE.
General Maintenance….
This system requires minimal maintenance and will only require the following:
1. Routinely check water sensing tape for contaminants which may cause alarm
failure.
2. In hard water areas it is recommended that the valve is removed and cleaned with
limescale remover every 12 months as build up can cause the unit to fail.

System Profile….
The Waterguard Puddle is the latest development in multi zone water leak detection
technology. It’s language free control unit which has 5 water leak detection channels,
requires no setup and minimal maintenance making it the easiest system on the market to
install and operate.
Your system will be monitoring up to 5 water leak detection channels using various water
sensing devices dependent on application. These include, water sensing cable or tape,
water sensing feet and/or float switches. When any of these devices detect water, the
Puddle will alarm, and where installed a solenoid valve will automatically close shutting off
the water supply and minimising any potential damage.
The Puddle is available as an alarm only system or with an automatic shut off valve.
Applications with automatic shut off will have two sperate controls whereas alarm only will
have the one control panel as below only.
Details of each device should be recorded and supplied to you by the system installer.
However, please do not hesitate to contact the office for any information we may hold.

Understanding the controls….
Alarm….
When a water leak has been detected the Puddle will enter alarm mode and any connected
valves will close, shutting off the water supply. This is indicated by a repeated short red flash
and Beep. The number of flashes and beeps indicates the water sensing channel where a
leak has been detected. Multiple alarmed channels will flash and beep sequentially. The
audible alarm is continuous for 1 minute then will repeat every 30 seconds.
Press the white button once: This will completely silence the alarm but flashing will
continue, and any valves will remain closed. Check for leaks and take any appropriate action
required.
Press the white button once again: Red flashing will stop, all alarms will be cleared, and
any valves will open, reinstating the water supply. The Puddle will then flash yellow for 4
minutes whilst the water sensing devices are checked to ensure that the leak has stopped,
and the Puddle unit enters tracking mode, calibrating each water sensing channel. Once
complete the Puddle unit will flash green and be ready for action again.

Power Loss….
The Waterguard Puddle does not have an integrated backup battery. In the event of any
power loss there is no set up or other actions required. Any connected valves will remain in
whichever state it was when power was lost.
Once power is restored, power to the Puddle is indicated by a single white flash and beep.
The unit will then flash yellow as it enters tracking mode for approximately 10 seconds
followed by a green flash, the Puddle will then be ready for action again.
Test Mode….
To test the operation of the Puddle, rapidly press the button 5 times. This will simulate an
alarm on all channels and close the valve.
Pressing the button twice on the 5 Channel Puddle controls will cancel the alarm, reopen the
valve and reset the controls.
False Alarms & Alarm Failures….
The location of each water sensing device is critical to the effective operation of this system.
If any device is located within areas likely to suffer from normal dampness and
condensation, false alarms may occur, and the device will need to be relocated to a usually
dry area such as beneath the bath panel or plant room, depending on the application.
Alarm failures may occur if any water sensing cable or tape is positioned too close to mains
cables. It is critical to ensure that any water sensing cable or tape is positioned at least
20cm away from any mains cables.
Water sensing tape heavily contaminated with dirt or sawdust for example, will cause alarm
failure and must be replaced. Any tape which may have been stood on or has been placed
under heavy items will also require replacement.

functioning correctly, please call our friendly customer service team on 01226 244200.
