7. INSTALLATION
71 Safety instructions for installation
ÎCheck the information provided in these operating instructions and the label on the
WEH® Product. The information must conform to your application.
ÎOnly connect the WEH®Product to faultless connections.
ÎCheck the WEH®Product for transport damages, contamination and other damage. If
you should detect anything wrong with the WEH®Product, it may no longer be used.
Replace the WEH®Product or send it to WEH for maintenance.
ÎRemove transport securing devices (such as protection caps) before installing the
WEH®Product. Transport securing devices serve the purpose of protecting the
product and connection ports during transport and storage. The transport securing
devices are not, for example, designed to withstand pressure or to be used as plugs.
ÎEnsure that the system is depressurized. Installation must only be effected in
depressurized condition.
ÎAvoid using excessively short media lines and narrow bending radii. Lateral forces
may cause leakages or damage to components and make it more difficult to attach
the WEH®Connector properly.
ÎThe WEH®Product is mounted between two pipe ends.
Attention: Observe the direction of the flow – the flow direction is marked on the
product.
ÎSelect the operating pressure so that any pressure peaks that occur do not exceed
the maximum permissible operating pressure of the products.
ÎProtect valves and pipelines used at temperatures above 50°C with insulation or
mark them with a warning sign.
ÎDo not vent flammable, toxic, corrosive or other hazardous materials into a room.
- Inert gases vented into a room can be hazardous to health.
Ensure that there is adequate ventilation.
- Oxygen vented into a room endangers health and can cause property damage if it
accumulates in the room air. Oxygen has an oxidizing effect and can lead to increased
combustion processes if the air content is increased!
Ensure that there is adequate ventilation.
- Secure the system outlets when pressurizing the system for the first time so that
no medium can escape uncontrolled!

but it must be depressurized.
ÎOnly use original WEH®Spare parts. These are exactly suited to the intended applica-
tion and subject to strict quality controls.
ÎDo not damage sealing surfaces or sealing components.
ÎBefore reassembling; check the components, threads and, if present, the sealing
surfaces for damage and contamination. Should you find any damage, replace the
WEH®Product or send it to WEH for maintenance. Stop using the WEH®Product
immediately.
ÎAssemble the WEH®Spare parts absolutely free of oil, grease and dust.
ÎBefore each reassembly, clean the WEH®Product and the corresponding
components by blowing off with oil-free compressed air and remove any adhering
dirt using a damp, soft and lint-free cloth.
Do not use solvents. Use only clean water as cleaning agent.
Attention: Only use oil-free compressed air to blow off the dirt.
Note: Make sure that no cleaning agent enters the gas channel.
ÎObserve the specified tightening torques during maintenance.
ÎClean the wire filter insert (Pos. 3) using only commercially available neutral cleaning
agents and detergents. Please also note:
- Because the main body of the filter is made of brass, the cleaning agent must not
contain ammonia.
- No aggressive substances may be used that could attack the materials in the filter.
- The cleaning agent must leave no residue on the wire mesh filter as this would compro-
mise the flow rate of the medium when the device is put back into operation.
MD-10012-L51-R1.1.0-03 Page 17
Operating instructions AE

ÎAttention: During maintenance or when handling components for oxygen devices,
observe the following points:

- Thoroughly degrease all surfaces in contact with the media using WEH®Degreasing
spray and a lint-free cloth. Before reassembly, all residues of the spray that have not
yet evaporated must be removed.
Caution: Be sure to comply with the above regulations of oxygen products. If you do
not comply with this, there is a risk of oxygen burnout. If you are unable to comply
with these regulations, refrain from maintenance and send the filter to WEH for
maintenance.
92 Note on the cleaning interval of the wire filter insert
- The service life of the wire filter insert (Pos. 3) is primarily dictated by the conditions
of the overall system. Filter inspections should therefore be carried out as occasion
demands.
Any irregularities in the system that may have caused contamination of any kind
will similarly warrant inspection of the filter. Lower flow rates may be indicative of a
contaminated filter.
Depending on the degree of contamination, it may be necessary for the operator to
set a suitable maintenance schedule independently.
To replace the filter, observe the Chapter 9.4.1 Replacing the wire filter insert (Pos. 3)
on page 20.
