4 Regulations for the use of the Slab Grab JUMBO II
Please pay particular attention to the infor ation concerning the use of the achine.

This unit, respectively achine is especially conceived for one or several application fields.
The following chapter explains the possible applications and the possible dangers during the operation.
4.1 Field of Application of the Slab Grab JUMBO II
You have purchased a quality product of WEHA-Ludwig Werwein G bH.
The Slab Grab JUMBO II is a helping device, to facilitate the easy transposing of stone blocks, and to assist you within your work area.
Please note the following special characteristics:
Si ple and quick transposing of stone blocks
Extre ely large gripping width fro 500 to 1.000
Very handy and light weight, with s all di ensions and galvanized upper surfaces
High lifting load fro axi u of 1.500 kg
4.2 Inappropriate Application
The Slab Grab JUMBO II is to be used exclusively for transposing stone blocks with a axi u weight of 1500 kg.
Utilize the Slab Grab JUMBO II exclusively for the proposed purpose and avoid aterials which could da age individual
co ponents of the achine!
The Slab Grab JUMBO II is co plete and specifically designed for the proposed application!
It is not per itted to insert a device or an object between the stone block and the rubber cla ps
The Slab Grab JUMBO II ay not be used to retrieve any stone blocks fro a pile.
The Slab Grab JUMBO II ay only be used when transposing one stone block at a ti e.
The Slab Grab JUMBO II ay only be hooked onto a suitable safety hook of a lifting device.

4.3 Safety Regulations
Please read completely these operating instructions before using the Slab Grab JUMBO II!
Keep the operating instructions carefully in the pro imity of the Slab Grab JUMBO II for future reference when in doubt!
Unconventional changes or installing of additional devices will lead to the cancellation of any liability by the dealer or
manufacturer!
Remove all articles from the work area, which can be a possible source of danger!
Only authorized persons may use the Slab Grab JUMBO II. Each user must have read and understood this
documentation.
Before each use, check the basic parts and welding seams for damages! In case of defects do not use the Slab Grab
JUMBO II. The use by an unauthorized third party must be prevented by suitable measures!
Utilize e clusively the Crane Eye Hook as carrying grip in order to avoid injuries in the scissor area of the Slab Grab
JUMBO II.
Only one stone block may be transported at one time.
Make certain that the carrying surface where the stone block will be laid down will be adequate.
Make certain that the surfaces of the stone block in the contact area with the Slab Grab JUMBO II are dry, free of wa , oil,
dust and sand.
It is not permitted to transport washed stone blocks with the Slab Grab JUMBO II..
The points of contact of the rubber clamping jaws must be completely gripping on the stone block and further the stone
block in this lifting area be level.
Make certain that the Slab Grab JUMBO II is positioned at the center of gravity! When off balanced (uneven), the Slab
Grab JUMBO II must be adjusted accordingly!
E cessive swinging or shaking of the lifted load is not permitted!!
Standing under suspended load is forbidden!
Jerks and jolts during the lifting and lowering of the stone block with the Slab Grab JUMBO II is not permissable!
Maintain a clean working area and provide for adequate lighting
Protective work clothing in accordance with prevailing instructions are to be used when operating the Slab Grab!
Among other items belong the following:
Protective Work Gloves in acordance with current safety measures to prevent accidents!
Protective Work Safety Shoes in accordance with the current safety measures to prevent accidents!
Use only suitable work pieces e clusively suitable for this Slab Grab. Do not lift slabs liable to crack or break during work!
(“sound stone plates”).
Do not lift objects which are too small or too heavy!
Check to ensure during use that no one is in the pro imity of the Slab Grab JUMBO II, in order to avoid danger to a third
party!!
Check and make certain that all parts are correctly mounted!
In case damages or malfunctions of the machine arise, please contact the dealer or manufacturer immediately!
Protect the machine against environmental factors, e.g. rain, sunrays, humidity, etc.!
In case of irreparable damage or other reasons which prevent the further use of the Slab Grab JUMBO II for a long term,
stop operation by making the machine unusable thus making certain there is no danger to other persons!
If disposing of the machine or parts thereof; dismantle and separate the different materials which can be then removed
in accordance with recycling regulations!
4.4 Machine Identification Plate
The identification plate indicates the origin, identity as well as year of
anufacture and, if necessary the axi u carrying capacity
Upon receipt of the goods, please co pare the identification plate with the
data on the first page of the operation instructions. If the data differs fro
each other, please contact i ediately the dealer or the anufacturer.

5 Assembly
Please read carefully the infor ation in the chapter „Asse bly“and adhere to it precisely. The anufacturer or the Co pany WEHA-
Ludwig Werwein G bH will not be held liable for any da age due to incorrect asse bly.
On receipt of the goods, check the supplied co odity for any da ages incurred during transportation and packing! Advise the
Manufacturer/Agent respectively the Transport Co pany i ediately of any da ages!
5.1 Scope of Delivery
Prior to asse bly, please check to see if all necessary parts have been delivered.
Contact i ediately the Dealer or the Manufacturer in the event the consign ent is not co plete.
Scope of Supply consists of:
1 x Slab Grab JUMBO II
1 x Operation and Service Instructions
5.2 Re oving of the Transport Packaging
The Slab Grab JUMBO II is usually delivered in cardboard packaging.
Prior to unpacking, please compare the attached delivery note against the supplied articles!
Remove the transportation packing:
Release the adhesive strips and/or strapping bands and unpack the contents very carefully!
Be careful when unpacking the Slab Grab Ju bo II in order to prevent da ages to the contents!
Strong blows to the building parts of the Slab Grab JUMBO II edges can da age the surface and other sections!
Dispose of the packing waste for recycling in accordance with the local guidelines!
5.3 Asse bly Instructions
The Slab Grab JUMBO II is delivered co pletely asse bled.
A ounting of individual parts is not required.
6 Operating Instructions for the Slab Grab JUMBO II
This Chapter should provide you with infor ation to better understand the Slab Grab JUMBO II. Please read carefully the operating
instructions to obtain opti al service!
Please pay attention that the protective cover of the etal parts will not be da aged by sharp edges!
Any defects, caused by incorrect assembly and operation are not covered under the Warranty by the
dealer respectively the manufacturer!!
Strict attention should be given to the safety regulations stipulated in Chapter 4.3!!
6.1 Preparation of the Slab Grab JUMBO II
Prior to using the Slab Grab JUMBO II it ust be cautiously opened and put on safety position.
Caution! Danger of Injury!

Do not grasp the scissor area of the Slab Grab JUMBO II with the fingers!
There e ists a danger of pinching!

Utilize the Crane Eye Hook [A1] of the Slab Grab JUMBO II as a carrying handle, in
order to prevent the risk of personal injury.
Should the Slab Grab JUMBO II be lifted upwardly, then push it together and pay
attention that the safety device [B1] has been inserted.
The Knob [C1] of the safety device ust be hereby shoved in in the direction of the
arrow.
The Slab Grab JUMBO II is now ready for application.

width
The gripping cla ps are to be adjusted according to the individual easure ents of
the stone blocks.
The Slab Grab JUMBO II can be adjusted to a gripping width of fro 500 up to
1.000 . Pro adjust ent slot hole (adjustable on both sides!) will alter the gripping
width by 100 .
Hereto the individual safety pin [A2] of the adjust ent bolt [B2] is to be firstly
re oved. Now the adjust ent bolt [B2] is to be pulled out.
Now the Slab Grab JUMBO II can be lifted at the Grip and the cla p jaws can be
pushed together or pulled apart. Attention is to be given that the left as well as the
right cla p jaw are identically adjusted. That eans that the bores both left and right
are to be used, and at the sa e distance fro the carrying safety eye hook
Caution! Danger! Attention is to be given that the left as well as
the right clamp jaw are identically adjusted. That means that the
bores both left and right are to be used, and at the same distance
from the carrying safety eye hook
When the desired adjust ents have been concluded, then the adjust ent bolts are once again to be inserted and the safety cotter
pin secured.
6.2 Transporting with the Slab Grab JUMBO II
The Stone Block to be lifted ust be secured against tipping over thereby enabling the Slab Grab JUMBO II to transport the sa e.
The Slab Grab JUMBO II ust be secured at the center of gravity of the stone block.
Make certain that the surfaces of the the contact area of the stone block to be transported with the Slab Grab JUMBO II are dry,
free of wax, oil, dust and sand.
Now lower the Slab Grab JUMBO II on to the Stone Block to be lifted at the center of gravity. Use the available crane eye hook as a
carrying grip.

The Slab Grab JUMBO II crane eye hook is to be used when being lifted by the
safety hook of the hoisting device.
Release the safety device of the Slab Grab JUMBO II by pulling on the Knob [A3].
The safety hook will thereby be disengaged.
The Slab Grab JUMBO II is thereby in the disengaged condition.
The next step is to lift slowly and cautiously the Slab Grab JUMBO II. The
cla ping jaws close and lay on the predeter ined stone block. Should this not be
the case, check if the safety device is disengaged.
Make certain that the utilized lifting device and the hoisting unit provide suitable carrying capacity to cover the total carrying load and
be capable to transport the sa e.
Now raise the Slab Grab JUMBO II with the hoisting device, until such ti e as the stone block is hanging freely. Be careful that the
Slab Grab JUMBO II does not go off balance (uneven) when being lifted. At the sa e ti e the Slab Grab JUMBO II ust be

positioned so that the Slab Grab JUMBO II is not standing slanted after the lifting procedure is acco plished. Stiff jolts are not
per itted!
Caution! Danger
!
Standing or walking under suspended load is prohibited!
Now the Stone Block can be raised up to the suitable transporting position. During lifting avoid at all costs any stiff jolts!
During transporting no shocks are per itted and at the sa e ti e the Stone Block ay not swing. Other than this, the Stone Block
ust be secured accordingly and a suitable path of travel ust be pre-selected!
Make certain that the ground surface on which the Stone Block is to be deposited possesses adequate carrying strength!
Caution! Danger
!
As soon as the Stone Block is laying on the surface foundation, the Grab Slab JU BO II begins to open!
The Stone Block could at the same time fall over! The Stone Block must be secured against falling over
before hand!
It is therefore essential that the Stone Block when being lowered will be secured against falling down. As soon as the Stone Block
is situated on the ground, the Slab Grab JUMBO II begins to open si ultaneously! A jolting lowering process is not per issible!
The Grab Slab JUMBO II is to be lowered co pletely and the safety device is to be once again inserted!
The Slab Grab JUMBO II is now secured and can be raised cautiously in the upward direction with the hoisting device.
7 aintenance
The Slab Grab JUMBO II requires regular aintenance.
The Slab Grab JU BO II is a load suspension device! The Contractor, who implements the Slab Grab
JU BO II; must ensure that the Slab Grab JU BO II is to be tested in yearly intervals through an expert
duly qualified to carry out such a test! (§ 23, Abs. 2, BGV D6)
The next Test Schedule for the Slab Grab JU BO II is indicated on the yellow label „Next Testing
Date“(e.g. April 2004).
Repairs and welding (Danger of poisoning!) may only be carried out by persons who have the
necessary knowledge and abilities to perform the same.
