Dear Wellion LUNA duo owner,
Thank you for choosing the Wellion LUNA duo Multi-Monitoring System. We designed
the Wellion LUNA duo Blood glucose and cholesterol measuring system to be accurate
and easy to use.
The Wellion LUNA duo blood glucose and total cholesterol measuring system provides
you with accurate, plasma-calibrated results based on electrochemical sensor tech-
nology. This system includes blood glucose and total cholesterol level tests, precisely
measured in just a few seconds.
The Wellion LUNA duo blood glucose and total cholesterol measuring system is de-
signed to measure the blood glucose or total cholesterol levels in whole blood. The
test strips are for self-testing outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use). It should be
used only for testing glucose or total cholesterol with fresh capillary blood samples.
The system is suitable for users to monitor their blood glucose or total cholesterol at
home by themselves and be used for clinical sites by healthcare professionals.
Please carefully read the instructions in this user’s manual and become familiar with
the test procedures before using the system to test blood glucose or total cholesterol
levels. Users should consult with a healthcare professional before making important
medical decisions.

SETTING UP THE METER
Installing/Replacing the Battery
The battery is already loaded in the meter. Only use a 3V lithium battery. Do not use or
replace the battery with dierent types of batteries which will damage the electronics
of the meter.
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Insert a new battery into the battery socket with the “+” side facing up.
3. Replace the battery cover onto the meter.
NOTE:
• The current date and time information will be memorized by the meter for approxi-
mately 1 minute. If the batteries are inserted after 1 minute, the meter may prompt
you to verify the current date and time.
• The stored results and settings will not be erased when the batteries are being
changed.

Set the Date and Time
Press and hold the OK button for more than two seconds. The meter will sound one
beep and enter the setting mode.
The available settings are as follows:
1. When the meter enters setting mode, the rst item on the screen will be the year.
2. Press the Memory button to advance one year at a time until you get the correct
year.
3. After you set the desired year, press the OK button and then the meter will enter into
the month setting.
4. Press the Memory button until the correct month appears.
5. Press the OK button, and the meter will enter into the day setting.
6. Press the Memory button until the correct day appears.
7. Press the OK button, and the meter will enter into the hour setting.

8. Press the Memory button until the correct hour appears.
9. The hour shows in Am, Pm.
10. Press the OK button, and the meter will enter into the minute setting.
11. Press the Memory button until the correct minute appears.
12. Press the OK button to complete the meter setting.
The meter will then turn o automatically after a long beep.
NOTE:
• Setting the correct time and date is important if you want to download the results
to a PC or if you want to use the meter memory.

Coding the Meter (Only for testing total cholesterol)
The Wellion LUNA duo meter should be coded before testing with LUNA total cho-
lesterol test strips for the rst time, or every time you open a new box of LUNA total
cholesterol test strips. There are two kinds of test strips which can be used with the
Wellion LUNA duo meter; glucose test strips and total cholesterol test strips. Only total
cholesterol test strips require the code strip in order to calibrate the meter. It is not
necessary to code the meter for glucose test strips.
1. Fully insert the contact bar of the code chip into the test port of the meter, with the
labelled side of the chip facing upwards. Wait for the code number to appear on the
screen.
2. Make sure the code number and test mode appearing on the screen match the code
number and test mode marked on the test strip vial.
3. Remove the code strip by sliding down the strip ejector. “J” should appear on the
screen, indicating that the meter has been successfully coded for a total cholesterol test.
Cautions:
If “E-E” appears on the screen during the coding procedure, there may be a problem
with the code strip or the code strip may not have been inserted correctly. Perform
the coding procedure again, and if “E-E” continues to appear, please contact your local
distributor.

CONTROL SOLUTION TEST
The control solution is used to check the performance of the Wellion LUNA duo blood
glucose and total cholesterol measuring system. The system and strips perform ade-
quately if the control test result falls within the indicated control range listed on the
test strip vial.
Use only the Wellion LUNA Control Solutions with the Wellion LUNA Test Strips. Other
brands of control solution will produce inaccurate results.
The system should be checked:
• When you get your meter for the rst time or start using a new box of test strips.
• When you suspect that the meter or the test strips are not working properly.
• Any time you get unexpected test results.
• If you drop the meter.
• If you want to check that your testing procedure is correct.
1. Fully insert the contact bar of the test strip into the test port of the meter, with the
labelled side of the strip facing upwards. Do not bend the test strip.
The respective test mode will be shown on the screen depending on which test strip
you‘re using. After the strip has been inserted, the blood drop icon will blink on the
screen which means the system is ready for blood to be applied to the strip.

2. Glucose test mode: You can proceed without checking any codes.
Total cholesterol test mode: Be careful to make sure the code number matches with
the number marked on the test strip vial.
3. Shake the Wellion LUNA control solution vial vigorously before each test, then open
the cap, turn the bottle upside down and squeeze gently. Wipe away the rst 3 drops
of solution using a tissue.
4. Squeeze the bottle again to obtain another drop of solution and touch the edge of
the test strip to the drop of solution. The control solution will be automatically drawn
up the test strip into the reaction area.
5. For glucose testing, you can stop the sample loading after hearing a “beep” sound.
If “E-8“ is displayed on the screen that means the volume of sample is insucient.
Please remove the strip and repeat the test procedure using a new glucose test strip.
6. For total cholesterol testing, be sure to load the sample until it lls up the reaction
zone and you hear a“beep”sound.
7. The measurement will start automatically, as soon as enough control solution is in
the reaction area.

8. After counting down, the screen will display the control solution test result. Com-
pare the test result with the control range listed on the test strip vial. Each vial of test
strips may have a slightly dierent control solution range.
If the results you get are not within the range specied on the vial label, you should
repeat the test using a new test strip. If the problem persists with a new test strip, then
please contact your local distributor.
Out of range results may be due to:
• not following the directions described above.
• using an expired or damaged test strip.
• using expired or contaminated control solution.
• a problem with the meter.
WARNING:
• If the test mode on the meter screen does not match with the test strip that you
apply, please remove it and reload the strip again. If it still does not match, please
try a new test strip. If the problem persists with a new test strip, then please contact
your local distributor.

NOTE:
• Please read this manual and the directions for control solution testing carefully be-
fore using the meter.
• Do not reuse the Wellion LUNA test strip and ensure you always close the vial cap
immediately after removing a test strip.
• Discard the rst 3 drops of control solution and shake the vial vigorously prior to
the control solution measurement.
• Record the“date opened“ on the test strip bottle label when you rst open it.
• If the results you get are not within the range, repeat the control solution test. If
control solution results continue to fall outside the expected range, contact your
local distributor.

HOW TO PERFORM A TEST
Every time you turn on the meter, it will perform a system check automatically.
Preparing the lancing device
1. Unscrew and remove the adjustable cap of the lancing device
and insert a lancet by pushing down rmly until it is fully seated.
2. Twist the protective cover o from the lancet and replace the
adjustable cap onto the lancing device.
3. Adjust the puncture setting on the adjustable cap for the re-
quired puncture depth level (1 is the lightest and 10 is the deepest).

4. With one hand holding the lancing device, pull back the
cocking handle with your other hand until you hear a click
sound and the lancing device is ready.
The release button should now be coloured red, so you can
easily verify if the lancing device is ready for blood sampling.
If the release button is not coloured red, pull the cocking
handle again until the release button changes to red.
IMPORTANT:
• Use a new sterile lancet every time you test to avoid cross contamination. If alcohol
wipes are used to cleanse the ngers, make sure the area is dry before the blood
sample is obtained.
• Each measurement must be performed within 3 minutes, otherwise the meter will
turn o automatically. Please remove and re-insert the test strip before applying
blood to the test strip.
• Lancets and test strips cannot be reused.
• For comfortable and safe blood sampling, use a Wellion lancet.
