SAW BLADE SAFETY WARNINGS
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
• For use only with table saws.
• Always use proper eye, hearing, and respiratory protection.
• Wear proper apparel. Do not wear loose clothing, gloves, neckties, rings, bracelets, or other jewelry that could
get caught in moving parts. Nonslip footwear is recommended. Tie back long hair.
• Turn the machine off and disconnect it from the power source before installing or removing accessories or
blades, before adjusting or changing setups, or when making repairs or performing maintenance.
• Before cutting, turn the dado stack by hand to make sure there are no obstructions. The blade tips are sharp; be
careful not to cut yourself.
• Always work up to the required depth of cut in small increments. This will increase blade life and the quality of
the cut, as well as help prevent kickback.
• Do not cut completely through the workpiece when using a dado stack. Separated pieces may be thrown.
• Avoid kickback. Never cut a workpiece that is twisted or warped, or does not have a straight edge to guide it
along the saw’s fence.
• Never use chippers alone; binding and kickback will result. Always use the dado stack with both outer blades
installed properly.
NOTE: The outside arbor flange on your table saw cannot be used with the dado stack. Tighten the arbor nut
against the dado stack’s outer blade. Do not lose the outer arbor flange; it will be needed when reattaching a
standard saw blade. Consult your table saw’s owner’s manual for more information.
OPERATION
USING A TABLE SAW AND DADO STACK
• A dedicated table insert must be used with the dado stack, rather than the standard table insert.
• Make sure the workpiece is properly supported to prevent contact with the blades after cutting is completed.
WARNING! The blade guard and splitter assembly (or riving knife) cannot be used when dadoing. It must
be removed. Auxiliary jigs, fixtures, push sticks, and feather boards should be used for maximum control.
Always re-install the blade guard and/or riving knife after cutting is complete.
Never use the dado stack in a beveled position.
Never use the dado stack on a saw that will exceed the rated blade speed (7000 RPM).
OPERATION
USING A TABLE SAW AND DADO STACK (CONT.)
1. Install the dado table insert on your saw. Remove the blade guard
and/or riving knife as instructed above.
2. Install the outer blades with the printed side facing outwards. The
blade teeth should point to the outside as well (Fig. 1).
3. Install the chippers between the outer blades. Use the spacers
to adjust the width of the stack as needed. Calculate the number of
chippers and/or spacers required to give the desired dado width.
See the chart in the back of the manual for the different blade
combinations required for your desired Dado width.
4. Secure the stack with the saw’s arbor nut. Adjust the saw height
appropriately. Work up to the finished depth in small increments to
give the best cut quality and prolong the blades’ life.
TIPS:
• Make sure the teeth of adjacent blades (for example, an outer blade
and a chipper) are not aligned (Fig. 2). This will reduce load on the
saw motor and improve the quality of the cut.
• Offset the chippers’ teeth by 45 degrees (model BL088D) or 90
degrees (model BL067D). This will reduce load on the saw motor
and improve the quality of the cut.
• If using multiple spacers, distribute them evenly between the
chippers and/or outer blades.
