1. Product Description
1.1 Introduction
Westlab’s 22L Incubator offers rapid heating and a temperature control range from
Ambient -15°C to 60°C.
The incubator’s internal power outlet allows for a small shaker, mixer, or another small
unit to be plugged inside the unit. Designed to deliver quality results, the incubator is
suitable for up to 80 x 90mm petri dishes and accepts a variety of asks up to 2L.
1.2 Intended Use
Intended for temperature control and homogeneous controlled environments required
for cell culture or for the incubation of biological and non-biological samples.
Note that the incubator cools based on the ambient temperature of the room. It is not
designed to be used outside in the heat as it will not maintain the temperature in the
chamber. The incubator is ideally operated indoors in a cool room.

3. Safety Precautions
Read the following safety precautions prior to using the incubator. Never use the unit in
any manner not specied in this manual.
• Wear personal protective equipment during the operation of the unit.
• Always install the unit on a at, stable, and non-slippery surface.
• Always unplug the power adaptor before cleaning or moving the unit.
• Never touch moving parts. Do not move the unit during operation.
• The unit is not to be operated in a hazardous, explosive, or ammable environment
and not to be used to mix explosive or highly reactive material. Do not use the unit
under water.
• Do not use the incubator if it shows signs of electrical of mechanical damage.
If any damage is found, contact your supplier immediately.
• Ensure that the attachments are secured properly prior to operation.
• Connect only to a power supply with the corresponding voltage to that specied
on the rating label positioned on the rear of the unit.
• Ensure that the power cord is placed in a position where it will not be walked on
or damaged.
• Do not overload the power outlets by plugging too many units into the same socket.
• Unplug the incubator when not in use for an extended period of time.
• Do not store inammable or volatile substances inside the unit, touch live parts of
the unit, operate the incubator with damp hands, place vessels containing uid on
the unit, climb or place any objects on the top of the unit.
• Do not use without appropriate training. Always follow the installation instructions.

The safety of the user cannot be guaranteed if the unit:
• Is operated with accessories that are not supplied with the unit
• Is operated with accessories that are not supplied or recommended by
the manufacturer
• Is operated improperly or contrary to the manufacturer’s specications
4. Maintenance & Cleaning
• Always unplug the power adaptor before cleaning the unit.
• Wear protective gloves and safety glasses while cleaning the unit.
• Excessive amounts of liquid should be avoided. Liquids must not contact the motor.
• After cleaning, ensure that all the parts are dried.
• Leave the door open to avoid smells.
• If repairs are performed by unauthorised personnel, the product warranty may
become void.
ATTENTION: Ensure that the washing agent and sanitising agent are BSI accredited
and approved by the H&S departments for use on laboratory equipment within your
laboratory.
Cleaning the exterior of the incubator
• The housing and control panel should be cleaned at least once a week, depending on
working conditions, using a small quantity of mild detergent applied with a soft cloth.
• The electrical parts should not be in contact with water or detergent.
Cleaning the interior of the incubator
• The chamber should be emptied of any samples prior to cleaning.
• Only water or a mild detergent should be applied with a soft cloth.
• Allow the unit to fully dry before retting all the accessories.
• The electrical parts should not be in contact with water or detergent.
When the incubator is not in use
• Remove all objects from the chamber.
• Disconnect the incubator from the main power supply.
• Clean and dry the chamber.

5. Installation
1. Open the packaging and gently remove the incubator from the box.
2. Place the unit gently onto a rm and levelled surface.
3. Unpack every individual component.
4. Assemble the components as instructed in this manual for optimal performance.
ATTENTION: The manual should be kept with the device and all the packaging should
be kept in safe storage for at least two years for warranty purposes.
Location and mounting
Place the incubator on a at, solid, and levelled surface in a dry, airy environment.
Ensure that all four feet stand on the surface rmly. Avoid installing on a slippery
surface or a bench prone to vibration.
• Do not place the unit in direct sunlight.
• Keep a minimum clearance of 130mm from all directions to guarantee
safe operation.
• Keep the unit away from heat or water to avoid sample temperature errors.
• Do not place the incubator in an area that makes it dicult to operate the unit.
• Do not lift using the door or door handle.
• Do not touch any electrical contacts or open any closure panels. Failure to comply
may result in electric shock.
• Check that the electrical supply is compatible with the rating label. If in doubt,
consult an electrician! Where the mains supply or plug connection differs,
refer to local regulations or consult an electrician.
• The unit has not been designed to operate in highly dusty environments.
• The unit must not be built in.
ATTENTION: During the rst few days of use, it is normal for odours to persist as
the components are commissioned. Use the unit in a well-ventilated area.
Position the incubator and allow it to stand for two to three hours [ten hours in
summer] before it is turned on for the rst time to allow for the system to settle.
A clearance of 130mm must be left between the sides of the incubator and any
adjacent cabinets or walls to allows for adequate air circulation. The unit is not
designed for recessed installation meaning that it should not be built-in to the wall.

6. Operation
1. Open the front of the incubator and place the samples inside.
2. Plug the adaptor into the machine and then insert the electric plug into
the wall socket.
3. Turn the power switch to ‘ON’ or ‘COOL’.
4. Set the desired temperature ranging from ambient minus 15°C to 60°C.
5. The temperature can be selected by pressing the ‘UP’ for increment and
‘DOWN’ for decrement. The changed value will be saved automatically.
7. Product Recycling
In the case that the product is to be disposed of, the relevant legal regulations are to
be observed.
