1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS – carefully and become familiar with the features and functions of these
products before operating them.
2. RETAIN THESE INSTRUCTIONS – for future reference.
3. COMPLY WITH ALL WARNINGS – All warnings and instructions for this product should be adhered to.
4. USE WITH AMPLIFIERS – In order to avoid damage to drivers and other equipment, it is advisable to
establish and follow a routine for powering up and powering down a sound system. With all system
components connected, turn on source equipment (mixers, signal processors, record and playback
units, etc.) BEFORE powering up amplifiers. Transient voltages from powering up source equipment
can damage speakers if amplifiers are already turned on. Make sure that amplifier volumes are
set to their minimum settings and power up any system amplifiers LAST. It is recommended that
all system components be allowed to stabilize for several seconds before any source signals are
introduced or level setting adjustments are made. Similarly, when shutting systems down, turn all
amplifiers off first, before powering down any other system components.
5. CABLES – Do not use shielded or microphone cables for connection between amplifiers and
speakers. Use only approved speaker cables with proper connectors.
6. RIGGING SUSPENDING MOUNTING – Rigging, suspending and mounting of these speaker
systems can expose members of the public to serious health risks and even death. UNDER NO
CIRCUMSTANCES ATTEMPT TO RIG, SUSPEND OR OTHERWISE MOUNT THESE SPEAKERS UNLESS
YOU ARE FULLY QUALIFIED AND CERTIFIED TO DO SO BY RELEVANT LOCAL, STATE AND
NATIONAL AUTHORITIES. ALL RELEVANT SAFETY REGULATIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED. IF YOU ARE
NOT PROPERLY QUALIFIED OR DO NOT KNOW OF PERTINENT REGULATIONS, CONSULT QUALIFIED
PERSONNEL FOR ADVICE.
7. CAUTION – These professional loudspeaker systems are capable of generating very high sound
pressure levels. Use care with placement and operation to avoid exposure to excessive volume levels.
Permanent hearing damage can result when operated to extreme levels.
8. SERVICE – There are no user serviceable parts inside this product. Users should not attempt to
service this product. Warranty nullification could result if this is attempted.

Wharfedale Pro's MX Series of high-performance passive loudspeakers complement many
portable and high-end club system applications. Available in single, dual-woofer, and
subwoofer configurations, the MX Series delivers extreme accuracy at high sound pressure
levels, while retaining a very natural sound. Incorporating advanced high-efficiency
Wharfedale Pro drivers, rugged construction and versatile mounting options, the MX Series
provide a smart and affordable choice for high quality, professional speaker systems.
MX Series Two Way Loudspeakers: All MX Series two-way loudspeaker enclosures offer M-10
rigging points for easy array setups. Constructed using 18mm birch plywood, the MX Series
is meticulously designed for superior acoustics and durability. The integral carrying handles
make for easy transport. Hookup is simple with integrated industry standard NL-4 Speakon
type connectors. Aluminium cast frame and oversize voice coils mean sustained high power
output capacity and minimal power compression. Conical Waveguide Technology coupled
with a 50mm titanium compression driver provide a dispersion pattern of 75 x 75 allowing
for even coverage, especially in the crucial vocal frequency ranges.
MX Series Subwoofers: Wharfedale Pro's MX Series of passive subwoofers are ideal for
adding extended low end to the MX Series two-way loudspeakers or any existing sound
system in need of extended low frequency response. All MX Series subwoofers feature
proprietary 18 Wharfedale Pro Drivers and durable 13 ply birch plywood construction.
• Custom high-efficiency Wharfedale Pro full-range drivers.
• 50mm Titanium compression driver with Conical Waveguide Technology.
• Sophisticated crossover design enables smooth power and frequency response
• Protective steel grille with reflective plating.
• Pole-mount socket (MX-112, MX-115, MX-118B, MX-F18B).
(The MX-F18B also features four castors for easy roll in and set up).
• PRO-TECH integrated High-Frequency Driver Overload Protection.
• FULL-RANGE/BIAMP switch and industry standard NL4 connectors.

(For quick setup of two way enclosures in Full Range mode)
- Make all initial connections with the power switches OFF on all equipment.
- Check that all master volume, level, or gain controls are turned all the way down.
- Connect the line-level outputs from the system mixing console to the inputs of
the system power amplifier.
- Connect the Speaker Output from the power amplifier or powered mixer to the INPUT
connector on the MX Series two-way speakers with appropriate speaker cables.
- Turn on the mixing console (or other signal source).
- With the level controls all the way down, turn on the amplifier.
- Send a signal source through the mixer, such as a microphone or instrument. Gradually
adjust the volume controls on the mixer and amplifier accordingly.

MX Series Two Way Connector Plate
FULL RANGE connections
FULL RANGE wiring connections from the output of the amplifier to the MX loudspeaker are
made via NL4-type connectors located on the rear mounted input plate on each MX Series
model.
Connector pin wiring is configured as follows:
1+ = Positive
1 - = Negative

Parallel connections to additional
cabinets will result in decreased
impedance loads on the amplifier.
To prevent amplifier damage, be
aware of cabinet impedances and
the limitations of the amplifier in
use before connecting additional
speaker cabinets . Two 8-ohm
speaker cabinets connected in
parallel provide a 4-ohm load to
the amplifier. Four 8-ohm speaker
cabinets provide a 2-ohm load to
the amplifier, which can be too low
for some amplifiers and can result
in decreased performance and
overheating of the amplifier.
Using multiple enclosures wired in parallel
PARALLEL CONNECTION WIRING
Bi-Amplication / Tri-Amplication
The MX Series two way speakers feature a selectable bi-amp mode (two separate amplifier
channels for low frequency and high frequency signals to the woofer and high frequency
driver of each speaker enclosure). This requires an external active crossover network to
provide a low and high frequency line level output to dedicated low and high frequency
amplifiers for proper processing of the low/high frequency portions of the audio signal. Use
with a separate subwoofer will allow for system tri-amp applications (Separate amplifier
channels for low frequency signals to the subwoofer(s), with separate mid-range frequency
and high frequency amp channels for the mid range drivers and high frequency drivers of
each two way speaker enclosure).
To obtain the best sounding setting for the performance environment and related mid range
and high frequency speakers, consult the manufacturer's operating instructions for the
active crossover and amplifiers that are in use.
