Understanding your responsibilities
•Never operate the dryerif:
-it is notworking right(i.e. noisy,
too hot).
-it is damaged.
-pads are missing(i.e. door latch).
-all panels are not in place.
-the lintscreen isloose, damaged or
missing.
•Unplugthe power supplycord orturnoff
electrical power beforeattemptingto
service your dryer. Shut offgas valve if
you have a gas dryer.
•Do notwash or dry itemsthat are soiled
with vegetable or cookingoil.These items
may containsome oilafter laundering.
Due tothe remainingoil,the fabric may
smoke or catchfire by itself.
•Store flammable solventsor fluids away
from yourdryer.
•Dry cleaningsolventsor fluidsshould
never be putdirectlyintoyourdryer.
•Be sure that yourdryer:
-is properlyinstalledand leveled on a
floor that can supportthe weightin a
well-ventilatedroom.*
-is connected tothe properoutletand
electrical supply.*
-is properlyconnectedto fuel and
exhaust systems (gas dryersmust be
vented outdoors).*
-is not installedagainstdraperies or
curtains, or on carpet.*
-is locatedin an area where thetempera-

Before starting your dryer

Starting or stopping your dryer
Starting your dryer
Close the door and select acycleand tem-
perature. See pages 7-16 for additionalsetting
information.Your dryerautomaticallystops
when a cycleends.
Stopping and restarting your
dryer
Open thedryer dooror turn the Cycle Control
Knobto OFF. Closethe door; make new
selections(if necessary). Pushthe Start
Button.
NOTE: The Cycle Control Knobshould pointto
an OFF area when the dryer is not in use. If
the dryerisstopped before the cycleis
finished, turnthe Cycle ControlKnobto an
OFF area.
End of cycle signal
(on some models)
The dryersounds a signalto letyou know
when the cycle isfinished. The signal is not
adjustable, but can be turnedoff (on some
models), ifyour modelhas an End ofCycle
signalselector, see page 11.
The signal ishelpfulwhen you are drying
permanent press, syntheticsand other itemsthat
shouldbe taken out as soonas the dryerstops.

You willfindinformationyou need to make
correctcycle, time, and temperature decisions
in this section.
• Pages 7 to 11: Use these pages tofind

controlpanel similarto yours. Use the
informationon this page to guideyou when
makingdryingselections.

If your dryer has a Cycle Control Knob with
temperatures built-In:
1. Select a cyclebyturningthe Cycle Control
Knob eitherway to a desired timeor setting.
2, Stop when the indicatoron the knob'souter
ringpointsto the cycleand temperature you
want.
3. Push the Start Button.

If your dryer has a Cycle Control Knob and
e Temperature Selector:
Match your dryingtemperature to the type of
fabricbeing dried.Your dryerhas a knob, push

Using the automatic cycles
Your DRY-MISEFP control senses the dryness
of the load and automatically shutsoffwhen the
selected drynessisreached, Forthe first few
loads:
1. Set the Cycle Control Knobto pointtothe
center mark inyour automaticcycle.
2. Select a heat settingto matchyour load,
3. Push the Start Button,The Cycle Control
Knobwill not move untilthe loadisalmost
dry or thecool-down portionofthe cycle
has been reached. After the cooldown is
complete, the Cycle Control Knobautomati-
cally movesto an OFF area and the

Automatic DRY-MISER control
(onsomemodels)
The automatic DRY-MISER controlusesa
thermostatthatsenses the dryer'sair tempera-
ture. The dryer automaticallyshutsoffwhen
the selected dryness isreached.
Electronic DRY-MISER control
(on,,omomodal=)
The electronic DRY-MISER controluses an
electronicsensor that determinesthe amount
of moisture inthe clothes.The dryer automati-
cally shuts offwhen the selected drynessis
reached.

Using the Air cycle (no heat)
Fire Hazard
Do not dry plasticor rubberitemswith
heat. Use theAir cycle, or linedry.
Failureto do so couldresultin fire or
damaged items.
The dryerdoes not heatwhen the Cycle
ControlKnob isset in the Aircycle. This cycle
can be used to fluffor sirdry bedding,plastic
tablecloths,foam rubberpillows,stuffedtoys,
sneakers, etc.
1. Tum the Cycle Control Knobto the number
of minutesyou want in the Aircycle. (If your
dryerhas a temperature selector, no
temperature needs to be selected. Cycle is
unheated.) Refer to the chart below for
suggested times.
2. Push the Start Button.
NOTE: Repeat steps above ifmore time is
needed to dry items.

Using the Timed Drying cycle
Usa the Timed Drying cyclefor any load you
want to dry bytime. Thiscycle isdesignedfor
small loadsor large bulkyitems.
• Turn theCycle Control Knobtothe number
ofminutesyou want in the Timed Drying
cycle. (Ifyour model hasa Temperature
Selector, set the Temperature Selector tothe
desired setting.)
• Fora damp dry,turnthe Cycle ControlKnob
to 30 minutesor less. (If yourdryer hasa
Damp Dry cycle, see page 10.)
The last few minutesofthis cycle are without
heat to help make the loadeasier to handle.

Using the TUMBLE PRESS ® cycle
(on some models)
This cycle removes wrinkles from clothing that has
been packed in a suitcase or closet, and from items
not removed from the dryer at the end of a cycle.
1. Set the Cycle Control Knob on TUMBLE
PRESS. (If your model has a Temperature
Selector, set the Temperature Selector to a
high setting.)
2. Push the Start Button.
The last few minutes of this cycle are without
heat to help make the load easier to handle. Put
only a few items in your dryer for best results
when using this cycle. As soon as the dryer
stops, fold or put the items on hangers.
Using the Damp Dry cycle
(on some models)
Use this setting to dry damp items that do not
require an entire drying cycle, or to dry items to
damp level. Two examples are heavy cottons, such
as jeans, which you do not want to become stiff, or
cotton clothes which are easier to press when
damp.
1. Set the Cycle Control Knob on DAMP DRY (If
your model has a Temperature Selector, set
the Temperature Selector to a high setting.)
2. Push the Start Button.
The last few minutesof thiscycleare without
heat to help make the loadeasier to handle.
Understanding the
FINISH GUARD e cycle
(on some models)
When you are unable to remove a load from the
dryer as soon as it stops, wrinkles can term.
When using your automatic cycle, the FINISH
GUARD cycle tumbles the load a few seconds
without heat every few minutes for up to 45
minutes. This tumbling rearranges and fluffs the
load to help avoid wrinkles that set in when the
load remains in the dryer.
You do not have to set the Cycle Control Knob
to the FINISH GUARD cycle. The FINISH
GUARD cycle takes over automatically to protect
the load if you do not open the door within a few
minutes after the automatic cycle ends.
A signal will sound every few minutes during
the FINISH GUARD cycle. The signal will stop
when the dryer door is opened. (If your model
has a FINISH GUARD cycle On/Off Selector, see
page 11.)
