setsaremanufacturedandmarketedbyWhisperPower.
Itisimportanttoreadthismanualbeforeinstallingandoperang
thegenerangset.Bothsafetyanddurabilityrelyverymuchon
thecorrectidencaon,installaonandagoodunderstanding
ofrangs,features,design,maintenanceandoperaonproce-
dures.
Theinformaon,specicaons,illustraonsandstatementscon-
tainedwithinthispublicaonaregivenwithourbestintenons
andarebelievedtobecorrectatthemeofgoingtopress.

tothedireconsinthismanual.Forserviceandmaintenance
onecanappealtothemanufacturerorthedealers.
1.3 Guarantee
WhisperPowerguaranteesthatthisgenerangsethasbeen
builtaccordingtogoodworkmanship,accordingtothespec-
icaonsinthismanualandaccordingtoEuropeanCommu-
nitysafetyregulaons.
Duringproduconandpriortodelivery,allofourgenerang
setsaretestedandinspected.
Thisgenerangset’scorrectoperaonissubjecttoguar-
antee.Theperiodandcondionsofthisguaranteearelaid
downinthegeneralcondionsofdeliveryasregisteredwith
theChamberofCommerceandIndustriesfortheNorthof
theNetherlandsnumber01120025.Theguaranteeperiod
istwoyears,limitedto1000runninghours.Someaspectsof
ourguaranteeschemearegivenhereinmoredetail:
Guaranteedoesnotcoverfailuresthatarecausedbymisuse,
neglectorafaultyinstallaon.
Example 1. Faulty installaon:
Seawaterenteringtheengineisthemostcommoncauseof
damagetocombusonenginesinboats.(Bothtopropulsion
andgeneratorengines.)Theentryofwatermustbeavoided
underallcondions.Beawarethatthecondionsinblue
watersailingcanbeextreme.Seetheinstallaonmanualfor
instruconsbutremembertheseareforguidanceonlyas
manyfactorsinuencetheinstallaonofagenerator.Theul-
materesponsibilitywillalwaysbewiththeownertoensure
asafeandcompliantinstallaon.

Damagecausedbytheingressofwaterisnever
coveredbyguarantee.
Example 2: Misuse:
Longtermrunningwithnoloadortoolileloadcancause
theexhausttogetchokedwithsootorcarbon.Cleaningthe
exhaustisnotcoveredbyguarantee.
Example 3: Neglect
Somemesthesealoftherawwaterpumpstartsleaking.
Mostlythisbeginswithaliledripandslowlygetsworse.
Regularvisualinspeconofthegeneratorisnecessaryto
preventdamagetooccurfromaleakingwaterpump.When
onendseriousdamageaerweeksofneglectguarantee
claimswillnotbehonored.
Example 4: Neglect
Whispergeneratorshaveanoponforanautostart/stopmode
orintervalmode.
WhisperPowercannotbeheldresponsiblefordamagecausedby
theunaendedrunninggenerator.

Guaranteemeansthatfaultypartsarerepairedorreplacedfree
ofcharge.Ifnecessarythewholegeneratorunitwillbeex-
changed.Labournecessarytocompleterepairsonboardavessel
executedbyanauthorizedserviceengineeriscovered,butis
limitedtoareasonablenumberofhoursandreasonableratesin
relaontotheactualrepairworkthathastobedone.
Travelexpensesandtravelhoursarenotcovered.Alsonot
coveredisthelabourrequiredtotakeageneratoroutofaboat
orforreinstallaon.Thereisnocoverforlabourneededtoget
accesstothegenerator,forexampletoremoveequipmentor
bulkheads etc.
Goodstobedeliveredunderguaranteewillbeinvoiced.Only
aerthefaultygoodsarereturnedwilltheinvoicebecredited.
Paymentinadvancemayberequiredorguaranteedbycredit
card.Ifaerthefaultygoodsarereturned,itisindicatedthatthe
failurewasnotcoveredbyguaranteeacreditwillnotbeissued.
ForexampleifaPrintedCircuitBoardisreturnedwithcleardam-
agecausedbyseawater,guaranteewillberefused.
Freightcoststodeliversparesbynormalmailorcarriersis
coveredunderguarantee.Specialserviceslikeexpressmail,
overnightdeliveryetc.arenotcovered.Taxesandduesarenot
covered.Forshipmentstoremoteoshoreareasanyaddion-
alcostsincurredovernormalcarriagewillbeinvoicedtothe
customer.
Thecostforreturningfaultygoodsisnotcoveredunderguaran-
tee.
1.4 Liability
WhisperPowerdoesnotacceptresponsibilityfordamage,in-
juriesorcasualeswhicharetheresultofoperaonofthegener-
angsetinspeciccondionswhichbringsdangerswhichcould
notbeforeseen,orcouldbeavoidedbyaddionalmeasures.
WhisperPowerdoesnotacceptliabilityfordamageduetouse
ofthegenerator,possibleerrorsinthemanualsandtheresults
thereof.
Automac start/stop
WhisperPower cannot be held responsible for damage caused
by the unaended running generator using the auto-start/stop
mode or interval mode.

currentisthecurrentbetweentwophasesthatcanbe

2.1 Safety
2.1.1 General
Whencorrectlyinstalledandusedinnormalcircumstancesthis
generangsetfulllsECsafetyregulaons.Thisgenerangset
couldbepartofaninstallaonorcouldbeusedinawaythat
addionalregulaonsoftheECorotherauthorieshavetobe
takenintoaccount.
DANGER
Warningsignsdrawaenontospecialwarnings,
instruconsorprocedureswhich,ifnotstrictlyob-
served,mayresultinelectricalshockwhichwillresult
inseverepersonalinjuryorlossoflife.
Circumstancescouldmakeitalsonecessarytotakeaddional
measures.Beawareofwetcondionsandhazardousenviron-
mentscausedbyexplosivegasesetc.
2.1.2 Elelctrical safety
Thiswarningsignindicatespartswhichcouldbelive.
Thevoltageof230Vor230V/400Vgeneratedbythis
generangsetisdangerousandifinstruconsand
proceduresarenotstrictlyobservedmayresultin
electricalshockwhichwillresultinseverepersonal
injuryorlossoflife.
• Checkallwiringatleastonceayear.Defects,suchas
looseconnecons,burnedcablesetc.mustberepaired
immediately.
• Donotworkontheelectricalsystemifitissllconnect-
edtoacurrentsource.Onlyallowchangesinyourelec-
tricalsystemtobecarriedoutbyqualiedelectricians.
• Usingtheauto-start/stop(interval)modethegenerator
canstartunexpectedly.Whenworkingontheelectrical
system,the3AmpDigitalDieselControlfusemustbe
removedfromthecontrolpanelandthebaeryplus
cablemustberemovedfromthebaery.
• Conneconandproteconmustbedoneinaccordance
withlocalstandards.
2.1.3 Earth insulaon failures
Accordingtolocalregulaonsanddependingontheapplicaon
itcouldbenecessarytotakemeasuresforproteconagainst
earthinsulaonfailures.
Inthestandarddelivery“neutral”and“ground”arenotconnect-
ed.Tomakeaconneconbetween“neutral”and“ground”could
benecessaryaspartofaspecicinsulaonfailureprotecon
system.
SmallpleasurecrainEuropeissubmiedtoTheRecreaonal
CraDirecve94/25/EC.Theguidelinesofthisdirecvereferto
(ISO13297).
Whentheinstallaoncomplieswiththisstandardthe“neutral”
and“ground”shouldbeconnectedonthegenerangset.
Beawarethatinsulaonproteconsystemscanbedierent
fordierentapplicaonsandevenwithintheshiptherecould
bedierentstandardsfordierentspaces.Wedidrefertothe
RecreaonalCraDirecvethatappliestopleasurecraupto24
moflength.Somemesonehastocomplywithotherstandards
suchastherulesofcercaonsocieeslikeLloyd’sRegisterof
ShippingorVeritas,regulaonsfortheproteconofpersonal,
buildinglegislaon,etc.Itisofthegreatestimportancetohave
expertadviceonthisissue.
Inallsituaonsthetransferswitchesbetweenshore,
inverterandgeneratorshouldswitchbothneutral(N)
andallphaselines(L1,L2andL3).

2.1.4 Installaon
Whispergenerangsetsarenotself-containedandhavetobe
properlyinstalledinenclosedareassuchasamachineroom.
Installaonincludesmeasurestobetakentooutlet
exhaustfumeswhichcontaincarbonmonoxideandare
extremelydangerous.
Carbonmonoxide(CO)isaninvisibleodourlessgas.Inhalaon
producesheadache,nauseaordeath.Installaonincludes
measuresforpropervenlaon,safeelectricconnecons,safe
installaonofthestarngbaery,properngofthecooling
systemandfuelpipesetc.Seetheinstallaonmanual.
2.1.5 Operaon
ExternalmovingpartslikefansandV-beltsarecoveredbythe
canopyandthereforetheM-SQ-Pro15/18isverysafewhenthe
canopyisclosed.
Neverthelesstakenoteofthesignsonthegenerang
setwhichshowsymbolsinatriangleindicang
danger.
Whenservicehastobecarriedoutwhiletheengineis
running,beawareofmovingpartslikeV-belts.
• Thegenerangsetshouldbeoperatedbyauthorised
personnelonly.
• Beawareofhotpartsandespeciallypartsoftheex-
haustsystemandcoolingsystem.
• Ifthegenerangsetisunsafe,tdangernocesand
disconnectthebaeryposive(+)leadsothatitcannot
bestartedunlthecondioniscorrected.
• Donotaempttooperatethegenerangsetwitha
knownunsafecondion.Disconnectthebaeryposi-
ve(+)leadpriortoaempnganyrepairsorcleaning
insidetheenclosure.
• Alwaysconsultthemanualbeforecarryingoutmainte-
nance.
• Donotchangethesengswithoutconsulngthe
manufacturer.Keeparecordofsengchangesinthis
manual.
2.1.6 Fire and explosion
Fuelscanbeammable.Properhandlinglimitstherisk
ofreandexplosion.
• Avoidrellingthefueltankwhiletheengineisrunning.
Whenoilorfuelisleakingdonotusethegenerang
set.
• Donotruntheengineclosetoexplosivesorgasses.
• Hydrogengasgeneratedbychargingbaeriesis
explosive.Takemeasuresforpropervenlaon.Do
notsmokeorallowsparks,ames,orothersourcesof
ignionaroundbaeries.
• Keepareexnguisheronhand.
• Poorelectricalconneconsorusingwiringwhichisnot
suitedfortheratedcurrentscancauseoverheangand
possiblyre.
2.1.7 Chemicals
• Fuels,oils,coolants,andbaeryelectrolytecanbe
hazardoustopersonnelifnottreatedproperly.Donot
swalloworhaveskincontactwiththeseliquids.Donot
wearclothingthathasbeencontaminatedbyfuelor
lubricangoil.
• Gasketsmaybemanufacturedfromasbestos.Parcles
ofthismaterialshouldnotbeinhaledasthismayresult
in fatal diseases.
• Onnoaccountallowanyunprotectedskintocomeinto
contactwiththeinjectorsprayasthefuelmayenter
thebloodstreamwithfatalresults.
• EnginesmaybeedwithsealsorO-ringsmanufac-
turedfrom“viton”orsimilarmaterial.Whenexposed
toabnormalhightemperaturesinexcessof400°Can
extremelycorrosiveacidisproducedwhichcannotbe
removedfromtheskin.Ifsignsofdecomposionare
evident,orifindoubt,alwaysweardisposableheavy
dutygloves.
2.2 Transport, liing and storage
Whenliingthegenerangsetavoidanyriskof
personalinjuries,donotstandunderthegenerang
set.
• Usesoslingstoavoiddamage
• Ontheengineareliingeyes,whichcanbeusedto
takethegeneratoroutofthecapsule.Theliingeyes
canalsobeusedtolitheenregeneratorset,includ-
ingthecapsule
• Aertransporngthegenerangsetcheckfordamage
beforeinstallaon.
• Longtermstoragecanhavedetrimentaleectsonen-
gineandalternator.Theengineshouldbeputthrough
anenginepreservaonprocedure.(Seethemainte-
nancechapter)
• Thealternatorwindingstendtocondense.Tominimise
condensaon,storethegenerangsetinadryand
warmstoragearea.
• Aerremovingthegenerangsetfromlongterm
storageperformaninsulaoncheck.(Seethealternator

blocked.
Allalarmswitchesareclosedwhennomalfunconoccurs.A
contactiscutintheeventofanalarm.Thismeansthatthe
generangsetwillnotworkwhenthealarmswitchesarebroken
