M-Series with Matrox/Other Graphics Adaptor
VideoAdaptor - Please install video adaptor and its drivers.
- For the installation details, please refer to the installation guide
provided by the hardware manufacturers.
Connecting Cables - Please make all cable connections in Landscape mode. Connectors
are located on the side of the monitor. Please refer to the figure
above.
- Please connect power cable to the power adaptor connector.
- Please connect video cables to DVI-1 for Display 1 and DVI-2 for
Display 2.
※
For a single Display configuration, please use DVI-1.

When you change the orientation to Portrait, please tilt the monitor
first. Then turn it counterclockwise. If you change the monitor orientation
without tilting it first, you might damage the monitor head and monitor
base.
※
When you change its orientation to Landscape again, please tilt the
monitor first, and then turn it clockwise.
Lumical™ S/W
Installation
- Insert accompanied Lumical™ Application CD into CD-Rom in your
computer and run “lumicalinstall.exe”
- For a detailed installation guide, please refer to the following
section.

Setting up Display
After installing Video Adaptor and Drivers and rebooting PC, you will see that the resolution of
the display is not correct. You can set a correct resolution by going through the following steps.
Step 1. Go to the control panel, and double click “Display” icon. Then select “Display
Properties.” Now Select “Setting” tab.
Step 2 If there is a presence of on-board video adaptor or another video adaptor in
addition to RealVision video adaptor, then you will see on additional small
monitor which is not going to be used. Select one monitor 2 and click “Extend
my Windows desktop… .”

Step 4 Click “Advanced ÆAdaptor ÆList All Modes.” And select a video mode that
you want to use.

* If you are using a dual monitor configuration, please repeat from Step 1 to

Lumical™ S/W Installation
With Matrox/Other Graphics Adaptor
Preparation ※Please connect supplied USB cables to connect WIDE display to
computer you are using.
Computer (Square Head) ÅÆ (Flat Head) Monitor
Monitor Driver Installation
- Make sure that monitor is turned on before connecting USB cable to a
host computer
- Please do not use “Automatic Driver Installation.” When Windows
asks you for “Automatic Driver Installation,” please select “No.” Then
install the monitor driver manually. Monitor driver is located in
“Program Files/RealVision/Lumical/” directory.

Step 1. Run “LumicalInstall.exe”
You will see the following pop-up window.
Uncheck “This display is not controlled,” check box as it is shown above. And
select “It does not divide” in “Type of Division” menu.
Step 2. Please select “Yes” to for the following pop-up window.

Step 3. Please select “Yes” to for the following pop-up window.
Step 4. Please select “No” to for the following pop-up window.
Step 5. Please select “Yes” to confirm the configuration.
※ This procedure will be automatically started when you install Lumical™
S/W for the first time. When it does not start automatically, please run
LumicalClient by double clicking on either “LumicalClient” or
“Configuration Dialog.”
After Lumical™ Installation you will find the following icons on the background
of Windows. Double click “Configuration Dialog” or “LumicalClient.”
A pop up window appears. Please select “WideUSBIF.dll.”

Optional Number 1
This is used as a unique identifier for a display. For display 1, please use “20.”
For display 2, please use “30.”
Note. You can use any arbitrary numbers. Just make sure that you are
designating two different numbers to each monitor. Again, these numbers
are used as unique identifiers.
Optional Number 2
This is a nubmer reserved for a service purpose. Leave it as it is.
Optional String
Please find a serial number from the lable on the back and enter the serial
number of each display.
Now the dipslay set up is completed. You will find a quick start button on the
Windows menu bar. Right click on the icon and select “Execution Dialog.”
Note ※When you run Lumical™ Client program for the first time, you will be asked
to enter a licence key. Please enter a valid licence key that is printed on your
Limical™ application S/W CD.
※If you want to enter a licence key later, then please select “Cancel.” You

can use fully functional Lumical™ S/W upto 30 days after the installation. If
you do not provide a valid Licence key during this trial period, the program will
be deactivate itself.

Lumical™ S/W Quick Start Guide
When you successfully finish Lumical™ S/W installation, an icon will appear in
a quick start icon tool bar which you can find on the lower right corner of
Windows task bar.
Position a mouse pointer on the Lumical™ quick start icon, and right click it.
Then please select “Open Execution Dialog.” This will bring the main
calibration window shown below.
※ All displays that are under Lumical™ Client’s management will be
listed. For example, the main calibration window shown above shows that
only one IF1901M is under control.
How to select a monitor that you want to calibrate.
Click one of the monitors listed on display list window to select it. To
deselect it, please click a selected monitor again. You can choose
multiple monitors by clicking monitors from the dislay list window.

Setting Paramaeters before Calibration
Click ① “Setting Parameter.” This will open the following pop-up
window.
Set “Maximum Luminance” value. Typical setting is 400 cd/m2or 450
cd/m2. Leave “Minimum Luminance” as it is. The lowest possible value
will be automatically detected and set.
Check “Use Minimum/ Maximum Luminance value for Calibration” to
reflect the changes.
Set “Measuring Points for Calibration” Recommended value for normal※
Ray viewing is 33 steps. But some hospitals may want to use 64 steps or
higher for Mamography viewing application.
※Calbration steps larger than 64 setps takes more than 10 minutes,
and 256 steps calibration takes upto one hour depending on you
computer system configuration.
Now please click “Ok” to reflect changes.

Calibration
Click ② “Execute Calibration and Conformance Test” button to
calibrate the selected displays. Calibration and Conformance test will
be performed automatically.
Verifying Calibration Result
Click ③“Report” button to bring up “Report”
pop-up menu.
Now, select “Luminance Curve” button. This
will show you a window that shows the
calibration result in a graph shown below.
Point – This uses square dots to draw a graph.

Curve – This uses lines to draw a graph.
Calibrated – Optical characteristic of the display after DICOM calibration
Native – Optical characteristic of the display before DICOM calibration
Target – Target DICOM curve the calibrated display should match.

manual.

1 Video Driver Installation
※
When you are not able to set up video graphics adaptor due to driver installation failure,,
please check the followings.
1.1.1 Remove Previously Installed video drivers before installing new drivers.
9Remove folders as well after removing drivers and its applications. Configuration
files may be still in the same directory which will result same configuration before
you remove the driver which you do not want to have.
1.1.2 Use a PCI slot with higher priority.
9Depending on the configuration and PC system, each PCI has a different priority
not in sequential order. When this happens, driver will not work properly due to its
low priority setting.
1.1.3 Setting up with Color and Monochrome display together
9Set up Color display first and then go on with Monochrome display.
※If you failed to install drivers after going through the steps given above, please contact a
WIDE representative in your region. And before contacting the representative, please fill-in and
make “Support Request” form ready.
It has higher priority.

2 No Image
※
When you have No Image on the diplay, please check the followings.
2.1.1 Single Display Configuration
9Check the color of LED on the monitor
RED: Video Signal is out of range or no video signal is coming in.
Check signal cable connection
Try to use a new video cable
Green: Video Signal is recognized but timing is wrong.
Re-install video drivers
Check the resolution setting of the display
Off
Check power cable connection
2.1.2 Dual Display Configuration
9Check the color of LED on the monitor
Refer to Item 2.1.
9Only one display is working
Make sure that you chose "Dual Display" set up when you install drivers.
Bring up "Property" control panel. Select a disabled display, then check
"Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor." option.

3 Wrong Image
※
When you have a wrong image on the display, please check the following..
3.1.1 Small image at the center of a screen
9Check if the drivers are installed correctly. Re-install video drivers.
9Check the resolution setting of the display.
3.1.2 Split Screen
9You may be using a commercial graphics adaptor for 3MP or higher resolution
models.
Make sure that the video adaptor supports Dual Link DVI.
Make sure that you installed correct video drivers.
3.1.3 Can not change resolution
9Check if you installed correct video drivers.
When you install 3MP drivers for 5MP display, you can not change the
resolution to 5MP since the driver limits the maximum resolution to 3MP.

4 Retractable Sensor
※
When the automatic retactable sensor is not working, please check the following.
4.1.1 Retractable sensor is in stuck.
9If a computer system happened to be shut-down or someone stopped Lumical
calibration process, then the sensor will not receive a proper command resulting
"Sensor in Stuck." When this happens, please restart the system or restart Lumical
program and then perform the last process you performed just before restarting
the system or Lumical program.
4.1.2 Sensor is not moving
9Using Realvision GraphicsAdaptor
Make sure you selected "WIDEDDCIF.dll" in "Library File Name" while you
installed Lumical.
9Using Matrox or Other GraphicsAdaptor
Make sure you selected "WIDEUSBIF.dll" in "Library File Name" while you
installed Lumical.
※When you hear a mechanical noise but the sensor is not moving, then the sensor moving
mechanism may be out of order. If you are experiencing this, please contact you local WIDE
representative immediately.
