About the Plamp Stake
The Plamp Stake is a device which allows the Plamp II to be secured
independently in various ground types. The Plamp Stake consists of
two components: the Ground Spike and the Extension Tube. The
Ground Spike is a high-quality custom screwdriver. In our extensive
search we found nothing that compared in terms of functionality and
cost effectiveness. The spike has been designed for quick and easy
placement without the need for a hammer. The Extension Tube is a
high grade UV resistant plastic pipe which is designed to hold the
spike.
Features
• Simplicity in design and function
• Lightweight and compact
• High quality materials and construction
• Travel Friendly (*Meets 2020TSA Guidelines)
• Doubles as a slotted head screwdriver
• Extension acts as a storage sheath for the spike
• Easily inserted into a variety of ground types including rocky soil
• Eliminates vibration transmission from camera to subject held in Plamp
• Allows deliberate positioning of reflectors independent of tripod
or other available anchors
*Meeting TSA Guidelines does not guarantee the ability to place the Plamp Stake in your carry-on in the US or abroad, however the total length of the
ground spike is considered acceptable by TSA guideline concerning tools (in particular screwdrivers). Due to the fact that TSA issues guidelines and
not rules we advise that the Plamp Stake be placed in a checked bag to avoid possible confiscation.

The Plamp Stake has been designed to allow the Plamp to be secured on the Ground
Spike as well as up to 12” above the ground with the Extension Tube. If greater height is
needed consider these options:
Use multiple Extension Tubes (part# PP-232) connected together. Keep in mind that
as the height of the tube increases, rigidity decreases.
Use a 3/4”Schedule 40 PVC pipe with bell end or coupler to fit on the end of the
Extension Tube. Off-the-shelf schedule 40 PVC pipe and couplers are compatible with the
extension. In a pinch this pipe can be used to extend the Plamp Stake or replace a lost
Extension Tube.
Storing The device
Wipe dirt and debris from the Ground Spike. Remove the spike from the extension. Insert the spike into
the extension as shown below until it is securely seated. The Plamp Stake is now ready
to be stored in your gear bag.
Adjusting the Ground Spikes fit inside the Extension
Time and various conditions may affect the fit between the Ground Spike and
Extension. Therefore the spike has been designed with an adjustment screw so that
a snug but not excessively tight fit can be achieved. This adjustment can be made
with a standard slotted head screwdriver. You can use the tip of the spike to adjust
the screw if you have multiple stakes.
How to Use Your Plamp Stake
Inserting the Device
Hold the handle of the Ground Stake and firmly push into the ground. If additional control and leverage is desired, the
Plamp Stake can also be pushed into the ground with extension tube attached.
