Introduction
Intended use
The XORAYA DATACUBE-N1 is a fast read-out station for XORAYA RSUs (Removable Storage
Units). A terminal or PC can be used to access the contents of the storage medium.
The DATACUBE-N1 is designed for industrial areas and must not be used in residential areas.
You may only operate the DATACUBE-N1 within the scope of the technical specifications pro-
vided in this user manual. Additionally, the use in hazardous areas is not allowed.
The connecting cables may be extended up to a maximum of 30 m, while it is not allowed to
extend the power cord between AC adapter and DATACUBE-N1.

Check to ensure that the delivery is complete and all parts are in sound condition. If the deliv-
ery is incomplete or supplied components are damaged, contact X2E immediately. Do not
use damaged components.

Safety
Safety labels on the device
You find the following two safety labels on the XORAYA RSU front side.
Warning: Hot surface
Please note the safety instruction Burning hazard due to hot surfaces (see
chapter Connecting).
Read this user manual completely before using the device for the first time.
General safety instructions
The DATACUBE-N1 is only intended for use by qualified personnel.
CAUTION
Electric shock due to damaged components
Damages to the D
ATACUBE
-N1, the power cord or the AC adapter can result
in electric shock.
Check all components regularly for damages.
Only connect the DATACUBE-N1 if all components are undamaged.
CAUTION
Device damage due to vibrations, dirt or liquids
Excessive vibrations, dirt or liquids may result in malfunction or destruction
of the DATACUBE-N1.
Avoid exposing the DATACUBE-N1 to excessive vibrations, dirt or liq-
uids.
Keep the DATACUBE-N1 clean, especially plugs and sockets to en-
sure a reliable contact.
Never open the DATACUBE-N1.
CAUTION
Device damage due to electrostatic discharge
Electronic components can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge.
Avoid touching connectors and connector pins.
Ground yourself before carrying the DATACUBE-N1 or the XORAYA
RSU in your hands.
Never reach into the slot for the XORAYA RSU.

Unlock button (A)
To avoid data loss, always press this button for at least one second before disconnecting the
XORAYA RSU. The integrated LED displays the connection state.
LED Meaning
red: connection enabled (locked)
green: connection disabled through button (unlocked)
Disk detected LED (B)
Illuminates blue when the connected XORAYA RSU is in its fully pushed-in position.
Disk active LED (C)
Illuminates yellow when data is transferred.
Power button (D)
When the DATACUBE-N1 is on, the power button illuminates green. Press the button twice
shortly to safely shut down the DATACUBE-N1 and unlock the XORAYA RSU.
Power supply (E)
Use the provided power cord with AC adapter to connect the DATACUBE-N1 to the power sup-
ply.
Service LAN port (F)
In case of errors, this port is used as a debugging interface by the X2E support team.
USB 3.0 ports (G)
Perform a firmware update by using a USB flash drive containing the suitable ISO file.
1GbE (H) and 10GbE LAN ports (I)
Use these ports to connect the DATACUBE-N1 to a switch or directly to your PC.

The bold settings on the attached label indicate the default configuration:
Starting with hardware revision 2.xx, only 2x 10GbE LAN ports are available.
Compatibility of GbE standards
1GbE and 10GbE are principally compatible to each other. Use a switch in
between if there are connection problems.
The compatibility between 10GbE and 10/100Base-T is not guaranteed.
RJ45 port LEDs:
LED Colour Meaning
Activity flashing yellow data is transferred
(off) no connection
Link speed orange 1 Gbit/s
green 100 Mbit/s for 1GbE ports
10 Gbit/s for 10GbE ports
(off) no connection or 10 Mbit/s

CAUTION
Device damage due to overheating
Overheating may result in malfunction or destruction of the D
ATACUBE
-N1.
Do not operate the DATACUBE-N1 in the vicinity of heat sources.
Ensure adequate air circulation.
Do not cover the DATACUBE-N1 with other objects.
XORAYA RSU
CAUTION
Burning hazard due to hot surfaces
Continuous operation can strongly heat up housing and handle of the stor-
age medium XORAYA RSU. As a result, when removing the medium, it can
burn the skin on the hands.
Wear temperature-resistant ESD gloves when in contact with the XO-
RAYA RSU.
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to sharp edges or falling down
Sharp edges can cause cuts. Due to the weight of the X
ORAYA
RSU, foot in-
juries are likely to occur when it falls down.
Wear temperature-resistant ESD gloves when in contact with the XO-
RAYA RSU.
Handle the XORAYA RSU with special care.
Insert the XORAYA RSU carefully with both hands into the slot.
Slowly push the XORAYA RSU until the stop is reached.
The locking mechanism audibly clicks into place.

PC/Switch
Connect PC or switch via a standard network cable to one of the ports (H-I).
Ensure proper connector seating.
Power supply
CAUTION
Device damage due to wrong power supply
A wrong power supply can result in damage or destruction of the D
ATACUBE
-
N1.
Use the provided power cord with AC adapter to connect the
DATACUBE-N1 to the power supply.
Only connect the DATACUBE-N1 to power supplies that meet the
specifications on the AC adapter label.
The power supply must provide a current of 15 A.
Connect the power cord with AC adapter to port (E).
Tighten the connector screws.
Connect the power cord to a power supply that meets the technical specifications.
