strips, multioutlet extenders, or UPS devi es. The power apa ity of these types of a essories an be
easily overloaded by a laser printer and may result in a risk of fire, property damage, or poor printer

CCAAUUTTIIOONN——PPOOTTEENNTTIIAALL IINNJJUURRYY:: To redu e the risk of fire, use only a 26 AWG or larger
tele ommuni ations (RJ-11) ord when onne ting this produ t to the publi swit hed telephone network.
For users in Australia, the ord must be approved by the Australian Communi ations and Media Authority.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——SSHHOOCCKK HHAAZZAARRDD:: To avoid the risk of ele tri al sho k, do not pla e or use this produ t
near water or wet lo ations.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——SSHHOOCCKK HHAAZZAARRDD:: To avoid the risk of ele tri al sho k, do not set up this produ t or make
any ele tri al or abling onne tions, su h as the power ord, fax feature, or telephone, during a lightning
storm.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——PPOOTTEENNTTIIAALL IINNJJUURRYY:: Do not ut, twist, bind, rush, or pla e heavy obje ts on the power
ord. Do not subje t the power ord to abrasion or stress. Do not pin h the power ord between obje ts
su h as furniture and walls. If any of these things happen, a risk of fire or ele tri al sho k results. Inspe t
the power ord regularly for signs of su h problems. Remove the power ord from the ele tri al outlet
before inspe ting it.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——SSHHOOCCKK HHAAZZAARRDD:: To avoid the risk of ele tri al sho k, make sure that all external
onne tions, su h as Ethernet and telephone system onne tions, are properly installed in their marked
plug-in ports.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——SSHHOOCCKK HHAAZZAARRDD:: To avoid the risk of ele tri al sho k, if you are a essing the ontroller
board or installing optional hardware or memory devi es sometime after setting up the printer, then turn
the printer off, and unplug the power ord from the ele tri al outlet before ontinuing. If you have any
other devi es atta hed to the printer, then turn them off as well, and unplug any ables going into the
printer.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——SSHHOOCCKK HHAAZZAARRDD:: To avoid the risk of ele tri al sho k when leaning the exterior of the
printer, unplug the power ord from the ele tri al outlet and dis onne t all ables from the printer before
pro eeding.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——SSHHOOCCKK HHAAZZAARRDD:: To avoid the risk of ele tri al sho k, do not use the fax feature during a
lightning storm.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——PPOOTTEENNTTIIAALL IINNJJUURRYY:: If the printer weight is greater than 20 kg. (44 lb.), then it may
require two or more people to lift it safely.

CCAAUUTTIIOONN——PPOOTTEENNTTIIAALL IINNJJUURRYY:: When moving the printer, follow these guidelines to avoid personal
injury or printer damage:
• Make sure that all doors and trays are losed.
• Turn off the printer, and then unplug the power ord from the ele tri al outlet.
• Dis onne t all ords and ables from the printer.
• If the printer has separate floor-standing optional trays or output options atta hed to it, then
dis onne t them before moving the printer.
• If the printer has a aster base, then arefully roll it to the new lo ation. Use aution when passing
over thresholds and breaks in flooring.
• If the printer does not have a aster base but is onfigured with optional trays or output options, then
remove the output options and lift the printer off the trays. Do not try to lift the printer and any
options at the same time.
• Always use the handholds on the printer to lift it.
• Any art used to move the printer must have a surfa e able to support the full footprint of the printer.
• Any art used to move the hardware options must have a surfa e able to support the dimensions of
the options.
• Keep the printer in an upright position.
• Avoid severe jarring movements.
• Make sure that your fingers are not under the printer when you set it down.
• Make sure that there is adequate learan e around the printer.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——TTIIPPPPIINNGG HHAAZZAARRDD:: Installing one or more options on your printer or MFP may require a
aster base, furniture, or other feature to prevent instability ausing possible injury. For more information
on supported onfigurations, onta t the pla e where you pur hased the printer.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——TTIIPPPPIINNGG HHAAZZAARRDD:: To redu e the risk of equipment instability, load ea h tray separately.
Keep all other trays losed until needed.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——HHOOTT SSUURRFFAACCEE:: The inside of the printer might be hot. To redu e the risk of injury from a
hot omponent, allow the surfa e to ool before tou hing it.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——PPIINNCCHH HHAAZZAARRDD:: To avoid the risk of a pin h injury, use aution in areas marked with this
label. Pin h injuries may o ur around moving parts, su h as gears, doors, trays, and overs.
CCAAUUTTIIOONN——PPOOTTEENNTTIIAALL IINNJJUURRYY:: This produ t uses a laser. Use of ontrols or adjustments or
performan e of pro edures other than those spe ified in the User Guide an result in hazardous radiation
exposure.
