Your Xerox®printer and supplies are designed and tested to meet stri t safety requirements. These in lude safety

environmental standards.

only.

Ele tri al Safety
GENERAL GUIDELINES
WWaarrnniinngg:: Do not push obje ts into slots or openings on the printer. Tou hing a voltage point or shorting
out a part ould result in fire or ele tri sho k.
WWaarrnniinngg:: Do not remove the overs or guards that are fastened with s rews unless you are installing
optional equipment and are instru ted to do so. Power off the printer when performing these installations.
Dis onne t the power ord when removing overs and guards for installing optional equipment. Ex ept for
user-installable options, there are no parts that you an maintain or servi e behind these overs.
The following are hazards to your safety:
• The power ord is damaged or frayed.
• Liquid is spilled into the printer.
• The printer is exposed to water.
• The printer emits smoke, or the surfa e is unusually hot.
• The printer emits unusual noise or odors.
• The printer auses a ir uit breaker, fuse, or other safety devi e to a tivate.
If any of these onditions o ur, do the following:
1. Power off the printer immediately.
2. Dis onne t the power ord from the ele tri al outlet.
3. Call an authorized servi e representative.
POWER CORD
Use the power ord supplied with your printer.
WWaarrnniinngg:: To avoid risk of fire or ele tri al sho k, do not use extension ords, power strips, or power plugs.
• Plug the power ord dire tly into a properly grounded ele tri al outlet. Ensure that ea h end of the ord is
onne ted se urely. If you do not know if an outlet is grounded, ask an ele tri ian to he k the outlet.
• Do not use a ground adapter plug to onne t the printer to an ele tri al outlet that does not have a ground
onne tion terminal.
• Verify that the printer is plugged into an outlet that is providing the orre t voltage and power. Review the
ele tri al spe ifi ation of the printer with an ele tri ian if ne essary.
• Se ure the power ord in pla e using the bra ket provided with the printer.
• Do not pla e the printer in an area where people an step on the power ord.
• Do not pla e obje ts on the power ord.
• Do not plug or unplug the power ord while the power swit h is in the On position.

• If the power ord be omes frayed or worn, repla e it.
• To avoid ele tri al sho k and damage to the ord, grasp the plug when unplugging the power ord.
The power ord is atta hed to the printer as a plug-in devi e on the ba k of the printer. If it is ne essary to
dis onne t all ele tri al power from the printer, dis onne t the power ord from the ele tri al outlet.
EMERGENCY POWER OFF
If any of the following onditions o ur, power off the printer immediately and dis onne t the power ord from the
ele tri al outlet. Conta t an authorized Xerox servi e representative to orre t the problem if:
• The equipment emits unusual odors or makes unusual noises.
• The power able is damaged or frayed.
• A wall panel ir uit breaker, fuse, or other safety devi e has been tripped.
• Liquid is spilled into the printer.
• The printer is exposed to water.
• Any part of the printer is damaged.

WWaarrnniinngg:: To redu e the risk of fire, use only No. 26 Ameri an Wire Gauge (AWG) or larger
tele ommuni ation line ord.

Operational Safety
Your printer and supplies were designed and tested to meet stri t safety requirements. These in lude safety agen y
examination, approval, and omplian e with established environmental standards.
Your attention to the following safety guidelines helps to ensure the ontinued, safe operation of your printer.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES
• Do not remove any trays when the printer is printing.
• Do not open the doors when the printer is printing.
• Do not move the printer when it is printing.
• Keep hands, hair, ne kties, and so on, away from the exit and feed rollers.
• Covers, whi h require tools for removal, prote t the hazard areas within the printer. Do not remove the
prote tive overs.
• Do not override any ele tri al or me hani al interlo k devi es.
• Do not attempt to remove paper that is jammed deeply inside the printer. Swit h off the printer promptly and
onta t your lo al Xerox representative.
WWaarrnniinngg:: The metalli surfa es in the fuser area are hot. Always use aution when removing paper jams
from this area and avoid tou hing any metalli surfa es.
WWaarrnniinngg:: To avoid a tip hazard, do not push or move the devi e with all the paper trays extended.
OZONE RELEASE
This printer produ es ozone during normal operation. The amount of ozone produ ed is dependent on opy volume.
Ozone is heavier than air and is not produ ed in amounts large enough to harm anyone. Install the printer in a well-
ventilated room.

PRINTER LOCATION
• Pla e the printer on a level, solid, non-vibrating surfa e with adequate strength to hold its weight. To find the
weight for your printer onfiguration, refer to Physi al Spe ifi ations.
• Pla e the printer in an area where there is adequate spa e for operation and servi ing.
• Pla e the printer in a dust-free area.
• Do not blo k or over the slots or openings on the printer. These openings are provided for ventilation and to
prevent overheating of the printer
• Do not store or operate the printer in an extremely hot, old, or humid environment.
• Do not pla e the printer near a heat sour e.

• Do not pla e the printer in dire t sunlight to avoid exposure to light-sensitive omponents.
• Do not pla e the printer where it is dire tly exposed to the old air flow from an air onditioning system.
• Do not pla e the printer in lo ations sus eptible to vibrations.
