The information in this document is intended to provide a summary, or where appropriate to avoid
duplication, a reference to material that may form the basis of any documentation required to be
authored by a technical author that describes how the Xerox

WorkCentre
®
7220/7225 is different
from its predecessor, the WorkCentre 7120/7125.
This white paper is intended to provide a technolo y overview to help field personnel and IT
or anizations to understand the similarities and differences between the WorkCentre 7220/7225 and
WorkCentre 7120/7125. It will also provide information on new features added to the WorkCentre
7120/7125 as Xerox continues to build and improve our Xerox
®
ConnectKey
®
Technolo y. This will help
minimize accreditation efforts so we can more quickly, and cost effectively, introduce the new features
and functionality offered by the WorkCentre 7120/7125 to enhance the customer’s work environment.

Part I: Product Overview
Product Introduction
The key difference between the new WorkCentre 7200 series and its predecessor, the WorkCentre 7100
series, is contained within the controller used for each device. The WorkCentre 7200 Series utilizes the
newest eneration of Xerox
®
ConnectKey
®
Technolo y, whereas the WorkCentre 7100 Series used our
Fuji-Xerox
®
DMP-based controller. There are several notable differences between the two controllers,
some are major enhancements over the DMP platform, but there are areas we do see some re ression.
Ori inally launched in February of 2013, the 7200 Series was further updated in May of 2014 with a
software up rade available for existin products in the field that added new features and provided
updates to existin functionality.
Overall, ConnectKey Technolo y introduced a number of new and improved innovations based on our

eneration desi n that includes a common user and administrator experience whether at the
raphical interface, usin common features or inte ratin with our latest Xerox Extensible Interface
Platform
®
that takes workplace convenience to the next level.
The WorkCentre 7220/7225 is even easier to use and mana e; it offers simple yet advanced features
for all skill levels, re ardless of company size, to enable everyone to benefit from numerous security,
cost savin s and productivity enhancin features. Users will notice the controllers’ true multi-taskin
capabilities as well as the convenient on-board workflows that includes fully automated or ‘one-touch
scannin ’ capability. ConnectKey Technolo y also includes the ability to customize the User Interface
based on authentication, you can control who sees or uses what feature by inte ratin into your
existin authentication servers.
The followin is the value proposition for the WorkCentre 7200 series; some which already exist today
and others have been added to support the new 1.5 software.

• As with the WorkCentre 7120/7125, the power consumption of the WorkCentre 7220/7225 scanner
usin LED li htin is 1/3 of traditional scanners usin fluorescent lamps.
• Both models feature our EA Toner with ultra low melt technolo y, which achieves minimum fusin
temperature at 68 de rees F (20 de rees C) lower than conventional toner for even more ener y
savin s and brilliant lossy output even on ordinary paper.
• Intelli ent Duplex allows the machine to print jobs as duplex when needed, and sends as simplex
when required. This allows the machine to be more efficient and run at a lesser cost.

Software
ConnectKey Technolo y is an operatin system and set of software solutions offered on many of our A3
and A4 Xerox
®
MFPs. They were initially announced in February of 2013. It was desi ned for one purpose:
to simplify the way work ets done. ConnectKey Technolo y offers flexibility, simplicity and security – all
of which allows our customers to focus more on what matters most: their real business. This common
software provides an opportunity for feature coherency across many of the Xerox
®
MFP products.
Note: The WorkCentre 7200 series software releases are not backwards compatible to the WorkCentre
7100 series.
ConnectKey 1.5 Technology Features
In May of 2014, Xerox updated ConnectKey Technolo y with a free up rade that provided new solutions
and features to further enhance the offerin . Also in May, we announced that the ConnectKey 1.5
Technolo y will be available on new devices shippin in the September timeframe.
The followin are the features available with the ConnectKey 1.5 Technolo y up rade.
Convenience
Mopria™ Certified
• The WorkCentre 7200 series is Mopria certified. Mopria certification ensures you can print wirelessly
from your Mopria supported smart phone, tablet and other mobile devices instantly and easily without
any setup.
Xerox

Print Service Plug-in for Android™
• This plu -in enables printin to many Xerox
®
printers and MFPs without the need for third-party apps
or additional print drivers.
Rearrange Service icons
• For reater ease of use and customization, the service buttons on the User Interface can be moved into
any order.
Printing: Scale PCL6 between common metric and US paper sizes
• ConnectKey enabled MFPs provide the ability to scale PCL files (PS was already enabled) between
common metric and US paper sizes. This feature simplifies the use of ConnectKey enabled products
worldwide with customers who re ularly do business lobally and receive documents in both metric
and US sizes. Print ima e scalin is enabled/disabled via the WEB UI (Default is disabled) and is a
clone-able settin .
Reprint Saved Jobs in Color or Mono
• Users can choose Color or Mono at the device for reprintin saved jobs and jobs printed from a USB
Thumb Drive. Color can be set to either Color or Mono, however, if a job was sent as Mono ori inally, it
can only remain as Mono.

maximize their investment.
Online Support Built into the Print Driver
• Online Support is also available from the Print Driver, where it athers information stored in the printer,
examines the information, dia noses the issue and collects relevant solutions from the Xerox
knowled e base. From there it either returns a solution specific to the problem or walks a user throu h
a troubleshootin tree. So users are now able to troubleshoot printer issues directly from print driver
without havin to walk to the device.
Cloning Improvements
• Sin le touch scan settin s can be cloned and clonin permissions are on by default. The Administrator
can confi ure the system so that clone files are accepted while other DLMs are not (weblets / SW
up rade files). Clonin was disabled in ConnectKey launch code due to software up rade vulnerability,
but this fix allows for less IT time required to confi ure a fleet of MFPs.
User Interface Improvements
• All of native services - Copy, ID card Copy, Workflow Scannin are pre-loaded durin power up. Xerox
Extensible Interface Platform Services are not preloaded.
Client Integration
• Basic support for .HPS (Hewlett -Packard WebPrintSmart) file (equivalent to HP4345 scan attributes
file).
App Studio
Online Support in Driver

• Walkup users and administrators can establish and add to on the fly a standard address book available
from the email and fax buttons. This provides users with simple, consistent address book functionality
across a fleet and it enables a default public address book at the device. Add this with a new favorite’s
button and users can quickly select frequently used contacts. This address book can be copied and sent
to other ConnectKey enabled devices, as well as copyin and usin address books from other
competitive devices.
Remote Control Panel
• This feature provides the ability to remotely view and operate the device's user interface- similar to
how help desks remote into a user’s PC. You can control the machine remotely in the same way as if
you were standin next to it. This allows for remote device administration and troubleshootin , as well
