This user manual provides information on the specifications, programming and functions of
the SPECTRUM DX8i Radio transmitter for the XP2 Quadcopter with GPS.

Programing Guide for Spektrum DX8i with GPS
1. Carefully unbox radio and contents.
2. Internal battery in the DX8 radio will be partially charged out of box,
be sure to fully charge the radio prior to flying.
3. Find the provided 128mb SD flash card disk and install it into the
card slot on the left side of the radio.
4. Preprogramming checklist:
a. Make sure DX8 is binded to receiver (see Spektrum manual)
b. Double check all receiver to NAZA controller connections.
c. Make sure GPS is connected to NAZA PMU and NAZA
controller.
5. On the radio, put all switches (flaps, f.mode, aux 2 etc…) to the
back position.

6. Hold the menu select roller down on radio and turn on.
7. Scroll down to system setup and put model type as Airplane and
the model name as XP2 GPS.

8. Go to switch select. Switch all to parameters to Inh (inactive) first
and then change the values so it matches as follows:
OPTIONAL:
To control the tilt of the XPG gimbal with the Flap switch you will
want to setup the switch selection so that Flap is set to Aux3 and Mix
is set to Aux2. If you would like to control the tilt with the Knob you
will have to set Knob to Aux3.
9. Exit out to Main Screen, Radio will restart, press down roll button to
enter the Function List.

10.Go to servo setup. Scroll to select Reverse, then below that scroll to
select Gear. Set Gear to REV (reverse) so that the right side of the
box is shaded:
11. With the props off of your XP2, Connect your NAZA controller to the
computer and plug in your flight battery. If this is your first time

running the NAZA software you may need to install the drivers for
the NAZA connection. Windows should take care of this
automatically. If not go to DJI’s website to download the latest
drivers and software: http://www.dji.com/download/naza-m-v2-
downloads/
12. Open the latest version of the DJI NAZA Assistant. Install any
updates to the firmware if necessary (software will prompt you).
After the upgrade the bar at the bottom will blink from red to green.
Unplug the flight battery, then plug back in to restart the controller.
13. Go to Motor Mixer on computer and select Quad-rotor x.

14. Go back to Mounting on the computer. In the 3 boxes provided
enter X as -8 cm, Y as 8 cm, and Z as -1 cm.
15. Go to RC Tab and select Tradition and then go to Advanced –
Motor tab and set to Immediately

16. Go Back to the RC tab to calibrate the main controller toggles by
clicking Start. On the radio, move the sticks around to the furthest
to all four corners. Click Finish on the computer. Using the toggles
again, make sure throttle stick up is right and throttle stick down is
left, right is right and left is left. If they do not correspond, click the
buttons on the right side to switch. See:

17. On the radio, go to servo setup again. Select Gear under the
second heading. Using the F mode toggle (3 way switch left side of
controller) adjust the percentages both to 84% for now. This will be
checked later.
18. Select Aux 1 and make sure both percentages are 100%.

19.Select Aux 2. Using the Flap toggle, adjust the percentages to 96%
for the left side and 100% for the right side.
20. Go to the RC tab to verify that the F Mode (Flight Mode) toggle
switch is operating the flight mode slider at the bottom of the
screen and highlighting all three flight mode functions: GPS, ATT.
and Manual. Also check that the failsafe is activating correctly by
flipping the return to home switch (back right two-way switch), the
indicator on the slider should move and highlight in blue the failsafe
mode.
