FOR ALL DETHATCHERS
1) Avoid Dangerous Environments - Don’t
use appliances in damp or wet locations.
2) Don’t Use In Rain.
3) Keep Children Away - All visitors should
be kept at a distance from work area.
4) Dress Properly - Do not wear loose
clothing or jewellery. They can be
caught in moving parts. Use of rubber
gloves and substantial footwear is
recommended when working outdoors.
Wear protective hair covering to contain
long hair.
5) Use Safety Glasses - Always use face or
dust mask if operation is dusty.
6) Use the Right Dethatcher - Do not use
dethatcher for any job except that for
which it is intended.
7) Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI)
protection should be provided on the
circuit(s) or outlet(s) to be used for the
gardening appliance. Receptacles are
available having built-in GFCI protection
and may be used for this measure of
safety.
8) Warning -To reduce the risk of electric
shock, use only with an extension cord
intended for outdoor use, such as an
extension cord of cord type SW-A,
SOW-A, STW-A, STOW-A, SJW-A,
SJOW-A, SJTW-A, or SJTOW-A.
9) Extension Cord - Make sure your
extension cord is in good condition.
When using an extension cord, be
sure to use one heavy enough to carry
the current your product will draw. An
undersized extension cord will cause a
drop in line voltage resulting in loss of
power and overheating. Table 1 shows
the correct size to use depending on cord
length and nameplate ampere rating.
If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge.
The smaller the gauge number, the
heavier the cord. To reduce the risk of
disconnection of appliance cord from the
extension cord during operating:
i) Make a knot as shown in Figure 1; or
ii) Use one of the plug-receptacle retaining
straps or connectors described in this
manual.
10) Avoid Unintentional Starting - Don’t
carry plugged-in dethatcher with nger
on switch. Be sure switch is off when
plugging in.
11) Don’t Abuse Cord - Never carry

or cutting edges when picking up or
holding the dethatcher.
13) Don’t Dethatcher - It will do the job
properly and safer at the rate for which it
was designed.
14) Don’t Overreach - Keep proper footing
and balance at all times.
15) Stay Alert - Watch what you are doing.
Use common sense. Do not operate
dethatcher when you are tired.
16) Disconnect Dethatcher - Disconnect
the dethatcher from the power supply
when not in use, before servicing, when
changing accessories such as blades,
and the like.
17) Store Idle Dethatcher Indoors - When
not in use, dethatcher should be stored
indoors in dry, and high or locked-up
place - out of reach of children.
18) Maintain Dethatcher With Care - Keep
cutting edge sharp and clean for
best performance and to reduce the
risk of injury. Follow instructions for
lubricating and changing accessories.
Inspect appliance cord periodically,
and if damaged, have it repaired by
an authorized service facility. Inspect
extension cords periodically and replace
if damaged. Keep handles dry, clean,
and free from oil and grease.
19) Check Damaged Parts - Before further
use of the dethatcher, a guard or other
part that is damaged should be carefully
checked to determine that it will operate
properly and perform its intended
function. Check for alignment of moving
parts, binding of moving parts, breakage
of parts, mounting, and any other
condition that may affect its operation.
A guard or other part that is damaged
should be properly repaired or replaced
by an authorized service center unless
indicated elsewhere in this manual.

1) Replacement Parts
When servicing use only identical
replacement parts.
2) Polarized Connections
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this
dethatcher has a polarized plug (one blade
is wider than the other) and will require
the use of a polarized extension cord. The
plug will t into a polarized extension cord
only one way. If the plug does not t fully
into the extension cord, reverse the plug.
If the plug still does not t, obtain a correct
polarized extension cord. A polarized
extension cord will require the use of a
polarized wall outlet. This plug will t into
the polarized wall outlet only one way.
If the plug does not t fully into the wall
outlet, reverse the plug. If the plug still
does not t, contact a qualied electrician
to install the proper wall outlet. Do not
change the equipment plug, extension
cord receptacle, or extension cord plug in
any way.

Read operator’s manual
Intended Use
This dethatcher is intended for domestic, dethatching of lawns.
This dethatcher is not intended for use on stones and other hard materials.
!WARNING: To avoid injury from unexpected starting or electrical shock during assembly
or adjustment, do not plug the power cord into a source of power.
1. ASSEMBLING HANDLES
Installing the lower handle
- Insert the lower handle into the housing hole. (See A1)
-Align the holes and use supplied screws to fasten the lower handle to the housing.(See A2)
Installing the upper handle
- Position the upper handle so the holes line up with the lower handle holes.
-Align the square holes in lower handle and upper handle
- Insert the supplied hex bolt through the hole from the inside of the handle bar. (See A3)
- Thread the knob onto the hex bolt to tighten securely into place.
NOTE: Install the extension cord retainer to upper handle with wire side before installing
the upper handle with lower handle.
2. STARTING AND STOPPING (See B)
To start:
-Plug the dethatcher into an approved outdoor extension cord.
-First press and hold the safety lock-out button. And then pull the switch lever on the handlebar
to operate.
To stop:
-Release the bale switch.
Stopping the dethatcher
-Release the switch lever.
3. EXTENSION CORD RETAINER (See C1,C2, C3)
After securing the extension cord, use the extension cord retainer to prevent the extension
cord from disconnecting from the power cord when the dethatcher is in use. Attach cord
retainer to dethatcher handle.
4. REPLACE THE RAKE WHEEL
If the rake wheel is worn and tines are broken/missing, then replace the rake wheel
assembly. The new individual rake wheel is sold separately.
-Disconnect the dethatcher from the power source. Allow sufcient time for moving parts to

conpletely stop.
-Turn the dethatcher over.
-Use a hex key (not supplied) to loosen the two screws. (See D1)
-Take out of the plastic cover. (See D2)
-Lift up the rake wheel a little and pull the rake wheel out of the machine. (See D3)
5. REPLACE THE TINES
If the tines are broken/missing, then follow steps below to replace.
- Use a hex key wrench to take out two screws and remove plate covering; (See D2, D3)
- Take out the screw inside the tine reel; (See E1)
- Remove the bearing and then bushing; (See E2)
- Slide spring wheels off the reel until the desired spring replacement is reached; (See E3)
- Remove the spring wheel that needs replacement; (See E4)
- Place new spring into the wheel, pay attention to keep the same direction with other spring;
(See E5)
- Assemble the rest of the spring wheels taken out before, pay attention to the location of shaft
and wheels; (See E6)
- Assemble the bushing and then bearing, and re-tighten the screw; (See E7)
- Assemble the wheel to the unit. (See E8)
HOW TO USE YOUR DETHATCHER
Observe all the relevant warnings when using your dethatcher.
1. To look after a lawn properly, you need to do more than just once a year.
2. Do not force your dethatcher through grass that is too long.It is recommended that your
dethatcher should not be used in grass that is longer that 3”(7.5 cm).
3. Do not use in wet or damp conditions.
4. To obtain the best result from your dethatcher use it regularly. It is recommended that your
dethatcher is used at the beginning and the end of each grass cutting season.

!WARNING! Remove the plug before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or
maintenance.
Do not use an extension cable which shows signs of damage. Fit a new cable completely – do
not make any permanent or temporary repairs.
Always keep your unit clean and free from grass cuttings, especially the underside of the
cutter deck and the air vents. Check all electrical cables at regular intervals, looking for signs of
wear, abrasion or other damage. Remove the debris stuck to the bottom of the machine with a
spatula each time you nish mowing. Clean all plastic components with a damp cloth.
Warning: Do not use solvents or cleaning uids as these may damage the plastic component of
your unit.
Store in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children. Do not place other objects on the
product.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or
similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.

For two (2) Years from the date of purchase
within Canada, YARDWORKS CANADA
will, at its option, repair or replace for the
original purchaser, free of charge, any part
or parts found to be defective in material or
workmanship.
THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER
1. Any part that has become inoperative
due to misuse, commercial use,
abuse, neglect, accident, improper
maintenance, or alteration;
2. The unit, if it has not been operated and/

3. Normal wear, except as noted below;

These parts are warranted to the original

The factory will not accept the return of a
complete unit unless prior written permission

TRANSPORTATION CHARGES
Transportation charges for the movement
of any power equipment unit or attachment
are the responsibility of the purchaser.
The purchaser must pay transportation
charges for any part submitted for
replacement under this warranty unless
such return is requested in writing by
YARDWORKS CANADA.
OTHER WARRANTIES
All other warranties, express or implied,
including any implied warranty of
merchantability is limited in its duration to
that set forth in this express limited warranty.
The provisions as set forth in this warranty
