TheZ-65/6.1counterperiodicallyenergizesa
lowpower solenoidvalve. As inthetime based
samplingmodeofoperation,thisallows
actuationgas tostroke theDP-3000 HP pump.
Therateatwhichthisoccursisafunctionof
operatorinputaswellastheturbineflowmeter
orotherdevicethatinputspulsespervolume
metered. Thetwo10position switches on the
Z-65/6.1areusedtosetthenumberofinput
pulsesthecounterwillcountbeforeactivating
thesolenoidoutput. Thenumberoftimesthe
solenoidoutputis activated isrecorded by the
onboard LCD stroke indicator. Sample volume
is again controlled using the DP-3000 HP
volumeadjustmentknob.
Inbothmodesofoperation,theZ-65/6.1timer/
counteroperatesusingareplaceableinternal
batterypack. Thebatterypack condition is
monitoredbywayof two indicator LEDs. Under
normalconditions,thegreenindicatorLEDwill
illuminatewhenthesolenoidoutputisactuated.
Whenthebatterypackneedsreplacement,the
redLEDwillilluminatewhenthesolenoidoutput
isactivated. Ifthe battery pack isgood, the
greenLEDwillilluminatewhenthesolenoidis
activated.
The External Power Option may be used in
lieuoftheinternalbatterypack. TheExternal
PowerOption(model No. EPO-120)consists of
aACto DC convertor andintrinsically safe
barrier to convert 120 VAC power to 28 VDC to
operatethecontrollerwithouttheuseofthe
internalbatterypack.
The Solar Power Option would be used in lieu
oftheinternalbattery pack. The Solar Power
Option (model #SPO-12) consists of a 5 watt
solarpanelwithRM-12chargerregulator
moduleandinternal12V,5Amphourbattery
pack.
3. Theory of Operation:
The DynaPak 3010RNM Sampler is a liquid
samplingsystemwhichusesthepneumatically
operated,positive displacement DynaPak
3000HPpump,theZ-65/6.1timer/controller,
thePIM-100interfacemodule,theYZfilter/
regulatorandalowpowersolenoidvalveto
obtain liquid samples. The 3010RNM has
two modes of operation:
A. Time-based sampling: in this mode of
operation,the3010RNMextractsaliquid
samplefromthe pipeline at regular time
intervals.Thevolumeofthesampleissetbythe
operatorusingthevolumeadjustmentfeatureof
theDP-3000HPpump.TheZ-65/6.1controller
operatesasarecyclingtimer, periodically
energizingalowpowersolenoidvalve.
Energizingthesolenoidvalveallowsexternally
provided actuation gas to stroke the DP-3000
HPpump. Therate at which thisoccurs is a
functionofoperatorinput. Two10position
switchesareusedtosettheofftimeinterval.
Thisallows a stroketime intervalof 1- 99
minutes. Thenumberoftimesthesolenoid
outputisactivated is recorded bythe onboard
LCD stroke indicator.
B. Proportional-to-flow sampling: in this
modeofoperation,theZ-65/6.1counter
operatesasadividingcounter.ThePIM-100
PulseInputModuleisalowpowerdevice
designedtointerface between a DynaPakZ-65
controllerandamagneticpickupinput. The
PIM-100providesfixedwidthlogicleveloutput
pulsesusedtodrivethecountinputofaZ-65
controllerataratedeterminedby auser
configurabledivisor. Theswitchsettable
divisor, ranging from 1 to 524,287, divides the
inputpulsesfromaturbineflowmeterbythe
cumulativenumberrepresentedbythe“ON”
divisorswitches. Aninputadjustment
potentiometerisprovidedtoallowadjustingthe
inputsensitivity. Powerisderivedfromthe
Z-65batterypack.

4. System Installation:
CAUTION:
**Incorrect operation of valves (over tightening) can result in damage to the valve
components (isolation valve bonnet assembly) which might result in the valve
stem being screwed out of the probe body. This of course results in product at
pipelinepressurebeingventedcontinuallythroughthisportuntilthissectionofthe
pipeline is shut in. Be aware of the following procedures and information.
· DynaPak valves are of soft seat design and should only be closed
or opened with fingers. No wrenches should ever be used.
·If a valve will not seal off with finger tight operation the valve should
have maintenance performed to allow proper operation of the valve.
4.1 DynaPak-3010RNM With Slipstream Kit
a.MounttheDP-3010RNMwithslipstreamkit
ona vertical2" pole.
b.Connectthe slipstream adapter tothe pipe-
lineproductsupplyandproductreturn
connectionsasshowninthediagram.
c.Connecttheactuationgassupply (75psi)to
theactuationgasconnectionlocatedontheleft
handsideofthesampler.
d.Connectthesampleoutconnectiontothe
samplevessel.
e.WirethePIM-100totheflowinputdevice
(Turbine Meter) to be used. (Refer to diagram
#7, Wiring Control Document)
f.Before applying pipelinepressuretothe
DP-3010RNM,ensurethattheproductsupply
valveisclosed.**
g. After pipeline pressure has been applied to
thesampler,checktheslipstreamtubing
connectionsforleaks.
h.Opentheproductsupplyvalve.
i.Follow the "OperationalCheck and Leak
Testing Procedures" detailed in Section 6.

4.2 Pulse Input
Inthecountermode,theZ-65/6.1isdesignedto
energizethesamplepumpsolenoidoncethe
presetnumberofpulsesarereceived. The rate
atwhichthisoccursisafunctionofoperator
inputaswellastheturbineflowmeterorother
devicethatinputspulsespervolumemetered.
Thetwo10positionswitchesontheZ-65/6.1
areusedtosetthenumberofinputpulsesthe
counterwillcountbeforeactivatingthesolenoid
output. Thenumberoftimesthesolenoid
outputisactivated is recorded bythe onboard
LCD stroke indicator. In this mode of
operation,theZ-65/6.1counteroperatesasa
dividingcounter.ThePIM-100PulseInput
Module is a low power device designed to
interfacebetweenaDynaPakZ-65controller
andamagneticpickupinput. ThePIM-100
providesfixedwidthlogicleveloutputpulses
usedtodrivethecountinputofaZ-65controller
ataratedeterminedbyauserconfigurable
divisor. Theswitchsettabledivisor,ranging
from1to524,287,divides the input pulses from
aturbineflowmeterbythecumulativenumber
representedbythe“ON”divisorswitches.
Actualprogrammingofthesevalueswillbe
discussedinsection8.Aninputadjustment
potentiometeris providedonthePIM-100to

Continuous proportional-to-flow sampling
Inthismodeofoperation,theZ-65/6.1controller
and the PIM-100 module work together as a
dividing counter to control the rate at which the
pump is actuated. The desired time between
pump strokes is controlled by the turbine meter
pulsesor anotheroutput devicethatwill givean
inputpulsetothePIM-100module.
8.1 PIM-100 Set Up:
Determiningthe Divisor: The Divisoris
determinedbytakingthenominalflowmeter
outputpulserateandcalculatinghowmany
outputpulsesyouwantforthatnumberorinput
pulses.
For example:
Ifyourflowmeteriscalibratedfor2300pulses
permeteredvolume(meterk-factor),andyou
wantoneoutputpulsepermeteredvolumefrom
thePIM-100,yourdivisorwouldbe2300.In
Table1,lookupthelargestswitchvaluethatis
lessthanorequaltothedivisor. Subtractthat
switchvaluefromthedivisor. Nextlocatethe
largestswitchvaluethatwillgointotheremain-
derofthedivisor. Repeatthisprocessuntilthe
remainderiszero.
*YourmeterwillprovidepulsesperMetered
Volume.TheMeteredVolumemaybein
gallons,barrels,liters,etc.Verifythisvaluefrom
yourmeterinformation.

duetovaryingcablelengthsandwiretypes,the
thresholdlevelmayneedtobeadjustedfor
certainapplications. Thethresholdlevelcanbe
adjustedusingthe“InputAdj.”potentiometer. If
pulsesoccurtoooften,notatall,and/orerratically,
youmayneedtochangethethresholdsetting.
TurningtheInputAdj.Potentiometerclockwisewill
decreasetheinputsensitivity,and
counterclockwisewillincreasetheinput
sensitivity.

than 1 or greater than 99, the pulses per volume
metered will need to be adjusted. This can be
programmed in most flow meters to the desired
rate. If the calculated counter setting is less than
1, increase the pulses per volume metered. If
the calculated counter setting is greater than 99,
decrease the pulses per volume metered.

9.1 Recommended preventative
maintenance schedule

9.2 Cleaning and lubricating the High
Pressure DP pump:
A.Closetheisolationvalve.
B.Disconnecttheplastictubingfromthe
solenoidvalvetothepumpdiaphragmhousing
bydepressingthetubingreleasesleeveonthe
diaphragmhousingfittingwhilepullingoutthe
tubing. Itisnotnecessarytoremovethefitting
fromthediaphragmhousing.
C.Remove the sampledischarge
(1/8"stainlesssteeltubing)fromthepump
body.
D.Screwthestrokeadjustmentknoballtheway
downtothe0cc/strokesetting.
E.Unscrewthepumpbodybyhandfromthe
inletcheckvalveassembly. Separationatthis
pointis recommendedto maintainproper
tubinglocationandalignmentbetweenthe
pumpbody andthe probebody. Donot
removetheinletcheckvalvebodyfromthe
manifoldunlesscleaningisnecessary. To
replacetheinletcheckvalveo-ring,cutthe
o-ringofftheheadofthedartandstretchthe
newo-ringovertheheadofthedartusinga
lightcoatof assembly grease.
F.Removethediaphragmhousingfromthe
pumpbodybyunscrewingthediaphragm
housingandcarefullypullingtheplungeroutof
thepumpbody. Inspecttheplungershaftfor
damageor wear. The diaphragmchamber
housesthediaphragm,returnspring,stroke
adjustmentscrewandplungerassembly. The
diaphragmchamber should not bedisas-
sembledunless oneoftheseitemsneeds
replacing.
NOTE: Normal service generally requires only
the replacement of the o-rings and seal. A seal
repair kit (part number D3-0115) is available
from YZ.

CAUTION:
*Incorrect operation of valves (over tightening) can
result in damage to the valve components (isolation
valve bonnet assembly) which might result in the valve
stem being screwed out of the probe body. This of
course results in product at pipeline pressure being
vented continually through this port until this section
of the pipeline is shut in. Be aware of the following
procedures and information.
· DynaPak valves are of soft seat design and
should only be closed or opened with fingers.
No wrenches should ever be used.

G.Removetheinternalbushingsando-rings

topofthepumpbody. Gentlytaptoremoveall
bushingsando-ringsoutthebottomofthe
pumpbody.
H.Cleanandinspectallcomponents. Replace
ifnecessary.
I.Applyalightcoatofnon-solubleassembly
greaseonallo-ringsandbushingstoprevent
damage.
J.Installthebodybushingintothebottomofthe
pumpbody.
K.Insertallotherbushings,springs,ando-rings
intheirrespectivesequenceontheplunger
shaft.
L.Carefullyinstallassemblyintothetopofthe
pumpbody.
NOTE: Apply a light coat of assembly grease
on the plunger shaft prior to installation.

9.3 Battery Test:

position to test the battery.
Thiswillsetthesolenoidoutputratetoone
actuationeveryoneminute (basedonthe
factorysettimerangefortheZ-65/6.1model).
2.. Depressthetestswitchtotestthebattery.
AgreenLED will illuminate ifthe battery is
goodand a redLEDwill illuminate ifthe battery
islow.
NOTE: the solenoid must be connected to
testthe battery condition. Battery condition
cannot be tested with a volt meter.
Replacing a Depleted Battery:
1.Removethefourthumbscrews,coverplate
andorangeterminalconnector.
2.Thebatteryislocatedinthelowerlefthand
corneroftheZ-65/6.1controllerassembly.
3.Unclipthebatteryplugfromthebattery
receptacle.
4.Replacethedepletedbatterywithafresh
batterypack (partNo.E3-2001).
NOTE: follow the illustration to assure proper
battery wire placement in the Z-65/6.1 enclo-
sure.
5.Returnthemodeswitchestotheiroriginal
positions.

10.1 Mechanical Operation Test:
A. Setthe mode switchesas follows:
1. Positions 1, 2 and 3 on.
B.Set the timeswitches to00 toenterthe
diagnosticmode. This mode enablesthe user
toincreasethesolenoidoutputratetoone
pulseeverytwoseconds.
10.3 LCD Stroke Indicator Test Mode:
A.Totestthestrokecounter,setthemode
switchesasfollows:
1. Positions 1, 2 and 3 on.
B. Set the time switches to 00.
C.Unscrewthethumbscrewsandremovethe
sixpositionterminalstripandcover. Thiswill
exposethebatterypackandthethreeposition
configurationjumper(locatedinthelowerright
corneroftheZ-65/6.1controllerassembly).
D.Settheconfigurationjumpertothefarright
positionmarked strokeindicator test.
E. This will cause all six digits to become active
onthestrokecounter. Depressthereset. The
strokecountershouldincrement000000,
111111, etc.,up to999999 eachtime the
solenoidfires. Whenthecounterdisplayreads
999999,the testis complete.
Note: when the test is complete, move the
jumperbackto the factory position (far left
position).
