any Solid-State Speed Control Device.

air outside – Do not vent exhaust air into spaces within walls or ceilings or into
attics, crawl spaces, or garages.

A. Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If you have
questions, contact the manufacturer.
B. Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power o at service panel and lock
the service disconnecting means to prevent power from being switched on
accidentally.When the service disconnecting means cannot be locked, secure-
ly fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag, to the service panel.
C. To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or injury to persons, do not use replace-
ment parts that have not been recommended by the manufacturer (e.g. parts
made at home using a 3D printer).

WARNING - TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A RANGE TOP GREASE FIRE:
A. Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smok-
ing and greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium
settings.
B. Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when ambeing foods
( i.e. Crepes Suzette, Cherries Jubilee, Peppercorn Beef Flambè ).
C. Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate
on fan or lter.
D. Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size of the
surface element.
E. Keep fan, lters and grease laden surface clean.
F. Use high range setting on range only when necessary. Heat oil slowly on low
to medium setting.
G. Don’ t leave range unattended when cooking.
H. Always use cookware and utensils appropriate for the type and amount o
food being prepared.
WARNING – TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY TO PERSONS IN THE EVENT OF A
RANGE TOP GREASE FIRE, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWINGa:
A. SMOTHER FLAMES with a close-tting lid, cookie sheet, or metal tray, then
turn o the burner. BE CAREFUL TO PREVENT BURNS. If the ames do not go
out immediately, EVACUATE AND CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
B. NEVER PICK UP A FLAMING PAN – You may be burned.
C. DO NOT USE WATER, including wet dishcloths or towels – a violent steam ex-
plosion will result.
D. Use an extinguisher ONLY if:
1. You know you have a Class ABC extinguisher, and you already know how to
operate it.
2. The re is small and contained in the area where it started.
3. The re department is being called.
4. You can ght the re with your back to an exit.

A. Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualied person(s) in
accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including re-rated con-
struction.
B. Sucientair is needed forproper combustionandexhausting of gases through
the ue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent back drafting. Follow
the heating equipment manufacturer’s guideline and safety standards such as
those published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the
American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers
(ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
C. When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wir-
ing and other hidden utilities.
D. Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
E. This unit must be grounded.

WARNING - UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES DOMESTIC APPLIANCES MAY

A. Do not check lters with hood working.

D. The use of an unprotected ame is dangerous for the lters and could cause
res.
E. Watch constantly the fried food in order to avoid the cooking oil ares up.
F. Before performing any mainteinance operation, disconnect the hood from
the electrical service.
The manufacturers will not to accept any responsibility for eventual damages,
because of failure to observe the above instructions.
Electrical Requirements
Important:
- Observe all governing codes and ordinances.
- It is the customer’s responsibility to be aware of these below:
- To contact a qualied electrical installer.
- To assure that the electrical installation is adequate and in conformance with
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 latest edition* or CSA standards C22.1-
94, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 and C22.2 No.0-M91 - latest edition** and
all local codes and ordinances.
- If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is recommended that a
qualied electrician determine that the ground path is adequate.

- Do not ground to a gas pipe.
- Check with a qualied electrician if you are not sure the range hood is pro-
perly grounded.
- Do not have a fuse in the neutral or ground circuit.
- This appliance requires a 120V 60Hz electrical supply and connected to an
individual properly grounded branch circuit protected by a 15 or 20 ampere
circuit breaker or time delay fuse. Wiring must be 2 wire with ground. Please
also refer to Electrical Diagram on product.
- A cable locking connector (not supplied) might also be required by local co-
des. Check with local requirements, purchase and install appropriate connector
if necessary.

SAFETY PRECAUTION
1.Take care when the cooker hood is operating simultaneously with an open
fireplace or burner that depend on the air in the environment and are supplied by
other than electrical energy, as the cooker hood removes the air from the environ-
ment which a burner or fireplace need for combustion. The negative pressure in
the environment must not exceed 4Pa (4x10-5 bar). Provide adequate ventilation
in the environment for a safe operation of the cooker hood. Follow the local laws
applicable for external air evacuation.

Before connecting the model to the electricity network:
-Control the data plate (positioned inside the appliance) to ascertain that the volt-
age and power correspond to the network and the socket is suitable. If in doubt
ask a qualified electrician.
-If the power supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced with another cable or
a special assembly, which may be obtained direct from the manufacturer or from
the Technical Assistance Centre.
2. Warning!
In certain circumstances electrical appliances may be a danger hazard.
A) Do not check the status of the filters while the cooker hood is operating.
B) Do not touch bulbs or adjacent areas, during or straight after prolonged
use of the lighting installation.
C) Flambè cooking is prohibited underneath the cooker hood.
D) Avoid free flame, as it is damaging for the filters and a fire hazard.
E) Constantly check food frying to avoid that the overheated oil may become
a fire hazard.
F) Disconnect the electrical plug prior to any maintenance.
G) This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards
involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children w thout supervision.
H) Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the
appliance.
I)There shall be adequate ventilation of the room when the rangehood is used
at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels.
L) There is a risk of fire if cleaning is not carried out in accordance with the
instructions.

Installation - Power Supply Connection
GENERAL
• Carefully read the following important information regarding installation
safety and maintenance. Keep this information booklet accessible for further
consultations.
A. Lift the electrical plant box.
B. Remove the 3 fixed screws.
C. Position the electrical box so it is in the line with the holes of the previously removed
screws and tighten.
D 1. Route the power cord to the junction box.
2. Using listed conduit fittings and connectors, connect the power supply to the box and
each line to the appropriate wire following this color convention:
BLACK = HOT LEG
WHITE = NEUTRAL
GREEN/YELLOW = GROUND
Polarity must be observed. Unit must be properly grounded. Use a double throw disconnect
switch.
3. Replace the box cover. Replace the Anti-grease flters.
All wiring must be in compliance with national electrical code, ANSI/NFPA 70-1999 and
all local codes and regulations.

Installation
• Mounting the hood to the wall
Position the xing template on the wall (taking into account the minimum distance
from the hob).
- Drill 4 holes respecting the size indicated on the xing template.
- Fix the appliance to the wall with screws Aand align it horizontally with the wall
units. After adjusting the appliance, x the hood permanently with screws B. For the
various installations, use screws and dowels suitable for the type of wall (e.g. rein-
forced concrete, plasterboard, etc.). If screws and dowels are supplied with the prod-
uct, check that they are suitable for the type of wall to which the hood is to be xed.
- Fasten bracket Dto the wall so that it is aligned with the hood with screws C.
- Fasten the decorative chimneys to the hood with screws G.
- Slide the upper decorative chimney onto bracket Dand fasten it with screws E.

WARNING FIRE HAZARD
NEVER exhaust air or terminate duct work into spaces between walls, crawl
spaces, ceiling, attics or garages.
All exhaust must be ducted to the outside, unless using the recirculating option.
Use single wall rigid Metal ductwork only.
Fasten all connections with sheet metal screws and tape all joints w/ certied
Silver Tape or Duct Tape.

MOUNTING HEIGHTS
The range hood must be installed at a mini-
mum height of 24 inches (61cm) from the
cooking surface. If a connecting duct work
composed of two parts is used, the upper
part must be placed outside the lower part.
Do not connect the range hood duct to the
same duct used to exhaust hot air or fumes
from another appliance. Before proceeding
with the assembly instructions remove the
decorative mesh lters so that the range hood
is easier to handle.
MOUNTING TO THE WALL
1. Place the paper template included with
your hood on the wall to determine where
to add the screws for mounting the hood.
Make sure the bottom of the template
aligns with the bottom of where
the hood will be located. See Fig. 9
2. Lift the hood onto the screws and
adjust to make sure the hood is
level.
3. When the hood has been adjusted
tighten the screws to secure the
hood in place.
NOTE: Screws must be fastened into
wooden studs so wood blocking may
be necessary. If using wall anchors
make sure to check your local codes
for suitability and type of anchors
to use.
NOTE1: For the various installations use screws and screw anchors suited to the
type of wall (minimum screw size: 1/4" diameter x 2-3/4" length).

Optional Remote Control
SYNCHRONIZATION:
To synchronize the remote control with the range hood for the rst time, proceed as follows:
1. With the range hood o, press and hold the “Power” on the hood for 4 seconds (Fig.1) until the
“3rd speed” indicator on the hood ashes for 3 times.
2. Press any button on the remote control within 4 seconds to conrm the link (Fig.2). If successful,
the lights of the hood will turn on. The range hood is now syncrhonized with the remote control.
If you experience anyproblems, repeat the procedure.

could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment. (Example - use only shielded interface cables when connecting to computer or
peripheral device. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions. (1) This device
may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause
undesired operation.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
- Remove any protective lm from the remote surface prior to using it.
- The remote control has a range of approximately 10-15 feet.
- The remote control is equipped with a magnetic base and may be attached to ferrous surface
for easy storage.
- The remote top is made of a plastic material and is prone to scratches.
Use care when handling and cleaning the remote; we suggest using a microber cloth toclean it.
- The remote control will enter a sleep mode after 20 seconds of inactivity to conserve batterylife.
Press any button for one second to wake the remote.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
The batteries will last approximately 8 months, depending on usage.
1. Remove rubber cover from bottom (Fig.3).
2. Using an object such as a screwdriver or pen, gently place it in the center opening in the bottom
of the remote and push inwards to dislodge the top touch panel from the remote body. (Fig. 4)
3. Press on the metal spring located in the battery tray to dislodge battery. Replace both batteries
with type 3V CR2450 (Fig.5). Re-assemble by following instructions in reverse.

Touch Control
A – Lights Button: Lights are two level (high, low). From stand-by-on mode,
touch once for high, twice for low, three times to cycle back.
B - Delay O Button: Press the Delay O Button to enable the ten-minute
delay-o function, no matter at what speed the fan is running at. B button will
start blinking indicating the delay o function is enabled. After ten minutes the
fan and lights will turn o. Delay o function can be disabled by pressing B
button, changing the speed, or pressing the Power Button C.
C - Power Button: Press once to activate all button stand by mode allowing
control of other button functions. All buttons will illuminate indicating stand by
mode. Press the Power Button again to turn the hood o (fan and lights). The
stand by mode will remain active for 30 seconds.
D - Low Speed Button: In stand-by mode: Press once for low speed.
E - Medium Speed Button: In stand-by mode: Press once for medium speed.
F - High Speed Button: In stand-by mode: Press once for high speed.
MESH FILTER CLEAN REMINDER (always enabled): after 60 hours of fan usage,
button A blinks when the hood is in stand-by, indicating it is time to clean the
mesh lters. To Reset the function: with the hood in stand-by, press and hold
the B button for 4 to 5 seconds, the A button will stop blinking, and the 60-
hour timer will reset.
CHARCOAL FILTER REPLACE REMINDER (disabled by default, must be enabled
by user if recirculating hood): To enable Charcoal Filter Replacement Function
hold buttons D and F simultaneously for four seconds. The A button will quickly
ash 3 times indicating the Charcoal Filter Replacement Function is enabled. After
200 hours of fan usage, the B button will blink while the hood is on, indicating
it is time to replace the charcoal lters.
To Reset the Charcoal Filter Replace Reminder function: Hold the B button for 4
to 5 seconds until it stops ashing, and the 200-hour timer will reset.
Order replacement charcoal lter kit number Z0F-C011 through your local dealer,
www.zephyronline.com, or the Zephyr customer service department.
To disable the Charcoal Filter Replacement function, repeat the enable procedure,
the A button will illuminate for 3 seconds then turn o indicating the Charcoal
Filter Replacement Function is disabled.

Maintenance
• It is recommended to operate the appliance prior to cooking. It is recommended
to leave the appliance in operation for 5 minutes after cooking is completed in
order to completely eliminate cooking vapors and odors. The proper function
of the range hood is conditioned by the regularity of maintenance.
• The decorative mesh lters capture the grease particles suspended in the
air and are therefore subject to clogging because of frequent use. In order to
prevent a re hazard, it is recommended to clean the lter a minimum of every
2 months or when instructed by the Metal Filter Clean indicator on the range
hood controls. Clean the range hood by carrying out the following instructions:
- Remove the lters from the range hood and wash them in a solution of water
and neutral liquid detergent, leaving to soak.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water and leave to dry.
- Filters may also be washed in the dishwasher at the lowest setting.
The lters may alter in color after several washes but is not cause for replacement.
• Clean the blower and other surfaces of the range hood regularly using a cloth
moistened with denatured alcohol or non abrasive liquid detergent.
AIRFLOW CONTROL TECHNOLOGY
Airow Control Technology (ACT™) enables the installer to reduce the maximum
blower CFM to one of two most specied CFM levels; 390 or 290 CFM. The us-
age of ACT may not be necessary for your installation. Please check your local
codes for CFM restrictions.
Setting ACT 390
With the hood o, press buttons Eand Fsimultaneously for approximately 3
seconds. The buttons will ash for 2 seconds to conrm the setting change. The
hood will have 3 fan speeds in ACT 390.
Setting ACT 290
With the hood o, press buttons Band Fsimultaneously for approximately 3
seconds. The buttons will ash for 2 seconds to conrm the setting change. The
hood will have 2 fan speeds in ACT 290.
Take care when reducing the CFM. After the ACT feature is set, it cannot be
reverted to the default CFM.
