TheIPC640outdoorseriesareday&nightPTZdomenetworkcameras.
Theyareprimarilydesignedtosurveyvideosandtraceremoteimages
forlarge‐scalemonitoringscenariosinurbansecurity,transportation,
schools,enterpriseparks,buildings,gasstations,andtransformer
stations.
Theseriesincludesdomesofthehighspeed,all‐weather,infrared,and

switchtotheopticalinterface,poweroffthecameraatfirst,then
inserttheopticalmodule,andfinallyrestartthecamera(youdonot
needtoremovetheelectricalinterface,becausetheopticalport
takesprecedenceinthiscase).

Tousethelocalcachefunction,ensurethattheSDcardhasbeen
formattedbeforeinsertingit,becausethedevicecannotformattheSD
card.
WhentheSDcardisinserted,thelocalcachefunctionofthedevicewill
automaticallystart15secondsafterthecentralstoragefails.
FilescachedtotheSDcardwillbeperiodicallyoverwritten.Therefore,
youneedtotimelyexportthecachefilesoutoftheSDcard,orstartthe
videouploadfunctiontocachevideobackupsbyusingthebackup
servermanagedbythecentralserver.Youcanplaytheexportedand
backupvideosonthewebinterfaceofthecentralserver.

Precautions
Itisrecommendedtomountthedeviceoutdoors.Toavoidhazardsto
yourselfandthedevice,youneedtoreadthroughthischapter
cautiously.

PrecautionsofMounting
zAvoidsquashing,shaking,ordampingthedeviceintransport,
storage,andmounting.Keepawayfromvibrationsourcesasmuch
aspossibleduringmounting.
zMountthedeviceoutdoors,andprotectingdeviceconnectorswith
effectivewaterproof,moisture‐proof,anddust‐proofsolutions.
Particularly,screwsatconnectorsmustbetightenedtoensurethat
thedeviceisentirelysealed.Forlightningprotection,youmay
mountthelightningarrester.
zWhenmountingthecamera,properlymounttheadapterandthe
bracketconnector,andthenfastenthetailcableunitandthe
adapter.Strictlyfollowthecorrectsequence.Otherwise,thetail
cablecouldbedamagedorwatercouldintrudeintothedevice.
zBecautiousofsafetywhenconnectingthefiberconnector.Donot
straightlylookintooutputinterfacesofcomponentswithlight
sources,suchasthefiberpinsection,opticalmodule,andoptical
splitter.
zUsethepoweradapter(AC24V3A)deliveredwiththedeviceby
themountingpackage.Improperpoweradaptersmaydamagethe
device.
zVerifythatthecablebetweenthepoweradapterandthedeviceis
equaltoorshorterthan1.5m.Ifthiscableislongerthan1.5m,the
voltageofthedeviceisloweredandthedevicefrequentlywillbe
abnormal.Ifitisrequiredtolengthenthecable,lengthenthecable
betweenthepoweradapterandthemains(220V).
zBesuretodisconnectthepowerbeforemovingthedevice,and
excisecautiontoavoidelectricshockwhenmovingit.Oncethe
cableisconnectedtothemains,thedevicewillbepowered.

zWhenmovingthedevice,donotholdthetailcablebyhandfor
weightbearing.Otherwise,thecableconnectorofthedevicecould
beloosened.
zDonotcutoffthetailcableforconnectionpurposes.Abaretail
cablemayeasilycauseashortcircuit,resultinginabnormalityor
damagetothedevice.
zWhenconnectingtoanexternalinterface,useanexisting
connectionterminal,andensurethatthecableterminal(latchor
clamp)isingoodconditionandproperlyfastened.Ensurethatthe
cableisnottenseduringmounting,withapropermarginreserved
toavoidpoorportcontactorlooseningcausedbyshockorshake.
zDonotexposebutwellprotectthetailendofthetailcable.Ensure
thatthetailcableareaiswaterproof,andavoidimmersingthetail
cableinaccumulatedwater.
zTokeepthehousingclean,donotremovethetransparent
protectivefilmintheouterlayerofthehousingduringmounting.
Afterconfirmingthatthemountingiscomplete,removethe
transparentprotectivefilmbeforethedeviceisstarted.
zItiscommonthatstaticelectricityexistsonthehousing.Toavoid
dustabsorptioncausedbystaticelectricity,itisrecommendedthat
youwipethesurfaceofthehousingwithESDglovesafterremoving
thetransparentprotectivefilm..
PrecautionsofMaintaining
zPoweroffthedevicebeforecleaningthehousing,wipetheinternal
andoutsidesurfacesbyusingsoftdrycloth.Avoidusingliquidor
aerosolcleaners.
zAvoidlettingthelensfocusonbright‐lightobjects,especiallythe
sunorotherbright‐lightsources.Otherwise,theimagingsensorof
thedevicemaybecompletelybroken.

zInmaintenance,avoidimmersingthedeviceintoforeignmaterials
orcorrosiveliquids,inordertoavoiddangers.
Contactourcompany'slocalagentforallmaintenance.Avoidopeningor
disassemblingtheprotectionhousingbyyourself,whichcouldresultin
electricalshockorotherdangers,andthedevicemaybedamaged.The
companyisnotresponsibleforsuchdamages.
3Installation
Thischapterdescribeshowtomountadomewithahighspeeddomeas
anexample.Refertothischapterwhenmountingotherdomes,because
theirproceduresaresimilar.Anydifferenceshallbedescribed.
Precautions
Verifydevicecomponents.
Beforemounting,verifythatalldevicecomponentsareavailableby
checkingthedevicemodel,componenttypes,andquantityaccordingto
thepackinglist.

videosignals,andRS‐485ofthedevice.
zWhengroundingthedevice,usethegroundingterminalproperly.

10/100MbpsEthernetCAT5UTPcablesareapplicabletothe
ANSI/EIA/TIA‐568A/BandISO/D.
Eightwiresinthenetworkcableneedtobeinsertedinparallelintothe
topofthecableconnector.Thecableconnectorneedstobecrimpedin
position.Afterthecrimping,ensurethatthemetalpiecesofthecable
connectorareparalleltoeachotherandtheclampofthecable
connectorisintact.
Opticalfiber
TheEthernetopticalinterfaceconnectstothesinglemodeopticalfiber.
Oneendoftheopticalfiberconnectstothecamera,andtheotherend
connectstoathird‐partydevice(suchasaswitch).Ensurethatthe
opticalmoduleofthethird‐partydevicematchesthecamera,sothat
theiremissionwavelengthandthereceiverwavelengtharethesame.
Ensurethattheactualtransmissiondistanceoftheopticalfiberis
greaterthanthetransmissiondistanceactuallyrequired.
Ensurethatthefollowingrequirementsaresatisfiedwhenconnecting
twodevicesbyusinganopticalfiber:
zWhenanSFPopticalmoduleisconnected,thecurvatureofthe
opticalfibershouldnotbeexcessivelysmall(butshouldbegreater
than90degrees).

zWhenmountingthetailcableunit,ensurethattheopticalfiberis
notclampedbythedevice.Otherwise,theopticalfibercouldbe
damaged.
zAvoidexcessivelybendingtheopticalfiberduringmounting.Ifthe
opticalfiberisexcessivelylong,coiltheopticalfiber.Ensurethat
thecoildiameterisgreaterthan60mmandthecurvatureis
greaterthan90degrees.

zSelectapremium‐qualityfiberconnector.Ifanon‐standardfiber
connectorwithoutchamferingisused,internalceramicsleeves
suchastheopticalmodule,flange,oropticalsplittercouldbe
damaged.
zEnsurethatthefiberconnectorisingoodcondition,thelatchisnot
disruptedandkeepselasticity,andtheconnectiontothepeerend
isnormal.
zBeforeconnectinganopticalfiber,confirmthatthereisnoany
obvioussurfacedefectsuchasstain,scratch,dent,orpit.Ifthe
fiberconnector,flange,oropticalmoduleisdirty,cleanitwith
alcoholandcleancotton(oracleancottonrod).
zWhenusinganopticalfibertoconnectthedevice,ifaflangeis
requiredforconnectingthefiberconnector,determinethemodel
